Good morning all MFers! It really cracks me up everytime... (MFers!)
This morning I told my oldest DH he gets to play hooky! He's on half days all week for teacher/parent confrences and my youngest DS is having a feild trip to the pumpkin farm. We have to meet at the farm at 10:10 and we live half an hour from it, sooooo, by the time we take the tour and pick a pumkin and socialize, Sol would have been out of school for about 2 hours! LOL. He gets out at 12:20 this week, theres just not enough time to run back and forth. Eh, one half day missed of 1st grade? so sue me... lol. Its an absolute gas telling him he GETS to Play HOOKY! He truly thinks I am the living end! Ahhhhh, so easy to please, if only...
Anyways, Susan, They'll probably have things way up to speed by Feb, do you think? I have mixed feelings about cruises, I still want to spend all day on space mountain, cruises dont have rides (although they really are just one BIG ride, right?) Oh, it sounds like so much fun! All that family! You all get along I take it? No alcoholics, drug addicts or democrates I assume! LOL Jesh, I am yuck'n it up this morning, if only in my own head. (really, I love all political veiwpoints. Dems just seem to be more passionate sometimes. Im independant. Check this, 2 elections I voted for Perot!) So, hopefully things'll look closer to normal by then.
Jacque, I am so stoked to see your progress, WAY TO GO!!!!!! I LOVE that your nurse thought she had done it wrong, he he he he. I would have loved to be there! Hold on to this confidence boost and remeber it always, YOU ROCK!!!!!!

2 more days til Halloween! Everyone ready? I have to sew up my costume today, jesh, talk about waiting til the last minute, I just cut out the pattern last night. Oh, and by the by, I didnt realize I bought a too big pattern! I had to go through and alter the whole thing! Hope it works, I dont alter patterns often, because Im not very good at it... I was real careful this time though. we'll see

Hello Everyone
I am so happy with my progress. The scale keeps going down I did have an emotional breakthrough over the weekend about my lifelong pattern of compulsive overeating which has been blocking my progress. With the help of great book about getting to the reasons behind overeating, I really zeroed in on my underlying problems and that was cathartic and wonderful too.
I went to a Lap Band seminar last night to see what it was all about. Well, my insurance won't cover it until next year. Just another sign that I should stick to Medifast.

This is the first Halloween that I won't be face down in the candy bowl I am planning on a vanilla pudding with some PB2 for flavor.

Oh Missy..... If you only know what I have in my family.
I do have one person who was very close to me, we grew up like sisters & she is everything you said rolled in to one. A drunk, drug addict (street or prescription), thief, chronic liar, master manipulater. Most of us in the family have all very recently (this past March) done the "dis-own" thing & removed her from our lives. Hard at first, but it is very nice to not have her drama everyday now. Have you ever seen that show intervention on A&E channel? If you have, then you can only imagine what we have lived with.
I guess you figured it out by now we leave her home. LOL

I hear you loud and clear about the Halloween candy. I can eat candy till there is no end in sight. We usualy have a Halloween party every Halloween night, bon fire and all. This year we are not doing it for a few different reasons & will not be home, but it works out great for me because I have not bought one package of candy to hand out. In the past I would have eaten half of it before Halloween night & would have to go get more. Not this year What was the name of the book you read? That might be an interesting read for me. Congratulations on your MF progress. So far so good, I'm still on plan. It really is a great plan. Do you have any complaints about the program?

SUSAN: The book I am talking about is called The Alcoholism and Addiction Cure by Chris Prentiss. It is advertised a lot on CNN. When I first saw the commercial I thought it was just another flaky book but I felt compelled to buy it anyway from Amazon where it has been reviewed by many readers.
What this book said just clicked for me on an emotional level and was able to recognize my underlying issues that fuel my bingeing. Since then, I have stayed on program without experiencing the overwhelming cravings that sabotaged my previous attempts. Like I said, there are lot of reviews on Amazon that both love and hate the book.

