  • today's my 4 month Dukanniversary!!

And amazingly, I have been on plan this whole time.
  • Samadhi- haha! I live in Denver! Really for me it's been all about cruising the spice aisles and reading labels. I just got some thai red curry paste that has no sugar in it. Can't wait to try it out. Plus I like any kind of hot pepper I can find so I use those a lot as well.

larva225- I read that guy's entire blog about his Dukan experience. It was great! The asparagus really does work. I'm making some tonight for tomorrow's lunch!
  • Another great week - down 3 lbs. This is over 50 lbs in 18 weeks.

I expect to see a run on eggplant any day now! lolol! I'm sure the daily exercise is playing a big part but I am not discounting the eggplant because that was the one new thing I added to what I've been eating. Plus it tastes really good and I really look forward to my PV days when I eat it.
  • Mandy -

I'm in Denver too! When you cook that spicy meal for Samadhi, I'll come and say hello but I don't like most spicy stuff. I love wasabi and ginger which has its own form of spiciness but not hot pepper.
  • AprilSnow - cogratulations on the 4 month Dukanverssary!

Everyone seems to be doing so well.

I was careful at the Thai restaurant - had a dish with eggs in it lol and broccoli with garlic. I managed to resist the noodles and rice.

Yesterday was my toughest day so far - I had a very physical day - we ran a garage sale, and then worked on the vegetable garden harvesting leeks and squashes. I felt drained and hungry all day. I don't think it helped that it was a PP day. I drank some extra skimmed milk which helped a bit - it was a bad day - but I didn't go off plan which I am pleased about. It was just the sort of day when I could easily have eaten a bag of crisps or a chocolate bar.

I've decided to weigh myself every Thursday (which will fit in with the PP thursdays when I get that far!) so no results on additional weight loss yet.
  • I have been having a terrible time getting on this site. I keep getting a "script error" and then it locks up my computer.

DO NOT like not being able to check in...
  • This is my second go at DUkan, I lost 12 kg on it in 2008/2009 (from 71 kg to 59) and put back on 7 kilos so now I am working hard at getting them off again! I have done 3 weeks and am 3 kilos down. I would like to take off another 5 which is not such an unrealistic goal! I am only 5ft2 so if I can get down to 60-58 kilos, I will at least be able to buy off the rack clothes in reasonable sizes and not look like a complete whale, even if I will not be a top model size!
I find it harder the second time around but at the same time the old habits do come back. I am not so hard on myself as the first time and allow myself an occasional piece of fruit and this weekend it was a friend's birthday so I had a little piece of cake. but then straight back down to routine!

Someone who was on attack complained of headache. I think this is because of the cutting out of sugar and not actually of the diet itself. I noticed this too both times and quite a few sugar cravings but after a while on the diet I find those go away. Your body has to adjust to living without processed sugar and getting its energy otherwise! poor thing, we gave it so many sweet treats, it has a hard tome going cold turkey! But i found that after the first time I did Dukan, I found fatty and overly sweet food nauseating and I could not eat very big portions any more.
I put the weight back on in my mind from not following the one day PP a week, and from starting to eat bread and carbs again too often, rather than from occasional indulgences. Next time, once I am back at goal weight, I will be doing regular exercise again and staying off the bread as much as possible!
Sorry that was rambling, I just wanted to say hi!
  • welcome Antipodes!!

And thanks for sharing your story. As much as my focus is on losing weight, my bigger focus is always about wanting this to be a permanent change for me, and it was very helpful to read your experiences about what did and didn't work for you once you had lost the weight originally.

Are you using Internet Explorer as your web browser? I have this problem at work where I have to use IE, but it does not happen at all when I'm home using Firefox. If you can, I would try switching browsers to see if that helps.
  • Antipodes!!

I see you are from the "home" of Dukan.

Great advice you gave in your post and I will keep that in mind when I finally reach my goal.

April: I will try that, thanks...
  • Hi everyone! Saw my doctor today. She was very impressed by my progress (down 22 lbs now) and said to keep it up. She said she'd been doing a lot of reading on protein diets and that she was convinced this was a good approach to weight loss. It was my doctor who originally suggested Dukan.

I made an amazing dijon pork tenderloin with roasted asparagus this past weekend and I'm working on a pumpkin mousse recipe that uses silken tofu (you can't tell, I promise). Does anyone want the recipes? Both are super simple and completely Dukan approved ingredients!
  • I'd love the pork tenderloin recipe! I won't bother with the mousse, I'm sure it will taste good but I've been doing fine skipping desserts completely so I may as well just keep doing that. For me, it's easier to just cut them out completely for now, and make it that much sooner that I can enjoy a weekly dessert as part of my Celebration Meal once I'm in Conso.

It's so cool that your doctor is impressed and recommending Dukan - I don't have any doctor's appts scheduled right now, but I'm almost looking forward to going and getting weighed! lol!
  • " but I'm almost looking forward to going and getting weighed! lol! "

    April bite your tongue!!!!
