Well I am still prepping for my first walking 5K next Friday night... less than a week away.. I just want to finish... I am like the little engine that could...... slow and steady wins the race for me... the race is for my health... I know I can do it...
  • Wow...this is a great thread...so inspiring. I'm new to this site and new in this journey and was looking for threads i might like to join. I think this is a keeper. Don't have anything to share (yet) just wanted to say Congratulations ladies on all these small victories that add up to big ones.
I'll be watching y'all for inspiration and I cannot wait to come back with an NSV of my own.
    Good Luck
  • hopesfull - Soon you will have many NSVs and we want to hear all about them... You will get through this!!!
  • Great job Wheezypi, it looks like your shape has completely changed. Fun dress!!

PJ, good luck with your 5K!

And btw - I love me some Hyacinth Bucket...

hyacinth is right wheezypi...your shape has changed. A changing shape is better to me than the number on the scale cause you can see that change and feel it. So congratulations.

Thanks for the encouragement former miss lazy. I hope to be a former miss lazy too.
  • Welcome hopesfull!

Pam, where are you? Are you out running? You go girl!!!

My NSV was yesterday at church I went to go into the pew and I forgot to turn sideways to do the side shuffle to get to the end. I could walk straight forward like a normal person!!! It is amazing all these NSV's that I never thought about until I got to them or others point them out.

Hey there Ubee, I have been MIA for a few days, I know. This has been a super busy week for me and it is just half way over. I am about to get there. LOL. Next week won't be so bad. Yay!

I have been staying OP and walking every day to get ready for tomorrow night. It has been so hot I just pour sweat. I am pretty miserable at the end of it. Those are the times when I want to give up. I am trying really hard to make sure I get in that extra water.

You go girl. I am so proud of you. Those accidental NSVs are the best aren't they? I put on my walking shorts yesterday and thought they were going to fall off of me. I wore them anyway because they are like my badge of honor. LOL.
  • Have fun today Pam! We are proud of you and will be cheering for you!

    Thank you so much!

Well I survived my 5K. I knew I could do it. I was pretty much dead last. However, I stayed a steady pace and what was pretty cool was when I came around the corner to the finish line everyone started cheering. It was embarassing and empowering all at the same time. I am not a high profile kind of person. It is nice to know people are there to cheer you on. Of course a lot of the ones who run it are serious and had times for the whole course of less than 20 minutes. I did it in 66 minutes. As I said before, I am doing this for my health not to win a race. Maybe later I will become more of a competitor when I get a few more lbs off of me.

Thanks for thinking of me! This was definitely an NSV for me.
  • WTG Pam! What a great accomplishment!
You've come so far in such a short time. I am so happy for you!

Pam, this is awesome. Very touching.

Here is my NSV: When someone says "I thought of you the other day," a million things go through my head: they saw someone I know, they went to a good restaurant, they watched a movie pertinent to my interests. A coworker told me thought of me the other day. She is dog-sitting and took the dog on long walks (like I do) and she said she thought of me talking about how often I do it and how much more my exercise routine enhanced after getting a large dog. Someone thinking of me as an exerciser when exercising is a first! In the past it would've been, "I found the best pizza!"
  • That must have made you feel great Hyacinth! It shows we really do have to change our ways to do this and not just diet to goal. Great job setting a positive example!

I love this Hyacinth!... I want for people to think of me in this way also. I have so many friends and family who will come up to me and say 'I am so proud of you!' After my little walk in the rain a week or so ago I had more than one come up and say 'you are doing so good' or 'you look so good!' or 'keep it up girl, I can tell a difference.' Those are the kinds of comments that make me feel good. However, I heard one of my neighbors had told her husband that she wanted him to start walking with her like I had been walking so it is nice to be a bit of an inspiration too!

Hope you all have a wonderful week!
