Morning all! I'm on to my 3rd day of being back on Core. It feels great! I'm walking today with my mom, thanks to my husband being williing to watch the girls yet again.

Do you remember all the trouble my poor dd #2 had last week? UTI and strep at the same time? Well, yesterday she developed a rash, so back we went to the doctor. She said it was most likely a penicillin allergy! I'm not horribly surprised, since I, and most of my family, are allergic, but still, poor girl, is there no end for her? Luckily, she'd pretty much finished the course of penicillin, so we don't need to do any more meds right now. And her urine culture was clean, so at least it worked! This morning she's coughing, and it sounds very croupy. She's prone to croup. Anyway, at least this is all happening over vacation when we have plenty of free time.

I'm happy to see some new people. It seems like they come in groups, huh? It's great to have the new enthusiasm, mixed with the wisdom of the regulars.

Well, on with life today.

Good Morning Chicks! Wow no Frouf or Sandra last night. I'm surprised!

I slept a little later today, probably because I slept so badly the night before last. I'll be talking to the Doc today after 11:00, hoping that the labs showed a bacteria and that I can be spared the CT scan and the hated barium tomorrow. I do feel ashamed for dreading the test since my Niece (and one of my best friends) is going through an amnio as we speak. I'm SURE she'd rather trade test places with me. We could use some prayers that all is well with her baby. She's almost 39 and having her first.

Thanks for your sweet comments about my picture. I'm still feeling huge but I know that I look much better with the 45 pounds off. My eyes are visible now!

Kathy, I hope you guys are safe from the fires. You really must check in or we all will be worried.

Linda, how's it going? It's always good to hear from you.

Melissa, I'm having a bit of trouble getting back on the wagon myself. Mostly because I don't want to cook and am feeling sorry for myself.

Saundra, I hope your kids make the drive safely. Are they coming in from school? I LOVE meatloaf and have perfected a Core meatloaf using couscous as the binder. Jim won't eat it so I make one and cut it up into individual servings and then vacuum seal it and freeze it. I also freeze leftover Core mashed potatoes. The ultimate comfort meal. I'll have this for lunch when we aren't having potato/rice/pasta for dinner.

Angela, you're my hero! I'm so glad that you are doing well and are back on program. Poor DD. I hope she continues to get better. There is NOTHING worse than not feeling well. It sure affects everything we do.

Hey, Kath, how come I can't see anyone else's pictures in their profiles? All I see is the box with the red "X" in it. I don't think I've been able to see them since the conversion.

Hey, Jim, and I and our friend were in the crowd picture yesterday! The picture was in today's newspaper and is defintely a keeper. I looked for it online but only the story is available. 1200 people showed up yesterday and 2000 the day before. Lots of money is being made for White Sox charities!

Angela, poor DD! Bless her little heart. I'm so sorry that you all are going through this. Because I'm sure that you are ALL going through it!

Vickie, let us know what the doc says! Prayers and good thoughts to your niece as well. And to be honest, I think you are doing AMAZING for all the trouble that you've had. I would have already thrown in the towel and moved into McDonald's. So don't forget how SUCCESSFUL you've been through all of this!

Last night, believe it or not, I started feeling SICK! Sick, sick, SICK! UGH! I can't remember having such an odd assortment of symptoms at the same time: sore throat, tingling skin, headache, nausea, and extreme tiredness. I wonder if it was because I had gotten up so early yesterday? I got up at 2:30 and didn't go back to sleep until I feel asleep while watching TV. When I was little, I couldn't go to sleepovers where there was going to be no sleep because I always got sick. My mom finally learned to say no after figuring that out.

Anyway, so Judd had gone bowling for the weekly league but since we're off work he went at 1:00 yesterday instead of 6:00 last night. At about 4:30 I was just starting to feel bad so I climbed in the bathtub to sit. He called and said bowling was over and they were going to play putt-putt. (I'm thinking, whoa, is this your birthday or something???) He wanted me to go but I said no, I feel bad. He said okay, they'd be home in a couple of hours. Uh, yeah, okay. At 7:45 I called his friend's cell phone. They were at Hooters, eating. Said I'll be home in a little while. I asked if he would bring me some Motrin because I was feeling really bad by now -- he said sure. Uh, yeah, okay (again). He got home a little after 10:00. I was ticked.

But I slept until 10:00 this morning. He left at 7:00 to go ride dirt bikes with another friend (I swear, maybe this really *IS* his birthday and I've missed it!!!). I'm left with trash duty, dog feeding/pottying duty, a messy house, don't feel well, and someone's coming to fix the microwave door handle. I don't want to deal with it but evidently I'm a single lady these days.

Now let's see ... Saundra, I'm sure your kids will be careful. I also can't imagine bad weather right now since it's another hot one here today.

Angela, your poor little DD! It's time for her to catch a break. On one hand, it's nice that it's over the break, but I'm sure she'd like to feel better so she can have fun playing with big sissy! I hope she gets better very soon.

Melissa, that's a good quote. A REALLY good one. Funny how these things strike us, isn't it. Enjoy your pizza tonight. As bad as I feel, pizza sounds good so whenever the repairman leaves, I'm off to the store to buy a few LC pizzas.

Kathy, I'm so sorry that you feel bad and no one is there to take care of you! How many kids did you say that you have? Anyway, I hope that you are getting lots of rest and taking care of yourself. Take a nap and let the repairman go buy you some pizzas. Or better yet, have one delivered. Oops, did I say that?

Kathy, your symptoms sound like the flu. I hope you take good care of yourself and the pups of course. I'd let the rest sit for Judd when he gets home. He is kinda inconsistent, isn't he? What's up with the fires?

Melissa, in my heart I now you're right about my success. I'm just having a bit of a pity party right now. I'm sure I'll feel MUCH better after the test is over tomorrow.

Vickie, you nailed that just right. The emotional roller-coaster and inconsistencies are enough to drive me crazy. I never know how he's going to be from day to day ... the only thing for sure is that I have to keep my expectations low and realize I can't count on him for anything.

As for fires, it's amazing at how many people are blatantly defying the burn ban! One of yesterday's fires, about a mile from the ballpark, was set by 5 kids. When the news helicopter approached, they ran off. I think they came back later to finish stomping it out, but it managed to burn quite a bit of land. There were no homes nearby, thank goodness.

Last night I heard them say if someone so much as lights a sparkler over New Year's, they're going to file charges. Humidity is down to 8% and the winds are still up. I'd like to finish up with the repairman soon so I can go to the store and get back by the afternoon. I need to wet down the fences and grass again. PLUS ... it's hard to be outside in the afternoon because of the smoke in the air. I'd rather not breathe it in right now, especially if I'm not feeling well.

Vickie, I just want to remind you of how well you are doing. I'm so impressed by you.

Kathy, take care! I can't imagine what all that smoke is like. When we lived "in the mountains" we had a lot of fires, but I'm sure it was nothing like what you are experiencing. And you sure don't want to breathe that in any more than necessary.

Angela, I sure hope your daughter gets better soon. I remember those days, when it was one thing after another. When they are young and not well, it is so pathetic.

The kids are son and his beautiful wife and 19 month old son. They left at 11:00 and I checked the road conditions and they are pretty good. It's above freezing now, so the ice should start to melt. Dh spent over an hour on the driveway before going to work.