Hi everyone. I'm exhausted and depressed. The good news is, it's just TOM (well, PMS right now) so I know it's hormonal and just pushing through it. Still on plan and loving it, though I'm staying OFF that scale at least until TOM is over ... I just know I bloat up and the scale will dissapoint me (once I gained a total of 7 pounds just from my period .. it went away as soon as it was over, of course, but man, was it hard to see on the scale). So I'll wait till it's over before I take a look again. It's funny that a few of you mentioned that you like weighing everyday .. for me the scale is such a sabotaur regardless of whether it goes up or down. Up makes me upset and demoralized, Down makes me a bit too relaxed and more prone to cheating. So staying off it this week even though it's calling my name and even though I"m dying to move my ticker along.

Missy - I'm a bit late, but .... a 401K is so not worth you and your boys going through that kind of suffering and turmoil. Don't get me wrong, the financial security is a big deal. Have you seen a lawyer to at least get a sense of what you would be entitled to if you filed for divorce down the road? It might be worth it for your peace of mind (I bet it's more than you think).

Djay - cool beans on getting checked out .. was he hot? LOL. As for the scale getting stuck, just brainstorming: did you cut out your fiber? maybe it's affecting the scale. Or I'm thinking maybe it's time for you to have a bit of a cheat meal. Maybe that's crazy, but everywhere I hear how sometimes to get unstuck, you should shake things up a bit. Of course, that's only if it won't trip you up a lot.

Dan-O - what are you up to with all free time? I know you had some trouble putting up your picture ... any tips for me on how to get mine up?

Catwu - that sounds like a really interesting book. The one book I read that really clicked with me was Body Clutter. In some ways, it's very basic, but they give you questions to answer and I was so surprised at the things I thought of. I cried answering those questions and knew the book had hit a nerve. In fact, I have to go back to it because I only went 1/3 of the way before I put it aside, in large part, because I don't think I was ready to deal with the emotional stuff (that was like a year ago). I think I'm ready for it now.

Susan - that cruise sounds amazing. More so because of all the family that comes together. I always envy people that enjoy hanging out with their extended relatives ... I never feel like myself around my family so I don't like being around them for more than a few hours or I start to feel very, very claustrophic.

Thanks Missy!!!! And best thing you can do for a Drunk or Addict is Let them Go and Stay away from them and ironically, the best thing for you too. THEY MUST reach their bottom, sadly never do and so many family members literally LOVE them to DEATH! Sad. So great you took care of yourself and also did what was best for the addict in your life. Great Job!

Hi itstime, I manage to stay extremely busy, blessed to have such a full life for sure! The only advice I know about the posting of avatar pics is my photo was too big and I found someone to crop/shrink it for me. Outta my league, but after smaller it would accept it and fit, etc. Sorry not more help.......

After speaking with my physician, I have decided to take his advice and go back on Nutrisystem. Dr. Abrams was concerned about the amount of calories in the Medifast diet and felt that I might have galbladder issues on a mostly liquids diet when I transition back to real food because my galbladder will be sluggish and not remember how to process solid food, (I have had galbladder issues in the past.) In addition, he felt that my blood sugar would be better regulated on Nutrisystem, (I have hypoglycemia,) and he feels I will have better success with this program as he is worried about me losing too much weight too fast.


I think I was leaning that way anyway. I always had a headache and felt run down on the days that I'd follow the plan. Sometimes I would cheat because I'd start sweating and shaking and would only feel better when eating a piece of bread or other carb, but that loses the whole purpose of the plan. The whole reason I went on this plan is because I hit a plateau on NS, but we will see if I can break through it!

I am sure this is a great plan for most, but I suppose everyone's body is different and responds in different ways to things.

Ya'll have been wonderful support and I have enjoyed talking to you. I wish you the best of luck on your weight loss journeys. I guess I'll mozy my bum on down to the NS forum.

lovediet - definitely follow you gut instinct (and your doc's advice on this one). The number one thing is to stay healthy!!! You certainly gave it your best shot and, if you've been feeling so crappy all along, then obviously your body is not responding to it well. Best of luck!!!!!!

And, I had to buy some of those canvas, boy scout type belts awhile back so I wouldn't be out there mooning everyone in the mine. I still don't like wearing belts, but I couldn't afford to keep buying new pants every 3 weeks.
