    Also -- sharing things like screen captures would be highly motivating to me to see what other people are doing and to see how "normal" (or not!) I am.

    Who else would really be interested? What do you think it should look like? Should it be a monthly general challenge with maybe weekly more-specific mini-challenges tossed in? Any ideas?

  • Okay, so I'm three days in with my brand new GoWear Fit! I love it! I'm obsessed (but in a fun way!).

    The first day I wore it was pretty normal. I went for a 30 minute walk in the morning, a 30 minute work at lunchtime, and I rode a horse in the evening for about 30 minutes. I was amazed to see that I apparently burned 4074 calories.

    Saturday was kind of a crazy day. I was at a horse show so I was running around and on my feet almost all day long. I rode a ton and helped out with stuff from 7 am to 7 pm. My GWF said I burned 4326 calories.

    It was humid and hot as **** both these days, if that makes any difference...

    Yesterday I was recovering from the horse show and I did practically nothing. I went grocery shopping and went to Best Buy to get a new laptop, but other than that (and cooking dinner) I sat on the couch all day setting up the new laptop. I burned 2515 calories.

    These led to calorie deficits of 2114, 2841, and 974.

    Today is a normal day. I went for a walk this morning, I'll go for a walk at lunch, and I'll play sand volleyball for about an hour tonight.

    I'm particularly interested in the calories I burn when riding. Step counters and those simple three-way accelerometers go kind of nut-so when I ride because it counts it as a LOT of steps. Even my GWF count step is insane. My "regular" day plus 20 minutes of riding was a tad over 10000 steps when I got on the horse at about 6 pm and then by the end of the day it was something insane like 23000 steps.

    Now, I realize that the GWF does count steps, but from what I understand, it is NOT using the number of steps to calculate caloric burn -- it's just an additional piece of information for the user. Does anyone else know this for sure? I'm probably going to call customer support today or tomorrow to discuss it with them. I'm going to definitely investigate the calories it says that I burn while I'm riding, though. It will take more days of data before I'll know for sure.

    So in total I'm really really thrilled with my GWF! I'm also going to call them and see if I can get the FITDAD discount retroactively. I ordered my GWF two or three days before they announced that discount so I want to try and get the money off!

  • Two weeks wearing the GWF and I'm down 6 lbs (9 total.) I think it's really awesome.
  • Has anyone INCREASED the amount of food that they've been eating based on their results? Meaning, how big a calorie deficit is TOO big? It's too soon to say that I need to make a change (only been on my "journey" for about 3 weeks) but if I'm getting a calorie deficit of 2000, should I change anything? Or just wait until I plateau or stop losing and THEN add in some extra calories?

    I'm very consistently eating about 1500 calories a day, and usually have one day a week where it is a few hundred calories higher. A practically comatose day for me burns 2500 calories. A fairly normal day burns 3500 calories. That means I'm usually seeing 1000 calorie deficit on slow days and 2000 calorie deficits on active days. I currently weigh just under 220.

    Any thoughts?
  • Not me. In the beginning, I did, because I was burning about 3000 plus a day. These days I'm only burning around 2300, and that's with an hour of some type of cardio everyday and adding ST every other day. But I give myself a 300 calorie margin for error, just in case. So I usually calculate my calories burned for the day at seven, any extra after that, I don't count for the day and so far that seems to be working great. I get my deficit, I lose a pound...Living by numbers baby.

    That's a good idea. I may start doing that...
