I have had a wonderful OP day. I did more calories than usual, but don't think that will matter since the ratio of carbs, protein and fat were perfect and the net carbs were less than 40 grams and it was within 8 hr eating window. I have to say that I am proud of myself. Now I just need to turn this into a lifestyle.

Good morning. Nothing new here. Sleep was good. Not much to say since I no longer weigh daily. I feel fat and won't weigh when I feel fat. I'm doing ok with eating. Not great. Not eating bread, pasta or potatoes. Carbs come from other things. So I've improved my eating but not perfect by a long shot. I don't know if I will ever get there. I feel overshelmed.

I'm happy that its the first day of spring. Maybe my mood will improve.

NSV today. DH made pancakes this morning and left a few on a plate sitting on the counter. Did they look appealing? Why yes, they did. Did I eat them? No I didnt! I didn't throw them away or comment. I just ignored them. I am so proud of my ability to do that. This is what I have to learn and the more I do this the easier it will be. A new habit. Eventually he asked if I wanted them and I said no. He said he was going to throw them out and I said ok. Used to be I would shudder at the thought of throwing them away. I sometimes would freeze them. I am on my way to NOT being a compulsive over eater.

Carol Sue, Congratulations on a victory day of not eating the pancakes. I love it when I have those victories. They seem like small ones but for me they have a greater impact on me sometimes better than the big ones. I believe that is because they become a foundation for more of them. It will get easier and DH will eventually get on the ban wagon with you so to speak.

I thought about not weighing today only because I think I might do better if I only weigh once a week. I've done this daily for so long. When I lost all that weight when I first married DH, I didn't weigh all the time. In fact, I don't think I even weighed every day or week. I didn't get back into that until I get back on an online diet group. I was doing low carb mostly my way and I remember saying something about eating yogurt for breakfast and they told me yogurt was not low carb. Should have quit the group and kept doing what I was doing. That was when I got down to 169 lbs and size 14 clothes.

Anyway, having said all that, weight is about the same as yesterday. It fluctuates from day to day with tenths of a lb so just water fluctuating. I know when doing low carb that my clothes or measuring tape is a better friend to me than the scale so I really should stop weighing so much. I will think about that.

We are having beautiful days here, but 90% chance of rain tomorrow. Weather is still cool to me but hopefully low carbing will help with that as well.

I am thawing out the leftover rotisserie chicken we had Tuesday. I want to use it before it goes bad and since trash is picked up tomorrow I will be able to put the bones in the trash. I got my book yesterday and want to read some out of it today. I need to read before DH gets up. It is so weird to me that when I decide to read something or listen to something online once DH gets up, that is when he wants to talk to me or wants me to listen to something he saw on YouTube after I went to bed. I learned from a woman's Bible class I took years ago that it must be a "man/hubby" thing because there wasn't one woman in the bunch whose husband didn't do the thing to them.

Carol great job on not eating the pancakes and being ok with tossing them. I was brought up not to waste anything, my dad grew up during the depression and my mother grew up in London, very poor. When she would put away leftovers she would sometimes force one of us to finish it because it 'wasn't enough to save , but too much to throw away" I would find myself eating things just so they didn't go to waste, but how much health and money did I waste trying to get the extra pounds off. I had a friend who when faced with a temptaion would toss it in the trash, then spray it with Windex so she couldn't change her mind. It might be a small waste to put it in the trash but a bigger waste for it to go to YOUR waist.

Trish, I still weigh daily, I am used to the bobbingup an down 2-4 lbs, I just record it and move on. If I miss a day on the bike, I might miss 10 days, same with the scale, I have to do it for me.

Sun is out a bit here, I got some yardwork done, hoping it doesn't rain any more today. A bit chilly but I am going to go out to the garage and do some organizing.

I WANT to weigh daily, but right now I'm working on my eating disorder not my weight. I feel that I'm improving, becoming stronger in my resolve. I don't want fluctuations on the scale to distract me from the progress I'm making. I am still tracking on MFP and cals and carbs are relatively in line. I'm just not obsessing over it right now. I have probably been a daily weigher since age 21, my first diet. 55 years!!

I hate to leave food sometimes. If I make chili, I like it so much I want to keep eating it and I don't know when I'm going to have it again since DH could do without it. I can't make less. One can of tomatoes, one can of beans. I could save some for tomorrow but tomorrow there will be more food. When I worked and ate lunch I took it for lunch. If I lived alone I could do it.

When I was growing up I don't remember there ever being food leftover. I remember my mom didn't always sit down to eat with us. I think maybe whatever we left was her dinner. I don't remember being hungry and no one was fat.

HI all. No reports, as I ate on Friday and Saturday and am eating today. Today is low carb, because trying to fast after a higher carb day seems doomed to failure and who needs to feel like a failure?
So my goal today is to have some ketones in my urine sometime. (i guess I have to test it, so will start doing that after this post. )
No weight until Tuesday if I fast tomorrow. Pretty tired and achey after DD birthday party last evening. We had southern bbq, and it was good, everything but the cornbread was gluten free, so I was good. (And it seems it was true, no tummy symptoms today)
Speaking of the tummy, my physician told me that it would take a while for the gabapentin to work, but it seems to be working and my gut pain is much better.

