  • I wasn't able to get on for most of the day. How is everyone? I didn't post yesterday because I was in a really foul mood because I was email-fighting with the other bridesmaids for a wedding I'm in this fall. They want to spend way much more on the shower than I think we should ... as in $400 a person. Does that strike anyone as a lot of money? When I said I really couldn't do that, I was accused of not taking my friendship with the bride seriously, not to mention being cheap. I THINK we've worked things out but man! I have such different ideas for weddings. I'm not much for the traditional stuff and it kept getting thrown in my face.

But I feel better today. And I WI tonight and I think I've lost some. I went to the gym at lunch to ensure it, too! I only went over points Saturday this week.

OK, my answer to Jayne's very cool question. Five foods: French fries, lobster, corn on the cob, chocolate and pizza. Drinks: Milk, Crystal Light raspberry tea and Our Dog Blue wine from Chateau Morrisette in Virginia. Can I get one condiment? I'd have to have butter for the corn and lobster.

Laura: I'm glad you liked the tequila lime chicken, because I haven't even tried it yet! I just plucked the recipe off from somewhere because someone said it was good. Now I'll definitely try it.

I didn't read yesterdays posts yet, but I saw a mention of a change jar paying for vacations. DH had collected change for a long time without dipping into it, and we rolled almost $1,000 worth to help pay for our honeymoon. Isn't that cool?
  • OK, I read yesterday's posts and I have to add my two cents about overrated celebrities. Woody Allen (I've fallen asleep in his movies) and Kate Hudson. For some reason, Kate really bugs me. I don't think she's been awful in her movies at all, she just bugs me.

I agree Ben Affleck is blah but I love George Clooney! Brad Pitt IS a pretty boy but he's actually a pretty good actor. Oh, and I don't like Kevin Costner!
  • OMIGOD! Kim - That is a RIDICULOUS amount to spend on a shower unless you're all flying to Vegas or something. I spent about $1000 between my sister and best friend's weddings but that included 4 showers, 2 stags and both dresses and wedding presents. And we were talking about my sister so that was a lot of money. I hope it has worked out.

Not enough time to respond to everyone - sorry guys but hi to everyone anyway. I couldn't get onto the site until now.

My 5 foods (although it would be next to impossible for me to do) - peaches, lasagne, bread (with butter), chocolate and chicken cesar salad
My beverages - tea, wine and diet dr pepper.
    That was really hard

  • I've got them down to about $200 for the shower ... still a lot, but it is one of my best friends. Sigh. I never knew being in her wedding would be so expensive. I haven't mentioned the $120 a person bachelorette party yet! I KNOW she didn't spend that much to be in my wedding because I wouldn't have let any of my bridesmaids spend that much on me!
  • well i wasn't *too* bad yesterday. i didn't do my WATP tapes because our vet appt lasted much longer than expected...just the waiting part. http://www.emotipad.com/emoticons/Eek.gif we took our new dog sadie in for her first shots and check up. then we had to run by blockbuster and get dinner and run clothes to my moms house since Hope (my 5 yr old) was staying the night. so by the time we got home and ate dinner i was too into law & order, and my jammies, to worry about walking. i did however get the better choice of chicken & veggies versus general tsaos chicken (read deep fried sugary chicken) at the chinese place). so that's a +. today i have done a great job staying OP so i have to keep it that way. http://www.emotipad.com/emoticons/Nodding.gif

  • Happy late Birthday Tonya have fun with DH tonight.
I can not belive that they want to spend that much. You will be broke unless you are going to win the lottery. Why do they have such expensive taste?
I had my first weigh in today and I lost 5.6 pounds. I was amazed being as I started TOM yesterday. Tonorrow I am off to Seattle with DH and DD and DS to tear down a fence. I think tht should burn a few calories don't you?
There are to many post to reply to but for all that are staying OP. to all that know they need to get back OP. A great big to all the ladies here for just remembering to post.

  • Well no time to really read all the posts. I just skimmed & I thought I should answer Laura's question about Denver sandwiches. Denvers are easy. You take some eggs & beat them, add either a little skim milk or some water, then add chopped veggies (bell peppers, onions, garlic, mushrooms, or whatever you fell like), some spices (basil, oregano, or whatever you fell like), some healthier meat like turkey bacon or lean ham & cook it like an omelette. Meanwhile toast some bread. When the egg is cooked through sprinkle some lowfat cheddar or other cheese on top & let it melt. Put the some of egg stuff in the bread & eat it. I like mine with ketchup, my DH likes his with just low cal butter. My Dad eats his with ranch dressing. We make ours with Omega 3 eggs which are only 2 points per egg & high fiber bread so the whole meal is really low & very filling. Anyway that's a denver sandwich. I hope I explained it clear enough. Hopefully I'll talk to you all properly tomorrow.
