I am still alive. Started at the Excalibur yesterday. I survived Disneyland. Missed the Cajon Fire by an hour. Very thankful! Trying to get used to my new job then I will deal with the # 1 problem in my life. Then on to my weight issues. I will return as a regular poster soon. ~flower

Punkin, it doesn't matter if no one else will see your flag, YOU will! There are a lot of American flags still flying at houses all over here, since Sept 11. We here in Canada felt that grief just as if NY was one of our own. Speaking of the American flag, the July issue of Crazy for Cross-Stitch has a great cross-stitch (easy, too!) of American flags. I think I'm going to add it to my "to do" patterns, after all, hubby is American. Glad your curtain turned out well!

Hey Flower! Nice to hear from you! You get things settled and come post when you can, we'll still be here. Just let us know you're okay now and then.

Vjestica, congratulations on your ORANGE belt! Glad you understand that we just have your best interests at heart, and I hope that you're able to develop a healthy eating plan to get to your goal weight. Obviously you have the exercise part covered if you're into karate! Good luck with those exams this week!

*whoohoo* Sheila...you put that old landlady in her place! She probably wasn't expecting you to know the laws and your rights, good for you for showing her that you do. I hope you are able to get your living arrangements sorted out soon. Being in limbo isn't any fun.

Amyjo, I hope things turn around for the better for you soon. Just don't overdo....be gentle with yourself. It will all come together in the end. You've worked hard to get this far in school, and I know you'll manage to get through this term somehow. I have faith in you.

Will report in tomorrow after weigh in. Wish me luck!

Happy 4th of July-eve and Happy Birthday America
I am praying that all the talk of threats on our holiday don't pan out and it's a safe one...

Wildfire - That's true, I'll see my flag. A few days after Sept. 11th my friend in Rome, Italy sent me a pic he took of a vigil in downtown Rome. If it hadn't been for the background you'd have thought it was taken in Philadelphia or something. All American flags and people weeping... it was so moving (still is when I hear of other countries flying our flag in memory).

Sheila - Good for you!!! When it comes down to it you DO have to protect your family first and foremost. Hope the landlady eases up a bit and you find a place soon.

Flower - It's so good to see you here! How's the new job?

Well, my holiday will be spent painting my pump house and helping work on my new carport (no snow/ice on my windshield this winter!! ).
I'll also be giving thanks in my own way for all the wonderful privledges and rights we all have here in the U.S. I'm a little peeved at the timing of the whole pledge of allegance thing. They should've held off a bit before they dropped that bomb (regardless of how much I agree with them!).

Have a great holiday everyone - even you non-USA'ers - you should celebrate with us! A reason to party and BBQ!

Terri

I declared my INDEPENDENCE yesterday. I am free once again. As hard as it is and as much as I don't like admitting to failure, we are hurting each other way more staying together. He is not admitting defeat yet. He thinks I just need time. He went back to his same ways and I just became a recluse. We can not get ahead that way. I just didn't want to make it work I guess. Actually, I just didn't want to do anymore work without some solid evidence that he was going to do what he promised. His promises lasted only a few days.

So, I have a new job, a new single life. A new outlook. So, I am going to try to only think positive thoughts. No more for waiting for the good stuff. Live each day and stopping waiting on people. I am going to reaarange my room. Going to pack up the rest of his things that he couldn't take. (where did he go??? I have no idea. I think he was thinking of Ely NV but I could be wrong.) Make it a nice place to come home to. I haven't wanted to be home for months now.

I got on the scale yesterday 170. No progress but no set backs either. This is a good thing. I start lunch everyday at work with a salad. Then a piece of lean meat and a small piece of sugar free dessert. A diet soda. I just have to watch what I eat when I get home.

Hi to everyone. I will respond to everyone soon. I have to get my bearings. Hugs friends, thanks for caring!!!! ~flower

Flower - Congratulations and I'm sorry... all wrapped up in one big hug. I think rearranging things a bit is a very good idea. I also agree that waiting around for someone/something is something that all of us should quit doing (I've been guilty of this myself).
It's good to see you around again. Hang in there!

