Maria - When I read things like that about working conditions, I am so very, very glad I was born in this age. I cannot even imagine working in those "utopian" conditions. And what about Mrs. McIntyre! What a witch, huh? Makes you wonder what the "unimproved" working conditions were.

All - I wonder if any of you will hear about OSU's memorial service. Remember the 10 men who died in the plane crash in January in CO? We are dedicating this crash site tomorrow. It is out in the boonies and is a beautiful memorial, but I wonder who will ever see it again. Anything to help the families, but I don't think I would want to see the place where my dear one died.

I am doing so good on WW. If I can just keep stringing these days together!

I haven't fallen off the face of the earth. Just working at the computer and learning and also being frustrated at times.

Trudy: Welcome to the GERD club. I hate to tell you that chocolate, peppermint, pineapple, strawberries, alcohol,and caffiene, are the worst offenders. Tomato sauce is also one of the trouble makers. Are you taking Previcid, or Prilosec, or Zantac? I believe there is also a new one just out a short time made by the makers of Prilosec. The endoscopy is not so bad, expecially if your Dr. knocks you out during the procedure. I can commiserate with you, just from experience. Stick to your diet, and you'll be okay. Also, elevate the head of your bed, so you don't get the reflux during the night. You'll experiment, until you find the things that really bother you. And then you have to decide if it is worth it to eat it.

Peggy: The castle sounds great, but I think you were bery brave to go walking and climbing without handrails. And don't you wonder about parents, sometimes. Just like here, right now there are sharks migrating along the east coast, and there still nut cases who want to swim, and then get attacked. Are you still a prisoner in you cellar working on snowmen?

Karen: Sorry to read about your Aunt. And it sure sounds like you are really busy. Today was my weigh-in and up again.6. It is the yoyo syndrome.

Maria: your posts have been too funny. You are right, men are the same the world over. and I'm gald I don't have to worry about keeping up the garden. Fancy p.j's are good. The 2 days I spent in the hospital after my bout with Vioxx, I had to wear the fancy 'Dior' gown with the special back opening, and the pocket in the front. YUK Glad you are all set up to get your foot work done. I'm sure you will be glad when that is all behind you.

Lily: Are you still having power problems? We are still praying for rain. No one really wants a tropical storm, but I guess that is what will bring the rain.

NBot to far off and you get your feet done. I think it is a good idea that you stay for the week. You need DH to help at least for a few days so you are able to get around on your own. Im sure they will show you how to manage that before you leave the hospital. At least I hope they do!

Ann: No we are not still having power problems. Well I shouldnt say we are not, but they are not doing the Black outs at this time and havent for a while now. You will get use to the Computer. It does take time, but you will love it!

I spent most the day yesterday out doors. It is so pretty here, and not hot. Love it when its like this. Im going to do some more Yard work this afternoon. Cant stay inside when it is so nice out. Even to do yardwork. I must be getting sick or something

Just a great day to be alive. Had an exciting and worshipful church today with a great sermon. Got taken out to lunch afterward. Even watched my points--sort of :

Lily: The strawberries are high in acid. I think that is the main reason, and of course we are not supposed to temper the acccid with lots of sugar. The other stuff, I'm told, especially chocolate and peppermint, and pineapple, have some ingredient which acts to relax the sphincter muscle between the esophagus and stomach.

Trudy: But it is not all bad, After a while you can try a 'no no' and see if it affects you. I can eat grapefruit only once a week. And here we are in citrus country. And oranges have to be really low acid for me. I can handle California Navels the best. I do endulge in a chocolate now and then and don't seem to havae any ill effects. But I have been dealing with this for 9-10 years, so know pretty well now what I can and cannot do. You will probably feel more secure after you have the endoscopy and they tell you there is nothing bad there just the hiatal hernia.

