Re the yoga/tai chi...
I've tried to do yoga but my body just isn't able to hold those poses right now. maybe you will though so you should at least try it. Tai chi is much like yoga but it's a standing thing, so I think if you were to try that it would be perfect for you. I have a tai chi DVD here and it's no impact at all.
If anyone knows of any yoga DVD's that are easier to do than others? let me know. I've wanted to do yoga for a long time. I cannot fold my legs up over my knees, etc so that's the problem here. That's the 'intro' part of it and even that I can't do yet.
I do have 2 other workout DVD's though that although I find are a little fast for me, will become do-able as time goes on. One is crunch cardio dance party and the other is turbo jam.

How stupid of me not to think of that!
I now have half a cake in my kitchen and I have no idea what I am going to do with it.
I have always been a very flexible person (who knows how that happened)--I have always been able to (and still can) kepp my feet together and bend all the way over at the waist and touch the floor flat-palmed without bending my knees at all. I had friends in high school/college who could run a mile in 5 minutes but couldn't even bend half as far as me. I could also always (and still can) do a full backbend from a standing position. However, as was mentioned, there are plenty of things I can't do simply because there's, umm, stuff in the way. One thing I long to do that I haven't been able to do for as long as I can remember is just sit on the floor with my knees pulled in to my chest. I can't ever gett my knees in close enough to be comfortable because my big belly is always in the way. Ah well, someday...
