  • I'm new here, but have been trying to lose for over a month after the doc said to get my chloresterol down. I went to a nutritionist as I have some health problems including a very sluggish thyroid. She put me on a "traditional" diet with 9 carbs, 6 protein, 5 fats, and unlimited veggies a day, about 1300 -1400 calories. So far I've lost about 4 pounds. Weight loss seems very slow to me, but I've not been able to exercise much as my back is acting up after doing the treadmill. Anyway I think I will put my daily food here. Maybe I'll get some tips and inspiration. It's hard for me as DH is constantly eating everything he can get his hands on even though he is extremely overweight so he's no support at all.
    See you on Monday!
    Maggie
  • Hi Maggie - so nice to meet you! and I'm so glad to hear that you will be joining us on the food log. I really think it helps to log down everything I eat. Keeps me honest - ya know?

I also have a SLUGGISH thyroid, which seems to makes weightloss really hard, but I think that a 4 lb loss in a month is great! you must be doing something right!

    see ya tomorrow!

  • Hey Donna!

I didn't put my calories today or yesterday cause I just didn't have time to keep up with it really, but I usually try to keep my calories around 1200 to 1400. I have a low thyroid and have always been a little overweight, I have always always always struggled with my weight, but I am now at an all time high (and pretty miserable about it honestly) - so I only wish I could say that I was losing weight at 1200 to 1400 calories a day, but I'm not. It is so discouraging. But I have really always been like this - it's just worse then it's every been (may have something to do with being over 40, etc) I have been reading that some people with a thyroid problem have to eat around 1000 calories a day to lose any weight, but I don't know how in the world I could do that.

Do you know about how many calories you are eating a day? your food list doesn't look all that different to me.

Also I'm kind of sparatic about things - really didn't eat all that much this weekend - but last weekend I ate like a pig and really messed myself (and my scale) up.

I'll see ya in here tomorrow girlie. Maybe we will both start to see some weightloss - now wouldn't that be REALLY NICE!!!!

    hugs,
    cathy