Hi Everybody
I am home from the lake and had a great time. A while back Trudy had a audio book called "Intensity" by Dean Koontz.....and although I was sure I read every book he put out, when she described the story line I couldn't remember it all. When I went shopping last week I bought the book and read it this weekend. If I read it in the past I certainly did not remember it. There where parts in the book that I kind of guessed what was going to happen, but I think i really just GUESSED. My friend, that I spent the weekend with is sure we both read the book about 3 or 4 years ago and that she has the hard cover of it in Maui. We always sign the inside of the books we read with a little note as to whether we liked it or not. She is now going to read the copy I just finished but we are both hoping that the copy in Maui does NOT have our initials in it with a note as to whether we liked it or not. LOL LOL OY VEY Now about the "Left Behind" series books. I still didn't start the first book and my friend is now on the last one....and says she is going to be reading it really slowly since the 9th (is it the 9th) one is not out yet.
The two of us watched a couple of old "Star Trek" movies at night LOL, (very educational), drank wine and ate red licorice. We spent some real quality time telling each other how good we were looking and how thankful we were for our good health. Of course neither one of us could get up too quickly out of a lawn chair, me with my back and her with HER sore back and hips.
We are both doing well for a couple of "dollies".
DH got the fence all painted and it's looking good. He babysat for the "grands" last night and watched football on TV. So....everybody had a good weekend.
Ann I am glad you are enjoying your new computer....and you are right it is very fustrating at times. Lily glad you are enjoying getting out into your yard and that it is not too hot out there. We had really hot weather the last couple of days but that's ok, because I don't think we will for much longer.

I had a great weekend, 2 friends of my son came to stay and they just loved being here. It was good fun and I drove them back to the airport this morning.

Terry Lane is a radio announcer here on the government radio station Australian Broadcasting Commission or ABC. I enjoy listening to the station as it is very informative and good fun as well.

I just got a call from dh on my mobile phone, he is on his way home, I better go and 'slave' over a hot stove.

Slavika I never thought of putting red wine with red licorice. Red licorice is a favorite treat of mine. I can't always remember if I read something or not. I get frustrated when I get into it and realize that I already read it. Feel like I wasted time. Can you believe it is "football season" already? I am wondering where the summer went. I love fall but do not like winter.
Lily how did the yard work go? That is a never ending job. Go ahead and post the pictures. I will be spending the day downstairs painting their legs and assembling them. I do not feel like doing this yet. I don't feel inspired so far this year. I just hope the weather is nice that day since it is an outside show and we do not have a tent.

Well, darnit! I have a bad stinking old summer cold and feel pretty miserable! But I had a great weekend. On Saturday I walked 3 1/2 miles early (just got up and went) and afterwards got a note that my DIL and grandson were at our park from 10-12. I went looking scarey and stinking. She had come to town with a friend whose husband was coaching a softball team. I played with my baby and then actually went with them to Eskimo Joe's (have you all seen the shirt from there?) to eat. I can't believe I did that, but even called my DH and he joined us. As we were leaving my other son called and said he was 15 minutes away and wanted to meet at Eskimo Joe's so we just waited on them and just drank a coke with them. All this, and I looked like crap! Finally went home and showered! I am so glad I did that, though, because otherwise I would have missed out on them.

Ann - just to let you know. My friends' grandson's custody will be decided by a judge by Sept. 17th. Keeping fingers crossed and prayers in mind.

Lily - hope you do get the scanner for Peggy's snowmen. Then we will know why she has been held prisoner in her basement.

Glenda sorry you have a cold. Getting them in the summer is just miserable . Glad you had a nice weekend though. Peggy I feel like I wasted time too if I get into a book and then the "light dawns" and I remember I read it before. There are so many books out there to read, that I sure don't want to spend time reading the SAME book twice, unless it's something I really wanted to do.
I had the Princess here for awhile today. Her Mom had to pick up some goodies for the birthday girl and didn't want her to see them. She told me today that she is more then 5 1/2yrs old because her birthday is on Thursday..........not really 6 yrs old yet, but almost. I laughed as I thought, MY friends don't say, they are 56 1/2 yrs. old. I wonder at what age we quit wishing to be "older". I made some individual Butter Tart Cheesecakes today for tea time tomorrow and they STUCK to the the paper muffin cups. The recipe reads, "press into 12 muffin tins lined with paper liner". Well I did that!!!! DH had a couple at dinner this evening and he said they tasted good, you just can't get all the graham cracker crust out of the paper. BROTHER!
I have to go WW tomorrow and face the music...... ok, not music exactly, the scale, . I was already over goal before my birthday and since then I am up another 3 lbs I think, so I better do something about getting these lbs off. Have a nice evening everyone, talk to you tomorrow.