Carol: I am delighted for you to feel empowered over your food and eating, I don't have that every day, but more often now than a couple of years ago.
Trish: lower carb works for you, but as I recall, you get a keto rash if you go too low, so finding that sweet spot is key. Hope you find it.
Ann: I am thrilled for you to be losing weight some more. Keep it up, you are doing great and will keep improving. I think the spring and sunshine will be good for all of us.

I decided to read the discussions on a FB IF group for women in ages 40, 50 and beyond. I'm glad that I did. The administrator shared the different stages of IF and said that the way you know if your body is moving into fat burning instead of burning carbs is when you get really hangry. I am glad I had read that today because I was really hangry tonight, but having read that was just what I needed to stay OP and not eat anything outside my eating window. I ended up with a 5 hr eating window. Making another good day for me.

Yesterday, I got a lot of yardwork done between the rain drops. I ended up with under 800 calories and 5500 steps.

For breakfast today I just didn't feel like my usual eggs so I decided to make keto pancakes. I am not a big fan of pancakes but I have been looking at the recipe for quite some time. The recipe made 3 servings so I cut it in half. It made 4 inch pancakes. A bit soft so turning over was tricky and I messed up 2 but it was very filling and the caloires were 340, and lots of fiber. I don't think I will make them often but it was just nice to have something different from eggs.

Trish, I remember a WW leader telling us that when you get really hungry your body is asking you to send food so it does not have to burn stored fat. Makes me feel strong resisting that.

Mad, oh BBQ sounds delicious. I thought cornbread was gluten free, maybe it was just a mix I saw. i have a keto cornbread mix but I am afraid to make it because I might eat the whole pan.

I need to get moving and be productive today. I plan to go to the dump-not my favorite task-then pick up lumber for my birdhouses and work bench. I will be out in the shop most of the day. I open the back doors which accesses the dog yard, Otis will hang out with me and go in and out. He doesn't like the sound of power tools and will go outside when I am running the saws.

Ann, I tried making keto pancakes from a recipe I found one time and mine became scramble rather than whole pancakes. Still tasted good but were too egg tasting to me for pancakes.

I'm sleeping good these days which is good. One nice thing today is that I was ready to get up. All formal exercise done for today. I want to try to get those done early in the day so I do them. I read that it revs up the metabolism. Not sure if it does but it sounds good. Weight finally back down to 182.2 so nothing really happening there as it is still in range hoping for lower eventually. The nice thing about eating this way is that my FBG has been in 90s today and yesterday.

For now I will try to keep carbs between 70 and 70 grams because I still have some foods I need to get rid of before I go into a lifestyle of keeping them under 50 grams. I can do this with IF eating window ratio of 19:5 and for now I will just get into the habit of this IF ratio. Then hopefully by April 1st, I can move into a lifestyle of 50 g within 5 hr eating window. For one thing having done it for 2 days, I now know that I can..

Rainy day today. Looks like it is starting here today and moving east so we can still go out shopping at Walmart tomorrow.

Trish, your pancakes sound like mine. All i could taste was ricotta cheese, and 2 fell apart when I tried to flip. I am not a big enough fan to bother and try to fix the recipe. It was nice to have something different. I think French toast with the keto bread might be better.

A beautiful day here, sun is out and in the 50's. Wicked windy so made no sense to try and rake the leaves that pile up against the fence. I did fill 3 more macrame bags with alpaca wool and hung them out. I am having a bit of a tough time remembering to bring in bird feeders at night so the bears don't get into them.

Just went into town and got Otis his bed time cookies, and some treats. Picked up salad fixings, turkey breakfast sausage, bacon, and eggs. I will pan sear sea scallops for dinner tonight, tomorrow will likely be BLTs on the keto bread. I can make soufles on Wednesday, after that I have no clue. Breakfast and lunch are always easy but dinners require a bit more thought, planning, and work.

I fell asleep this afternoon so we didn't eat dinner until 6 PM. That is late for us and I ended up with an 8 hour window. It is usually 6 hours. I cooked steaks that were in the freezer with grilled asparagus and DH had mashed potatoes. The asparagus was too much but you can't get smaller bundles. We don't want it 2 days in a row and any longer and it dries out. So I only buy it once in a while. My freezer is finally starting to empty out.

I don't try making any Keto items like pancakes. If they aren't going to taste like pancakes they will be a disappointment to me. There's a recipe for pancakes made with cream cheese but I never tried them. Now that I know I can do without DHs pancakes I'm fine. There are people on the low carb board who make lots of baked goods, bread, rolls cakes etc. I have 2 waffle makers for chaffles but still haven't made them.

Thish, you are doing great on your plan. Look back to how far you've come. I'll bet you look and feel wonderful!

Ann, you do so much physical work I could never keep up with you.

Wal-Mart has not had our spring water for a couple weeks so we went to Target and got 2 cases. We had a gift card from Christmas so I got 2 bottles of fish oil and DH got a new beard trimmer. I should have bought one more thing because there's $5 left on the gift card. We don't go there often but they are the only ones who have the fish oil I use.

