C(3) The Firm Challenge- Day 4

Sorry I'm in lurker mode, I've got a meeting tonight, and auditions for "The King and I" tomorrow night. It's my first week back at work after break and I'm a little short on time.
  • Curly, you inspire me! I did 30 minutes on zelle tonight too. She groaned and creaked, complaining about such hard work after weeks of neglect. So I pulled out the old WD-40, and she has a lot less to say now. I, however, am still as creaky as ever.

So I'm okay for all 3 challenges: Day 5 on water, Day 4 on exercise, and Day 4 on the wine/choc ban.

Red, I hate to rain on your parade, but I heard a vicious rumour that there are actually calories in beer.... maybe not in Japanese beer? What ARE we going to do with you! Was the ground too frozen to ride?

Fish, there'll be time enough to get back in the challenge saddle after your cruise. You may find some more of the Xmas bloat will go away too.

Marble, the diet doc is a local family doctor who got interested in weight loss, and wanted (I think) less stressful work. he offers a food exchange type diet, lo-carb and highish protein, lots of veggies, and very sensible. He's an amateur athlete himself, but has been known to put on weight when he slacks off. It's mainly weekly weigh-ins and a brief chat with a counsellor (or the doc from time to time). But there's no requirement to weigh in weekly, no penalties for missed weeks, and the very low fee can be "spent" on things like whey protein shakes. I don't know why it's working for me - there's nothing magic in it.
Next time I'm in the US I'll look for a Vic's Secret and look at a tanga or two - by then I may be looking at a smaller size, with less squishy stuff in front.

Stage, good luck with the audition!

Apple, you said all the "good" beer was gone. Has Red been visiting you?

And greetings to those I've omitted.
  • yeah dang zelle... i just had to pay another 30 minutes so i could watch the biggest loser!!

i have to go see the endocrinologist on the 27th.. will be the first time back to see him since i started this journey.. the times i went back for bloodwork.. i just saw the nurse..
  • Now that the holidays are over and I have a spare moment. *sigh* its been a rough bit for me.

Anyhoo. Starting over yet again. Ugh, I'm so mad at myself. First 21 day challenge. No soda for 21 days. Lets see if I make it through tomorrow.
  • Water Challenge day 4 complete!

    Keep on Truckin!
    Erin
  • A(3) - DAY 4 (Jan. 4) all 3 are done, I seem to pee more than ever before..weird...
B(3) food - Day 3 (Jan. 4) this was hard I had to work till 8:30 almost....mad, but that guy from work suggestes something about postions opened in their company...him and his boss offered to take me to lunch....hmm I will think, I am worried he will show up w/o the boss....though it would be nice to finally meet him in person.
C(3) excersize - Day 3 (Jan. 3) Did T. excersices at home, she stopped by and directed me....
  • Both challenges clear for today! Hurrah! Too much going on to post. Just rack up another point for me...
  • Do you have room for another challenged challenger?

My first challenge is to go 21 days without buying unhealthy snacks for work. I am going to stock low fat granola bars, and single serving packages of craisens. I will not stock anything, even low fat baked chips, that don't come in single servings, as it is too hard to stop at a portion.

I really need to break my overeating up into smaller issues, and tackle them one at a time. I have been doing well with working out, so don't feel that needs to be a challenge at this point (though, if I don't get my butt off the computer and to the gym . . . ), and have even been doing the hated weights! But self medicating my stress disorder with food still continues to be an issue. I recently received a promotion, and though I am calmer about it than I imagined, I am still munching a lot to get through the day . . .

Anyway, after being so long winded, I hope you don't mind me just jumping in
  • Day 3 is done with water and portions. The desire to eat without reason is rearing it's ugly head again. I guess I will just have to hunker down and wait for this to pass. Another reason to keep a boring refrigerator.

I know why they reckon you lose weight when you drink lots of water - it's not the water itself at all, it's the exercise you get running for the loo every flaming five minutes of the day and night.
  • lol thats what i thought also shad..but after a while your body adjusts to the extra water and the trips to the potty slow down...
  • Hi all;
I am new to this site and would love to start a challenge. I will start with 2 challenges today. First: drink 2 liters of water a day, level 1. Second: do crunches every day, level 2. I have been skimming this thread for a few days and figured I would jump on and make myself "accountable" to what seems to me like a great bunch of interesting and uplifting people. Thanks for being here and wish me luck!

  • Red, if I'm not mistaken, we're about 2 days away from a new thread??!!!! I agree that the caffeine one gets easy fairly quickly, although the weaning period can be pretty bad. Kudos on sticking with the crunches in spite of being so busy! And about that busy-ness: are you getting rich working lots, socializing with some hot young colleague, or getting in a ton of dressage time? Do find a moment to fill us in. My life is pretty boring these days - my cats and I live vicariously thru Marble and you...
  • Carla, you don't want my life, believe me! All I do is work or worry lately.

And HOW do you survive without Victoria's Secret stores? there must be a canadian version? (look at the tangas online, it is a flattering v-cut front & back lace panty-short-thing, worth the $30. a pair---this is the 50% off sale time).

    Day #2
10 mins. of interval training. I am excited that I can actually lift a 5 lb. wt. over my head! My ortho is visiting down the floor, so i went to show him what a *star-pupil* I am. But I have this weird-looking indentation where the fracture was? hope it goes away in time....

Another exciting item....I have been trying on clothes that were previously un-wearable...now it's not such a joke!
  • Morning all. Yes, the new thread will be coming up soon as I plan on finishing this double challenge on Sunday I believe. It has actually NOT been easy, though it has been doable, and I try to make light of things. The lows without the caffeine are pretty hard to get through if I plan on doing anything more than sitting around or walking, but I try to get the harder exercise in in the morning, that's why it's been possible. I used to train after work and when I went off caffeine then it was horrible. I would just slog in and not be able to do anything. It took about a year before my body started learning how to make its own energy. This is what's horrible about overdosing on caffeine. It beats the adrenal glands to a pulp and they become exhausted. It takes a long, long time before you recover.

Well, carla, things are tough and I don't like to talk about them when they are, thus the quiet. When the going is really rough, I only want to put my head down and trudge on. That's all I can do. Suffice it to say, that I am neither making even enough money to cover expenses (though I work), having any fun with young men (though I drink with them and older ones) or getting in GOOD dressage time (though I have been on and OFF the horse a lot). I am telling you this so you stop living vicariously and get out there yourself! Right now, I am about to just say, forget it! to getting out into the cold and to the gym before work...we will see.

Just let you know that I have taken on yet another burden in the shape of a white cat, who, now thanks to the neglect of ignorant hicks, is minus an eye. I am trying to care for her so she doesn't lose more. I brought her back to Tokyo yesterday and she is at the vet. The one eye is totally infected and the eye is beyond saving. I really don't want to go into it here. I have to help when I see things like this...it makes me so angry.

Well, no time anymore. jolly, it's good to see you! Popping in and posting is what everyone does. That's how we start. A lot of people just pop in and we never hear from them anymore but we have our regulars. I know you're a real trooper so I expect to see you around. Good luck! You've got a great challenge and with that planning you're doing, you will get through your first round in no time!

And welcome to Zoe too! and Good luck! CBETA, chai, curly, Shad, marble, Silly, stage, Sushi, Apple, Fish, anyone else, sorry for the lack of personalized attention from me, but I've just been a bit overwhelmed with it all. Hang in there with your challenges and good luck!
