  • Emilymay -- I know what you mean! And I'm not going anywhere!! I'm just shifting focus.
  • Wish we could trade places in terms of what you have acheived but I guess theres no shortcuts to real long term succes in changing eating habits and exercise habits of a lifetime
  • pochita way to go on your weight loss.. i hope you feel better soon!
  • Good Luck Heather with maintaining... I am sure your gonna do well! 120 pounds off is just so fantastic!

Well I have something to focus on now towards my weight loss.... I just booked my holiday for next year... somewhere I have wanted to go for so long and now it's booked for next December so I have a big goal to work towards!

It's my 30th Birthday Present to myself! A trip to New York!
  • thats a great inspiration !
  • Hey guess what? I went for a walk at 8pm, even tho it was cold and dark, I went for a walk round the block (which is quite big!) took 25 mins, am so pleased with myself, haven't done any exercise out of work for a long time. Only downer is that my knees are really hurting me, they have been like that for a couple of weeks since I walked my mums dogs in the mud and it was slippy, that seemed to have started it off,,,,hope it goes quick and its really hard to enjoy walking when you feel like your knees are about to go!!

But am pleased, maybe that is the first sign of the changes I need to make??

Maz - your hol sounds fabby what a great motivator!!
  • emilymay that is good start for you! way to go on the exercise l
  • Jill, I KNOW how hard it is to resist carrot cake with cream cheese frosting. I am so proud of you for resisiting it.

Ammi, How cool, you're down another 3 pounds. That's so awesome.

Xena, What a great day you had! Really!! One piece of cake isn't horrid. And you didn't snack the rest of the afternoon. And you had another nsv when you did so well at Wendy's. (they're my fav fast food place)
And exercising instead of going for ice cream. HOORAY for you!

Emilymay, Congrats on your long walk! It's hard to get on the exercise wagon. I struggle every day with it. Parking a little further away from the door at work, WALKING during my break instead of sitting in the breakroom, standing up and moving around at my desk while on the phone. It all adds up. And it's just important to MOVE OUR BODIES.

Thngs have been INSANE at work. (customer service) Everyone is SO CRANKY!!!
One of my customers sent me a can of those wonderful butter cookies. I had some, but brought most home for my dd and sd to eat.
We had a "cook out" today and I had two cheese burger patties and a brat....but NO BUNS! Then just chicken and a little potato for dinner. Not the best day, but way better than I would have been in the past. And, I counted everything.
I hope all of you are well......and if not well, I hope you're improving.

Sorry no more personals, I'm just glad to be checking in.
    Hugs,
  • emilymay and sandy -- I really do think that we need to not only focus on where we want to be, but where we were! Sandy would have eaten worse last year, and emilymay wouldn't have walked on bum knees! WTG!

There are no shortcuts. We have to retrain our brains and bods!
  • Hello, my favorite chickadees! Just checking in for the evening. My weigh in is tomorrow and not sure what to expect. Like last week, the food hasn't be great but I have kept up with the exercise. I will be thrilled to just have stayed the same. Also, tomorrow I get to learn about the changes WW is making to the program. I confess I have been reading about them online but will be good to learn them first hand from my leader.

Heather - As Chandler Bing might say, "Could you BE more sane?" Seriously, I really admire your sanity and your consciousness in all of this. It's certainly something to aspire to. I hope you enjoy maintenance and easing up just a bit. I hope being on maintenance doesn't mean you won't be out here posting with us as often. We would miss you!!!

Heathen - I understand very well trying to get back on the exercise bandwagon. I used to be the model exerciser doing it almost everyday. I also weighed ALOT less then. Go figure! Anyway, now I am trying to get back into the swing of things and have FINALLY been having a bit of success. My fist suggestion would be to try morning exercise. Like you, I was always too tired after work to exercise, so I do it before work. That's what I was doing when I was extremely consistant with it and it just became part of my morning routine. It's a hard habit to make though. They way I first did it was to sleep in my exercise clothes (no kidding!) and my shoes next to the bed so all I had to do was get up, put them on, and get started. My second suggestion is to start out small. It can be daunting to think you have to do a whole hour or even half an hour. Even doing just 5 or 10 minutes is a start and you can build from there. My last suggestion is to make it as convenient as possible. For me that means have various workout DVD's at home and I recently purchased a Gazelle to use at home. Anyway, hope that helps some. Keep us posted how you are doing!

Lilion - Thanks so much for the recipe! I can't wait to try it. I probably will make it for people at Christmas just for something different.

Terry - Congrats on another 3 pounds down.

Sandy - Thanks very much for your encouraging words.

OK, gotta run. I want to go get a bit of weights in this evening before I go to bed. Will be back later to post my minutes. Take care everyone!
  • Andy, Abby & I got the gazelle together....FINALLY!!!
It's SO much fun! I only did 10 minutes, but my legs were burning, my heart poundin' and I sure was HOT! I can't believe how easy it was to put together when I FINALLY had all the parts. (made a trip to the hardware store after work for missing parts!) And, it's not hard like an elliptical. We have the pistons so as we get stronger we can increase the tension. I am so excited to have the machine together, been on it and know I can actually FIT on it, work up a sweat and have A GREAT TIME all at once.
Thanks for letting me ramble on girls. For those of you that have the Gazelle, you know what fun it is. For those of you who know how long I've put off getting it together, IT'S DONE!! AND FUN!!!
I hope to get on it first thing in the morning. Even if it's only 10 minutes, it's a great start for me!!!
  • Sandy it's great to see you posting again AND that you are a 'gazelle girl', lol.Xxxxxxx
Xena, a small 'blip' is nothing at all, at least you were in control and limited potions! Well done! Thanks for the compliment, I'll be 42 in February, hope, it sees me a few more pounds down!xxxxx
Emily, another UK chick! There's now Ammi, me & Mazarin! (yes I remember you, WELCOME BACK!xxxx) When you said two stone I choked, then looked at where you were, lol. I have to convert everything into stones to make it 'real' for me, lol. WTG on the walking, like Sandy said, every move helps.xxxx
Annie, I have 80 mins to add for the exercise thread but TOM is being weird, starting/stopping & I feel totally drained, I have massive bags under my eyes to show how shattered I am, lol. I got your lovely card a few days ago, can't remember if I said so before. WTG on getting on your bike.xxxxx
I have to go, my parents are still here, & things are quite hectic. I'm off out on Friday with my sis & friend for a few drinks, we only go out on birthdays & special times so it should be great. I wish I could scoll back & comment on everyone BUT I have no time but I do read everything & think of you all.
    xxxxxxx sharon
  • Xena -- I loved the Chandler Bing connection and laughed!
Don't worry, I'll still be here!!!

    See u later
