  • Happy Friday everyone

I've gotten a lot accomplished today at work and I'm pumped up! Anyway, the weather is still a little warm here; the cold front that was supposed to move through last evening along with the thunderstorms never materialized. I'm hoping it'll cool off tonight and tomorrow will be a "normal" summer day.

Eating-wise the heat has curtailed my hunger so I guess that's a bonus with the heat & humidity. It's not something that I could get accustomed to though! The up-side of the weather cooling off is that I'll be able to tackle the monster weeds growing in my sidewalk & driveway.

No big plans for the weekend--so hopefully I'll be able to get a lot done around the house.

Kt marie Hope you had fun at the waterpark!

Have a great weekend everyone and stay cool
  • Hello all,

I've been very busy at work training someone, so no time to goof off and write much.

Melissa it just started raining here in NJ, so maybe you'll be getting some of the storms (the cooling storms, I hope) soon. By the way, I remember you mentioned that you were considering adding some jogging to your exercise routine, just when I was too. I wanted to let you know I've done it - twice. Last weekend, before the heat wave, hubby & I were taking a long walk and we each decided to incorporate a little jogging. Then at the gym, I started to trot on the treadmill. I actually like it. Mostly I've been doing exercise classes for my daily dose of activity, but I think when I am on the t'mill or on a walk, I'll continue to add the jog. It feels good.

lala Eddie is just the same way. It is sweltering up in the house and lovely and cool in the basement and I find him passed out in the living room instead of down in the cool. Go figure. Meanwhile, he does go down to the basement for naps but never on those hot days. We must keep telling ourselves, they are animals not humans. Well, i certainly treat Edward better than any human in my life... P.S. j'adore Paris. We were there for 3 short days and I loved it. I thought I would hate it, not speaking French (only got to video number 8 of French in Action - terrific language immersion series by the way) and was afraid of all those snooty French people. Turned out if we stuttered out a few halting "je voudrais"s, everyone was as kind and helpful as could be. Besides, Paris is just so beautiful. And the food --- so so good.

kt I have to say i'm disappointed about the lake cottage too. Since I was living vicariously through you... BTW, I'm back to the 1 a.m. wake up call of insomnia. It is so obviously a cyclic thing that it must be hormones, the heralding of menopause I'm sure. Blah.

hello everyone else. I'm so behind, I don't think I can catch up.

Have a great and cool weekend,

    Laurel
  • Hi yawl.

Its hot (really, around 86 degrees), but very little humidity, still those dumb animals are in the sun baking, bless their hearts.

melissa: yup, this warmer weather sure is taking a toll on my eating, its too hot to cook and I'm not big on fast food. Let's hope it helps.
I did a bit of weeding yesterday, but mostly watering. The wisteria is taking over one side of our greenhouse and its time to whack it back, now that is satisfying.

ktbummer about the cottage, it sounded like you were looking forward to it. I hope you have a nice relaxing weekend anyways.

Laurel: Roya, the cat,was often found in the unheated basement bedroom in the winter curled up on the down comforter, well, until we bought her a orthopedic, heated cat bed. (I hope eddie isn't reading this over your shoulder) Now, in the winter she basically doesn't leave it unless its food time or nature calls. I guess she can't put on another sweater like we can.

so, nothing planned out of the ordinary for us this weekend, farmer's market, gym, library, wally's for ice cream , gardening, chores and hopefully cleaning out the refrigerator (it growled). I have had a pretty okeydokey week and I weigh in on monday morning, so no indulgences here.

I'm not sure about paris, its my favorite city after Rome, but we have been there two times this year already. Then again, three days somewhere you like beats spending three days in a new city where it takes that long to find a decent cafe. We'll see, we both need miles for our airlines and I really want a coffee napolean. yuppers.

soo, hopefully we will all have fabooo weekends.

    lala
