Heather – The new wardrobe thing is one of the big reasons I am trying to hold onto my current job while I am losing weight because when I go to a public accounting firm I am going to need suits. Right now work is casual. Congrats to your hubby on losing those 50 pounds!
Valerie – Yeah, it is me with the BF money troubles. So far I have been adamant about not combining finances, but of course you can’t help but do so a little. We actually first moved in together because he lost his job. We were each paying the same amount for separate apartments and so I moved in and took over the rent until he got a job (which took 7 months). In a way, it wasn’t any extra for me because it was the same as I had been paying, but in some ways it set up a precedent. Now, even though we still have separate expenses there are certain choices we have made to cater to his stuff. Mainly this is that we had to get a bigger apartment to house all his computers and our electric bill is probably 3x that of normal people. So although not directly his expenses, I do end up paying more because we are together.
I think the big difference between him and me is that I went through a period of being BROKE. I know what it is like to wonder how you are going to feed yourself. In fact, that is when I decided to go back to school. I had what I call my Scarlet O’Hara moment – “As God as my witness, I shall never be this poor again!” It has been a long road, and I am not going to throw away what I have worked for because he can’t define the difference between need and want. In some ways I curse myself for having rescued him when he lost his job – if he had been forced to go through that – having to make the HARD choices (do I put this $10 in my gas tank to get to job interviews or do I buy groceries for the next week), maybe he wouldn’t have this problem now. Well, if I figure it all out I will definitely let you know.
Dogpal – That is so cool that you went around the Curves circuit twice! I find that the more I exercise the easier it gets and the more energy I have (as long as I get enough sleep!) I have also found that being positive works so much better than being negative. That rule of “if you don’t have something nice to say, don’t say anything at all” applies to ourselves too!
Sharon – I am glad that Aiden is ok, but that must have been SO frightening.
Crock/Ammi - I actually though Elliott did really well. It is such a shame he doesn't have the charisma of the others, but I think his voice is the best of the bunch.
Well I am off to another doctor this afternoon. I am really hoping this will be my last consultation, but we shall see. We are going over my MRI results to see if I qualify for a procedure that would cut off the blood flow to the fibroid and make it shrink (uterine artery embolization). This doctor has his own website, and I thought I would share just in case any of you are interested in what I am talking about

But first I am having lunch with an old co-worker whom I have been helping to hire a bookkeeping position at her current company. It is really hard for people who know nothing about accounting to hire accountants. Tip: if you ever decide to start your own business, go take an accounting course first. You might not do the accounting, but you need to understand what the people you hire are actually doing. If you don’t, it can be BIG trouble.
We are heading to a great Indian place that has a buffet, so I know I will end up eating too many calories today. That’s ok though – I have actually had several days under recently.
