Default Dithering

I have been thinking about returning to WW for about a week now. I liked my leader, but I stopped going because I was really struggling to lose and felt I was throwing my $$ away. I've been going to TOPS but the meeting is at an inconvenient time and I'm not motivated by holding hands and singing little songs.

I really enjoyed using the online program to track my points and exercise. Ironically, though, right now it's less expensive, in terms of start-up costs, to sign up for the entire program because if you choose WW Online you have to pay for 3 months at one time. I'd also have to buy a scale to weigh in as we don't have one in the house. Cost IS a factor for me right now as I just lost 75% of my hours at work and haven't replaced that income yet ...

I've done WW before on my own and had great results. This time around i'm starting it again on my own. As long as you have a goal and stick to it, I believe it can be done. I have printed off a lot of information (points, recipies and helpful tips) to get me going. I bought the new WW Points Calculator off Ebay and i'm ready to get started. I plan to set a weekly weigh in to the schedule so that its more of a routine.

I have my own official weigh in every saturday morning before my workout.
I would like to try it on my own. How do I find out about the point system etc if I don't go to a meeting or join online. Also do I need to buy a food scale.

thanks

I'm doing WW online, mainly because I will have to drive far to go to meetings, besides I don't like meetings, so I don't think it will help me at all.
I'm only on my 2nd week. At first, I did not like it, I thought it was time consuming doing all those trackings, etc. But I got used to the interface real fast, and I like the fact that I have access anytime, anywhere, through my iPhone and iPod touch.
Maybe we should all post here and get the accountability factor that we need to be successful.

I am also doing WW on my own now after having gone to many meetings over the years. So far have lost 11 lbs in my first 3 weeks. I did not want to pay the weekly fee and don't like the extra pressure of having to step on their scale. I weigh myself every day and have an official weight every Friday. My daughter on the other hand prefers to go to meeting as it gives her extra motivation.

I will say this, I love the 3 Month Journals they sell at the locations and I started using an old one I have but am about to run out. Does anyone know if you can buy one at the meetings without having to join? I tried buying just a small notebook but I have found that for me there is no substitute for it.

Can't your daughter buy one for you? or try ebay.

So I was just looking at the WW site again and see there is a
WW At Home and
WW Online.

When reading the post I was assuming that when someone said they were doing it at home I thought they meant doing it online.

Now I have to re read the post.
PS it looks like the online price has gone up. It's $17.95

Default I really need a boasting buddy.......

I have done this before and am for sure a remedial WW member. I am a lifetimer that has done this for a lifetime....don't think that was supposed to be the goal right!!! LOL I lost all of my weight two years ago and recently went on meds for ADHD. While it was great for the ADHD....I have packed on 30 pounds since I got on it. I have called the doctor and am weaning off the meds now....would much rather be hyper than unhealthy.
I could really use someone that needs some support and strokes as well. I promise to be a diligent buddy!!

I live in the Houston area and they actually have WW stores now. My sister buys her journal there.

I was going to buy the journals online at Amazon and then I started looking through the reviews. A WW's Leader posted that you shouldn't buy them from places like Amazon or Ebay because they jack up the price. She stated that you can walk into ANY WW's center and buy whatever the heck you wanted WITHOUT joining.

The reason I know you can buy is because I walked right in a WW's center and purchased two journals and one of the points trackers for myself.

And think about, why would WW's really care if you buy them without joining. The way I see it, they are still making money.
-----------------------------------------
I'm doing the WW's online program now. And I just love it! I think I'm doing a whole lot better on it than I did going to the meetings. (GO FIGURE)

It's less of a hassle having to drive to meeting and it's definitely cheaper! I like the online features of points tracking and weight tracking. And the recipes and adding a recipe that you can add to your tracker. I like all of it! lol

I started on May 14th and as of this past Friday, I'm down 13.6 lbs. I don't believe I was that successful when I went to weigh-in. And oh, I also workout 6 days a week so I'm sure that has something to do with the losses.

I'm seriously debating on doing this at home. NO meetings, NO online. If anyone has materials, or atleast basics like the point system and would like to share it with me. Could you please. I've found a point calculater (gottah love the apps) and I keep my own weightloss journal (lack there of). All I need is the basics on getting started. As far as support, ideas, recipes and tips.. This board is wonderful for it. Again, any info would be appreciated. Thanks!

You can totally be successful without meetings! Though I do think the support and motivation you get at meetings is REALLY helpful. I did meetings for a year or so and left because the cost of membership was outweighing the usefulness for me. Once you learn the program and get the tools you need you're pretty much set. So you end up paying for the weekly weigh-in and motivation part. I loved going in when I had a bad week and getting the pick-me-up from everyone else, but when I couldn't really learn much more than food tips, I decided to part with meetings.

If meeting membership wasn't so much and there were more people my own age there I would totally go back and do meetings. But I figure if I can do the program on my own at home, and then make friends who do WW outside of the meetings, then I've got the best of both worlds

I find without the support from others it's harder for me to be self-motivated and disciplined. But if you can do it without anyone's help, online is a great way to go. Or just do what I and so many others do. Make your own WW social groups and friends and skip the meetings. Best of luck in whichever route you take!

I have been succesfull up until this point at home, but I think the closer I get to goal, I may need the support of either this forum, or attend meetings again.

I started ww about 3 weeks ago. I refuse to pay ~$15 a week for meetings. I am very disciplined anyways and read up on it for a while before deciding to go into it at home.

I have lost about 5 lbs so far. I found that when I ate the points allotted, I didn't lose ANY weight, but if I had 2-4 points less, I would lose weight. So I altered it. I'm not hungry, I eat a lot of fruits, whole grains, salads, and dairy.

I don't think ww is about meetings and diet per se as much as it is about changing the way you eat.

It isn't necessary to go to meetings if you have a support system at home. My boyfriend is doing it with me and that has helped a lot as far as keeping me on track and cooking meals both of us know we need.
