  • Good morning ladies-

LaDean, I am glad you had a good week and are getting to your goal. Only wish I were so close!

I was pleased with my week too. Down two pounds. I plan on making this week really good as well. Last week I was pretty much consumed with getting my house ready for a baby shower I hosted on Sat. It was a great success I believe. I was a little nervous about it but all turned out well. It was a brunch type shower and I did lose it a little diet wise, but was able to pull it back together yesterday despite some cravings. I sent all the leftovers home with my mother yesterday. I hope my house stays clean for two seconds because it was really sparkly clean on Sat. I gaurantee that is a rare occasion, but I felt very proud of it for the shower.

DD and I have been mercilessly shoveling out the things we don't use. Still the upstairs and basement need more of the same treatment. Rome wasn't built in a day though, hey?

Now turning my focus to getting ready for vacation, we leave next Tuesday. In my mind I'd like to lose 3 lbs. by then. Maybe I can. Due to last minute chores this past week my exercise wasn't where it needed to be so I plan on getting in a long daily workout this week.
  • Ledom. good for you. so happy you had a good loss that is great. yes it feels good to get things in order on my plan. i have like 3 goals i have to work down to so i do not lose my KOPS. so i am going slow for them. have to make a dr. appt to for yearly. anxious to see how that part of life is going. ha sounds like a fun vacation you have planned. have fun for sure. know you will get the 3 lbs off also. i got into my closet and cleaned out. can get to things now. it helps if we do it every once in awhile. i have to wait till getting ready for something to and do it. well hey have a great day

  • Good Morning- How are you all - and are any of you still checking in?

Sorry to have been MIA so long. DD and I have been on one long and bumpy ride! She has been really sick - major depression is debilitating and mysterious and horrendous. Just ask us. We have over the course of the last few months become much more educated on the subject. Still riding the wave and it is hard to predict anything but I like to think we have reached a turning point in the downward spiral.

I hate to say that it has all taken a toll on my own self-care. Stress and anxiety is never supportive of diet and exercise though that is probably when you need them most. Anyway it is never far from my thoughts and I really hope to put D & E in the forefront again.

Wanted to give a heads up on a magazine I discovered this week. Not that it is new, but I finally bought one and now I wish I had all the back copies. It is called EatingWell, as in eating to be well, and it has easy healthy recipes as well as the nutritional information for each recipe and articles on nutrition. I bought mine at a healthfood store but I think I have seen it around at newstands and maybe even the grocery store. Really the most information packed magazine I have picked up in a long time and I am a magazine junkie.

I am going back to the basic BFL workout this week. It is a standard that I can always return to in order to set things right.

Hope you all are enjoying your summer. In less than 2 weeks I am going to make a major trip to NW Montana - getting up in your neighborhood judi and LaDean - I am so looking forward to seeing a new part of the country.
  • Hi,

ledom, I am so sorry to hear about your DD. I can only imagine what you both have been going through. Glad that things appear to be looking up for you both. Your trip sounds really neat. I've always wanted to see that part of the country. You'll have a wonderful time, I'm sure. Thanks for the tip on the magazine. I'll look for it the next time I go grocery shopping. I've become motivated again to start counting points. I won't attend meetings, because I just didn't care for the meetings here. DH & I are planning on heading north in Sept., if he can get his 2 week vacation at the same time, and I would like to lose a little of this weight before we go, even if it'll only be 5 lb.
Hope things continue to go well for you.
  • Morning Alice. I hope you get to take your trip as planned. September will be a great month to travel. And 5 lbs. off can feel great as well. I know what you mean. I have a couple of good workouts under my belt and already I feel better. So good to actually feel my muscles, the soreness is welcome. My mantra lately is "looser jeans, looser jeans." Counting points for you sounds like BFL for me - a routine that, while not necessarily easy, is one that is reliable and familiar and gets results.

Yes I am so excited about my trip. I will be taking a couple of workshops while there and I plan to be gone for 3 weeks. I can't tell you how I look forward to getting away and learning something new. DD will stay w/ my Mom while I am gone. Hopefully they will take care of each other. I'll worry about them, but I am going.
  • Mornin' Ledom,

Glad that you're back doing your workouts. I have started my Leslie Sansone walking tapes again. It's just too darn hot and muggy for me to walk outside. It's funny how one goes back on a WOE that is familiar to them. I find WW easy to do, as I'm sure you find BFL. I would like to go back to Somersizing, my original diet when I joined 3fc, but I can't get back into the swing of things with that. Speaking of diets, I found the Prevention Millennium Diet the other day. Have you ever thought of doing that again?

You should go on your trip. I know you'll worry about your mother and DD, but you also have to think of yourself. You will have such a wonderful time learning something new and being someplace new.

  • Yes, I do think about PMD sometimes Alice. I really liked that WOE. It got me on the track of 6 small meals a day and it worked for me. Now that you mention it I might think more along those lines. The main difference between BFL is that it didn't emphasize meat so much. Limiting meals to 250 calories would be the part that would benefit me most.

I always enjoy fall as my favorite season. Last weekend we had a cool front blow through and a friend and I went out in the kayaks. The smells were definitely fall like, this really pungent earthy smell. We also saw Osprey who migrate here in the fall, I had never seen one this early. Of course I know that we are in the deepest part of summer but I like to see those little signs that it is coming up next. Too bad we are back to hot and humid this week!

Exercise on course still. Diet pretty good - my hardest time is late at night. Seems I need to eat a little something in order to fall asleep and it is hard to break that habit.
  • Good morning ledom,

Your kayaking trip sounds really nice. It's funny you should mention a pungent earthy smell. I've noticed that here in the very early morning. So much so that my nose fills up and I can hardly breathe, I used to know the subtle signs of summer winding down when we lived in NH. The crickets would sing well into the day, the shadows would get longer, there was that earthy smell you mentioned, the swamp maples would start to turn red, and not to mention a stray red or yellow leaf on the ground. Oh, how I miss that. I'm going to have to learn new signs all over again. Although, fall here in FL feels just like summer. I have noticed the sun being lower in the sky and it gets dark a little earlier than it used to. Fall is my favorite season too. I am hoping that we'll be able to head to MA & NH in Sept.

Diet is going just ok. I am finding that I am hungry all the time. The first week went fine, but for some reason this week I get hungry shortly after I've eaten. I'm afraid to eat because I don't want to rack up points. But, sometimes I get so hungry I have to find something to eat, it's usually a few Almonds.

The PMD does sound interesting. I had forgotten about the 6 small meals. I have trouble with that concept because it's so foreign to me, I guess.

Hope your day will be a good one.
