Cocoa is 19lbs. and Chewy is 8lbs. I thought I was going to have a heart attack when the vet told us 19lbs.!!! Actually she's lost some weight so she may weigh in at 17lbs.

Thanks so much for all your replies, I am quite overwhelmed! Anyway, you all had really great advice and I am really going to try and just relax and be there for my wife when she needs me. As for getting her onto these boards, I dare not ask! And just to let you all know, we got a treadmill delivered today and we are both going to be using it daily! Once again thanks for all the support, you people are wonderful!

I think that's great that you got a treadmill!! I'm wanting one myself but need to save up for one.

Too bad you can't ask your wife to join us, but I can understand. Just keep coming back to keep us updated on how everything is going. This is great support group for you too!!

Marti--19 pounds! I don't think I have ever seen that kind of dog weigh that much, oh well, they are all beautiful jus the same. Precious Mary weighs in at 13 pounds, she is very lean and graceful, but has muscular legs, but long and thin, like I wish mine were! Anyway have a blessed weekend.

Disaster! The owner of our apartment lives downstairs and just came by to complain about the noise from the treadmill...

You have got to be kidding!!! The only thing I can suggest is to see if you can come to an agreement as to what would be the best time for you to use the treadmill that wll not drive him crazy. Other than that I don't know what to tell you, have never lived in an apartment so don't know what is acceptable or not. Maybe some of these other wonderful people can offer suggestions.

Marti-do your dogs dream and whine in their sleep? I just had to wake mine up because her feet are moving, she is breathing fast and then starts whinning in her sleep, then she growls in her sleep, my husband and I think it's so funny!

Guy hang in there. Some kind of solution will present itself.

Well, we'll see if a compromise can be found. I wonder if Sears will take it back? I had to destroy the packaging to set up the damn thing! Aaargh! I am so annoyed! The thing is that she is right, it makes so much noise... not like other treadmills I've used.

Guy--Tell her that it's for health reason and to not complain! Hey.....offfer to let her use it too!! Ok ok...that may not be a choice...but that really does put a damper on it. Give Sears a call and see what they say...or better yet...ship it to Oregon here and I'll put it to use! Hope something works out for you. Nothing like trying to get in shape and in a healthy lifestyle and someone cramps your style. Let us know what happens.

see if they'll exhange it for another one of their items. Hubby & I got a really great exercise bike for under 200.00 there, and it's very quiet. Has all the bells & whistles.

Geez it isn't like you are playing AC/DC at top volume?? Or maybe your neighbour would like that?!? Frankly I think that kind of noise could be tolerated during regular hours for short periods of time. I'm sure you aren't planning on using it at 3am for 5 or 6 hours are you? Maybe the 2 of your could compromise on when would be the best time of the day for you to use your treadmill so that it won't bother her.

Guy - Do you have the treadmill on a hard surface? I bought a shock absorbing pad for mine when I lived in an apartment with spanish tile floors. It cut down on the noise quite a bit. I don't know if they will take it back at Sears or not, but if they would, maybe you could look into an elliptical trainer, I would think that is quieter.

I think you are right, the should stay. The landlord needs to be reasonable. It's not a subversive activity ... the suggestion to ask her if she'd like to use it is a good one. Maybe it'd be a kind of support for your wife if she could have someone in to exercise with. The landlord could for 20 minutes or so while your wife lifts light weights, then they could trade off.