Tomorrow I want to go to the meat store for ground beef and chicken.

Drinking my chamomile tea and going to bed. My day has gone as I planned. I did an 8 hr eating window. Read some more on the FB IF group for women and really would love to just do it the way they do if I knew I could trust myself. Although some do low carb and some don't, they do have the rule much like our old IE type of don't diet, don't count calories etc, just eat what you want till satisfied and stop. For now, I still use MFP to keep up with how I'm doing. However, I would love to eventually be able to settle into my own form of a combo of IE/IF. Will see how it goes.

Carol, I grew up in the country, I always opted to help my dad do yardwork instead of housework with my mom. I had horses I bought from working farm jobs. I have always done a lot of physical work, hauling hay, lugging wood, and water, gardening.etc. I would still rather mow the lawn than vacuum the floors and it shows. I have lived alone since 2009 and I don't have much choice on some of the heavy duty jobs, DBF does a lot when he is here, but I feel it is my job to get things done, My Ex didn't do much of anything so back when I was married, I was the one who shoveled the driveway, raked snow off the roof, brought in wood. I do get frustrated that I can't put in a 12-14 hour day like I did in my 30's but I do what I am able.

Trish, I am sure you will find the right combinations for your food plan that will work for you and will be long term sustainable.

I have made the cloud bread a few times, but now that I can buy keto bread, I don't make it as often. It is too crispy when first out of oven, so it is better the next day, of course it is kind of eggy but makes a really nice burger bun. I bought a box of a low carb baking mix, sort of like Bisquick, but I haven't tried it yet. I have to say I am glad the keto pancakes werent that good, I won't go over board on them for sure. When the kids were home I would make desserts that I didn't particularly care for so I wouldn't get into them, Lemon Bars are the only one I recall.

I do occasionally make myself a low carb, SF dessert. I take a box of SF jello, add the boiling water as directed. Then let it cool a bit and replace the cold water with plain yogurt and whip with a mixer. I like it best with raspberry. Kids liked it with lime jello because it was an ugly greenish color and looked like slime. My mother used to make it per the box, then as it got thick she would whip it and add dry Carnation instant milk. I swear she bought that stuff by the barrel. Back in the 50's it was a 'thing' to make a pitcher of Carnation milk and mix with regular milk to save money. UGH. no wonder I hate milk.
But I do keep it on hand and use for any recipe calling for milk, or cream, I just use more powder .

Plan for the day: going back to town and order lumber, hope I can get delivery this week. I need a few things at the hardware store, I like the cooler weather so Otis can go everywhere with me. He is happy to sleep on his bed in the back seat while I shop. I am going to pull a few more boards off the old barn and get to work in the shop. I bought hardware to make sconces so I have to figure out the dimensions and try to get a set together.

I forced myself to get on the scale today. 187, so I am automatically eating to maintain my weight. That makes me happy, even though I want to lose. I'm glad that I don't gain when I don't weigh daily. Sometimes like now I think I am just kidding myself and will never lose. I've been at this same weight for several years. I still track. I eat around 1200 calories and 70 GM of carb, give or take. I am never hungry but haven't eaten til stuffed for quite a while. I don't always observe my eating window but its naturally around 6 hours. All this is becoming my lifestyle. At some point I have to make changes to show a loss but I'm not sure what. I just realized I've had no sweets since Ash Wednesday. They never enter my mind. Occasionally DH offers me candy. "Hey little girl, ya want a candy bar?"

Ann, today I think Dry powdered milk is more expensive than milk. When I was growing up we got government surplus food which included powdered milk. It made me want to gag. My brother loved milk but would not drink it. Its a shame but by using that we were not getting milk as kids. The dry milk tastes pretty good now.

I was NEVER a physical person. As a kid I didnt have a bike. I walked everywhere but that's it. In my 20s I started formal exercise. Always belonged to the Y or a gym, aerobics classes. That really slowed down after marriage. Never any indoor or outdoor physical work.

Trish, that sounds like a good group to give incentive. I am really improving on my overeating and may reach a point that I can stop when satisfied. Not there 100% yet. I'm amazed that I've made this much headway. I don't know how you find these groups. I never find anything like that. I seem to join a group then find out that they are not what I expected. And I prefer to read and not join in. As far as eating what I want, I still have to be careful. Some things I will eat then afterwards I'm sorry I ate it. I am trying to find a short list of things to eat and stick to them. When I venture outside my list is when I get in trouble.

a lot of plans changed today, I went into town and got the lumber and loaded into my truck, also picked up the hardware I needed. I came home and I had not had breakfast so at 11 am I decided I would have a nice large brunch, then I would get moving. I have 2 wood working projects, one is to make a rolling table for my table router, and I have enough lumber to make at least 4 birdhouses. I will cut out the birdhouses and then pull the barnboards off. I am really looking forward to playing in the shop. Windy and only in the 40's but I open the door on the south side and get some sun in there. I will make cheese souffle for dinner tonight