Hello Everybody
I know I havent been around latly but DS 5th birthday was the 3rd so I went over my friends house swam around in her pool (yup me too First time in a pool in front of people in 5 years) Then watch fireworks with the kids .
Yesterday we went to My moms and had a combo July4th cookout and celebrated sons Birthday (which was suppposed to be celebrated as well with my brothers that has same Bday as my son but he didnt show up) The cake was gorgeous Cholate with the US flag and a nice eagle on it with Happy Birthday Ed& Tim on it .Came home bought sparklers and poppers for kids (which a amber fell on my thighs burnt my thighs and then I stood up and the amber burnt a hole in my new outside chair padding..)Oh well could be worse.
Stepped on scale this morning saw a #2 gain which kinda ticked me off but I havent done much of exercise due to INTENSE heat so I am now 259.. But I do look pretty good in a suit even if I think so.. Now I gotta fix my big duck butt ( OH NO I have that DUCK A$$ that MY MOM has!!!!!)

(((((((flower))))))) I am sorry that things didnt work out but at least you gave it a shot..It wasnt a failure just personal differences.

Punkin I think I have a place available on the 16th of the month.. The mobile guy is on vacation so I wont hear a thing till Monday.. I am on pins and needles till then..

Vjestica Congrats on the Orange belt. Now you just have the red brown and black to go right?? Then your a master ..Then you can tell others to "snatch the stone from my hand, grasshopper" .. (OK I watch too many movies when I was younger I admit it)

Wildfire Congrats on being on day 28(?) now.. I will be getting on track real soon again the weather is cooler now.. MUCH cooler
Well all I will see you all on Monday , I have a hole lot of stuff to get done now that the 100 degree weather is not here..

Take Care
Sheila

Hey all!

Sorry I have been AWOL, it isn't really by choice more by neccesity. The summer semester is really short so things get all shoved together and I have 3 papers due next week and a test, but on a lighter note this is the last week of clinicals and it looks like I am getting and A, I have to type up a teaching project and write a letter to a congressman about women's health issues... any ideas?

Got to run will rejoin the living soon,

Amy

Hello everyone

I bought my first pair of non-Women's sized pants on Saturday! Beyond happy, thrilled and ecstatic... . Although, I was wondering if I was getting any "looks" for shopping in the "miss" department... I guess it'll take some time to get used to.

Busy weekend, had company ate out too much (was actually kidnapped and taken to Mexican restraunt!), but this week wasn't bad.

Amyjo - Hang in there through the summer semester!

Sheila - Your son's birthday cake sounds cute! Continued good luck on the new place - my finger's are crossed for ya!

Well, better get some work done...

Thumbs up

Hi again, just a quick check in…

I’ve been buried in books studying last few days – still am actually. Just came back from an exam, have three more in the next three days
I had a bad day yesterday – I suppose pre-exam anxiety – I eat almost everything from the fridge.
I’m so mad at myself because it was my weigh in two days ago and it turned out that I made a bet weight (187 lbs. or 85 kg – it turns out 1 kg is 2.2 lbs. not 2.23 as I thought). I was soooooo happy, and now to ruin it just like that… I’m trying really hard to get back on track today…
I see you all had fun for 4th of July – I so envy you! As soon as my exam season is over I’m off to Croatian cost (I have a house there, it’s beautiful during the summer) to swim my way out of a few more pounds.

I have to return to my books now, but I’ll write a nice post as soon as I’m free from university.
Enjoy!

Hello all

Nothing much going on... just going to try to stay cool though our heatwave coming - supposed to get up to 100 today. Well, at least I know I'll get all my water in!

Oh, and the Dr.'s office called.... they admitted they messed up and forgot to call and change my appointment. They decided last minute to close on Friday. Grrr... I don't know yet when I'll be able to reschedule.

Have a great (hopefully cool) day everyone!
