  • Due to family activities and scheduling, Wednesdays at Subway has become a staple with my family. I love getting this salad. If I don't have hardboiled eggs during the day, I'll have a double chicken, otherwise I only go for single chicken. I usually have it either without dressing or with some olive oil. It is a nice treat to have all the veggies already sliced up for you.
  • I am 3 weeks new and can't wait to try this subway salad. Btw down 12.1 feeling pretty good
  • Quote: I took you up on your suggestion. Curiosity got the best of me so even though I'm not going back to Subway anytime soon, I went ahead and called! The guy that answered the phone had NO idea. So he weighed a chicken breast filet and the answer was 2.6 oz!? I guess my eyeballs have failed me! I find that incredibly hard to believe that it didn't weigh more, so I will poll a couple more Subways and see what the answer is. If so I have been SERIOUSLY short changing myself. Double chicken chopped salad, here I come!
Brelo, thanks for calling up Subway and asking about it! I'm going to stick with my game plan of going to Subway everyday and ordering the Double Chicken Chopped Salad. I find this to be the easiest way for me to stick with the program rather than preparing an IP meal at work everyday. I rather make my IP meals at home. My weekday meals usually go like this:

    Breakfast: RTD drink
Mid-Morning: Black coffee - nothing added
Lunch: Subway's Double Chicken Chopped Salad
    Late afternoon snack: IP bar
Dinner: IP soup & 2 cups veggies
  • I am so glad I found this post!! I had a training this week for work and I was worreid about what I was going to do for lunch since there was no place to eat lunch that I brought. I found this post so I scoped out the closest Subway and have had this salad twice this week so far. I added my own WF dressing, and it's just great. Each day I added different veggies so it made it a bit different. This now gives me a good alternative to go out for something quick without blowing my day away. Thanks for the info!!
  • Bruegger's has an IP chicken salad, at least the one in Fairbanks Alaska does!
  • My "go-to" salad has been Chick Fila's grilled chicken salad--- sooooo yummy, filled with crunchy broccoli and cabbage, and cheese/carrots are very easy to remove!! BUT, they just changed it and threw me for a loop- I ordered it this past week and their new "market salad" came with the most luscious looking strawberries and blueberries. SO fresh looking that one strawberry jumped into my mouth!!

Anyway, just a warning. Yay for Chick Fila for making a new salad that is healthy ( and really, very fresh for having berries!!), but I guess I will have to find a new favorite. Will try their Cobb next time and sadly remove the bacon.

Yay for salads on the go!

Which one? I would love to have an alternative salad if I am in a pinch.
  • Quote: Perhaps I am a little too much of a newbie on this, but this salad have dressing? If not, what do you all put on it?
I have them add little spicy mustard as they chop for dressing.
  • Quote: That salad was my saving grace more than a few times!

What I generally did was watch the server put the salad together. The lettuce is free, and what they grabbed was generally close to 1/4-1/2 cup per veggie depending on the person who made the salad. If you're a little light or a little heavy on the measurements it isn't going to make a huge difference. And banana peppers are not very high in carbs - one full cup only has 7 carbs according to nutritiondata.self.com
Thats awesome, I have a salad from Subway almost everyday. But I have a tuna salad, it is delicious but I'm not sure if it is Allowed on IP.

Be careful as the fat is higher than usual in IP - it's probably OK if you make other very low fat choices for the rest of your day and don't add any EVOO to your day.
An even better choice is the oven roasted chicken salad - much lower in fat 3.5g as opposed to 24g so you could even add a dressing that has oil in it, or have more choice for later in the day. nutritionix.com Subway chicken salad
Great that you are making much healthier choices than sandwiches though!
