Hey Everyone!
I've been a little light on exercise the last 2 days. Sometimes, the gym can't come first. I plan to volunteer at the Horseback Riding Ctr. tomorrow morning. My target is one or two classes, but I usually stay longer if they need help. I generally get in approx. 2 Fitbit miles per class. I generally don't go to the gym on the weekends, but I thinking about going on Sunday.

I've been light on exercise the last 2 day, so I'll try to do a little catch-up over the weekend. It's been hot and humid, so I haven't been sleeping very well. I work up early this a.m. and discovered there were a few stray ants in bed with me, and crawling on me. It's been a bad year for ants, they seem to be everywhere.

I hope everyone has a good weigh-in!

GettinFit:
Congrats on a successful day!

I don't want to be one of those people either, lol. I need to start a weight lifting routine soon and going to attempt today as the start. Will report back. I must exercise more and eat less to lose weight too. Love your quote "I'm embracing the logic that you can't outexercise a bad diet/too many calories". One of my biggest challenges is wanting to eat in the evening. It's worse because of my food choices. Wednesday I brushed my teeth after dinner and only had a popscicle before bed. My best evening this week, so will try brushing after dinner tonight.

Hope everyone has a good weigh-in tomorrow! If you aren't familiar with the Weekly Weigh-In Sheet, please read the post about it on Page 1.

I'm tuckered out. I volunteered at the Horseback Riding Ctr. today. I originally aimed for 2 classes, but they were short on volunteers, so I assisted with 4 sessions. My Fitbit recorded approx. 7.5 miles. It's a bit of a love/hate relationship. Once I quit moving, I stiffen up and my arthritis gets the best of me. In horse terms, "I feel like I've been rode hard and put away wet" - LOL.

Happy Sunday! Things have been going very well and I think having a daily journal and the challenges are a big part of that. With my journal, I get to see exactly what my triggers are and work on how I deal with those challenges instead of relying on food for comfort. The challenges keep me honest and motivated. I have been playing around with intermittent fasting for months but I have finally, fully committed to it. This week I have lost 5lbs so far and more importantly I feel in control of my cravings.

Thank you. I am really focused on hitting my goal but also staying realistic about weight loss and healthy eating. I really want to get to a point where I am not limited to any activities due to weight restrictions.

I hate it when this happens. I drafted a long summary about my week and lost it. I was using Notepad, did a copy of the data and then got distracted with writing something else. Guess my keyboard actions did a delete of the data and I didn't notice in time, so I proceeded to write something else (no going back to recover & I was living dangerously with an unsaved document - I know better) I have to step away from the computer now. I'll try to recreate this evening. Overall, I had a great week. I think I may have been retaining some water for the initial weight-in (perhaps the Popchips the night before, LOL) I don't think I'll be able to repeat a large loss any time soon, but I'll be glad with a steady pace of 1-2 pounds a week.

Catch you all later.

Hey Everyone:
Let's see if I can recreate most of what I lost earlier in my post draft.

I'm very happy with my results for the first week. Part of me thinks the scale is acting up again, and the other part of me thinks my 6.7 lb loss is because of two things: I likely was retaining fluids last Sunday and I got in a fair amount of exercise this week and didn't do any after dinner snacking. (especially 600 calorie bags of Popchips).

WHAT WENT WELL:
My goal was to get in 30 miles, and I got 34.46
I did well with my eating - focused on low-calorie foods that I like
Managed to avoid Popchips and late PM snacks in general.

IMPROVEMENT OPPORTUNITIES:
Meditation - Need to phase into meditation (failed my goal this week)

GYM VISITS - Went to the gym 2 days, out of the target of 4. Did one partial upper body workout at home, but basically missed 2 days of weight training.

CHALLENGES:
Sleep has been a challenge. It's been hot and humid and aches and pains have hampered my sleep. It's much easier to NOT eat snacks, when you can fall asleep easily and stay asleep. I managed to NOT get out of bed and grab some Popchips, but it's been tempting. It just seems that about 600 calories worth of Popchips can calm me and soothe me and help me get to sleep.

I've been taking Aleve & Metatonin at bedtime. I tried a couple of baths in epsom salts, and then knee massage. I'll try some additional things this week: Icing or heat pads, lidocane pads and/or TENS unit.

It's helped to keep reminding myself to NOT invalidate the calorie deficit that the exercise affords. Popchips or dry Golden Grahams and chocolate aren't worth it to negate my execise efforts.

Hi All! Congrats to everyone on their weight loss successes!

Last week was a bit challenging for me, and this week I expect will be as well. My husband has had evening plans several nights last week, and I have been helping my sister and nephew move from their home (she is getting divorced); all while working full time, and taking care of my one year old daughter (and the whole house is dealing with a summer cold)! So things aren't going quite as planned. I am hoping if I can make it through this week, I should be in a better position to get back on track. I figure there are at least some goals I can continue to focus on, and lay out that I should be able to accomplish:

#1. Drink 64 ounces of a water a day
#2. Take a 15 minute brisk walk in the afternoon
#3. No snacking after 7:30 p.m.

Going to try to make it work!

MOMBIE:
I'm sorry that you are so busy and challenging right now. You have a lot going on and it sounds very stressful. You have the right idea to start with small steps in the right direction. They will all add up.

Hang in there. Sometimes, just NOT gaining weight can be a good accomplishment.

Hey Everyone:

Congrats to everyone for your accomplishment during Week 1. I hope Week 2 is going well for everyone!

Sunday was a rest day for me, so not much activity. On Monday, I did 60 minutes of upper body weight training and volunteered at the riding ctr. (6.s miles of walking).

I had to take my truck to the shop, because my heater core was leaking under the glove box floor area and steam was seeping up from my dash area. When I first noticed the steam, I thought, "OMG, my vehicle is on fire". I eventually figured out what was going on. I did have a car develop an engine fire several years ago, so I'm glad I didn't have a 2nd vehicle fire.

I didn't get to the gym today, as my truck in in the shop. I anticipate I'll get it back tomorrow, with the heater bypassed. I'll have to bring it back for a 3-day stay at the shop at a later date. At least I got in some walking mileage, by walking home from the repair shop.

I'm hoping for a good day on Wednesday. If I get my vehicle back early enough, I can get in an hour at the gym and then some walking at the riding center.

My 12-hr fasting hasn't gone well this week. I'm having a problem with insomnia. l've had some Skinny Pop Popcorn, as a late-night snack, when I couldn't sleep. I've been waking up hungry. Other than the popcorn, my eating has been healthy and low calorie.

Have a great Wednesday!

Hey Everyone:
Congrats to everyone for their accomplishments last week. The chart below represents the 8-5-18 Weigh In. If you didn't post a weight, your entry in the Pounds Lost column will be red. After 2 consecutive missed weigh-ins, your name will drop off the chart, until we hear from you.

The Weigh-In Sheet for the 8-12-18 Weigh In will be up shortly. Just a reminder, please make at least one post a week to communicate (with at least a couple sentences) to let us know how things are going. Don't feel bad if things aren't going well - that's the time when we need to communicate the most.
