230.2 for 5 days. How I long to see the 220's!!!

It has been a tsunami of a couple of weeks!!! OH MY GOSH. I feel like the armies of H*^$ are attacking us.

A good friend of mine went to the ER after being sick for a week, then got a fever (something the rest of the family didn't get with the bug). 2 hours later was in a coma. 3 days later (August 31st) passed away, leaving a loving husband and 7 year old boy with autism. They've determined it was West Nile Virus. :****(

Two weeks ago hubby, self and son were to do a weekend in Gatlinburg, only my hub had a bad toothache. Went to the dentist on Monday, root canal. It has been the worst nighmare. Pain, infection, face swelling like a baseball in it.Visit to the ER because the dentist did not have an emergency answering service. An ENTIRE week off work (he's not missed a day in 5 years!) Then the most humongous abscess I've ever seen with a fever.

He is finally feeling better today, and is attempting to work. Bless his mouth.

Son was suspended from school Wednesday. Jonathan has autism and has been extremely upset by a boy in his class who teases him non-stop. So Jonathan decided to take matters into his own hands. Payback was destroying some things the boy was making. Then while in the cool down (time out) room he hurled verbal threats. Enough to boot him from school for a few days.

Me? Well, I'm handling all this by feeling every heartbeat, all day long. (Had heart cath and stent a year ago) and wondering if my heart is going to beat out of my chest any moment.

Calgon take me away!

So that is my update. I know. Just what you want to hear on a Monday, holiday, morning.

By the way....would you all mind calling me "TN Donna" ? : )

Gosh TN Donna!! You have really been having a rough time. So sorry to hear about your friend. Will be sending prayers for her family. Pretty scary. My son lives in OK. and works outside so I have told him to be so very careful. He assures me he puts on plenty of repellent.

Hoping your heartbeats are just caused by all that is going on in your life right now. Maybe things will slow down a bit for you and get better... prayers.

Hi Chicks - I'm recovering. The day of surgery the doc gave me a nerve block which lasted about 16 hours. That's why I was able to post. Saturday I moved it around too much. Since it is my right one and I’m right handed it is hard to not use it. It hurt like heck - the pain meds weren't quite enough.I realized I had to NOT MOVE IT. Sunday was a little better and today about the same but I slept a little better last night. This sleeping semi sitting up and not being able to sleep on my right side is very annoying.

Gayle – so sorry you fell. I hope you are okay. Maddie and her bird are adorable.
TN Donna – very sorry for all of the troubles affecting your family. I have definitely felt that “Calgon, take me away” from childhood. They ought to use that again – every woman I know has times when they feel like that. Prayers and hugs coming your way.
Carole Sue – you are so right about finding something that you're passionate about. Now that my children have flown the coup, I’m trying to figure out what that is. Once this shoulder heals, I’m going to try a couple of things. Have to find something while I’m waiting for grandchildren!
Rie – I used to volunteer at a women’s shelter and they really needed clothes in large sizes. Also, when I used to run my church rummage sale (the cause of my bad back and shoulders!) I used to make up a Plus Size section because I know that people need them. I had ladies come back each year and ask if we had the plus sizes again. If you don’t want to put them in your own sale, donate to the Salvation Army or something. And be proud of yourself, how far you have come.
Welcome 2Bees. I know about being at that certain weight for a blink of an eye. I’m trying to get back there. Tell us about yourself.

Hi Gals. I'm finally home for the school year. DH starts work tomorrow so we won't be doing much traveling the next few months. I'm ready to hunker down and just enjoy being home. I should now be posting a little more regularly than the past few months.

Donna2, so sorry you are having such a stressful time with the death of your friend and family problems. This too shall pass but it sure doesn't seem that way when it's all happening. You can come here and vent any time you need to.

We've had frost warnings the last couple of nights so that's a sure sign that summer is coming to an end for me. I don't think we got any frost but my niece did. It just depends on where you live. Fortunately, the days are nice yet and even quite warm during midday.

Hope the long weekend was pleasant for all of you.

I'm back to work today. Im not sure what happened but my laundry basket got full for some reason. I think it was the holiday yesterday. To top it off we went to the camp yesterday and picked up the sheets and bath and kitchen towels to freshen up. It will soon be October and that means camping every weekend until end of February. I'm hoping for the cool weather to come in october this year. My ds is ok so far. Thank you for all your good thoughts and prayers. Can't wait until he gets to leave that refinery. Mid October can't come soon enough.
Diet ~not sure whats going on. I have gained 1.5 lbs lost it and maintained it. Now I'm back up 1 lb. I'm going to take a real hard look at what I'm doing and hope I can find the problem. Although I haven't lost anything this month I need to get another size. My one and only pair of 16 womans are getting baggy after a couple of hours of wearing them. I think I will have to go back up to 18's but in the ladies. I was looking at the sizes and I think womans stop at 16 and ladies start at 18. Is that right? Ladies must be a slimmer cut. I want to be in a ladies 12 or 14.

Donna~ so far my son is ok. He wants to come home real bad. Fall is not in the air for us. It's still hot and humid.

Isabella~ they always say there is no place like home. I agree. No ending to summer here yet.

Dee~I'm so glad to hear you are doing well after your surgery. Sleep habits are hard to break. Thanks for the prayers for my ds.

Karen31~ thanks for the prayers. He does NDT (X-rays pipes and welds) and has no idea what s going on in the unit until something goes wrong and he has to run.

TN Donna ~ west Nile is so scary. We have plenty of Mosquitos here too. Glad to hear your dh tooth feels better. I've never had that but they say it's very painful. Sorry to hear about your ds. I absolutely hate bullying. Let me guess the bully didn't get punished. That's usually the case. I use Calvin often too. It just never seems to work though. But it's worth a try lol.

Bobbi~ wow! That was an awesome garage sell. Apples now raspberries. Yum. The fruit trees are one of the things you will miss about selling your place.That critter that got your lemon probably didn't even eat the sour lemon. We had watermelons planted at the camp one time in some rich river sand. They made the biggest watermelons. They were almost ready to be picked and possums bit one end of watermelon and tunneled them out. Left them on the vine. We were so mad.

Carol Sue~ thank you for the prayers it is a very old refinery and they are trying to replace pipes. They have a years work ahead of them. But he has only until mid October. Hopefully. I loved the books you are reading.

I'm just plain poisoned (a term in Newfoundland meaning "put out" "mad or angry"). I received a phone call this morning around 9 am from a large building supply store (which shall remain nameless) where DH had a rain check for 3 sets of bathroom faucets. They had been on sale and of course there were none in the store. The girl informed me that they had come in about 2 weeks ago and she had phoned DH to let him know. We only got the rain check two weeks ago yesterday and had been in the store at least 3 times since inquiring about them and DH must have phoned 3 or more times. The girl had the nerve to argue with me that she was the one who talked with my DH. I got a bit rowdy and insisted that she hadn't. She actually continued to argue with me. I even checked my caller ID (even though I knew we never got a call) and there were no calls from this store in the last 3 weeks. Last week we actually had to buy a set of tub faucets at triple the cost so we could install the bathtub wall for our DS. I was steaming when I hung up. When DH got home for dinner I told him what happened and he confirmed that he never got a call. I just sent off a complaint on the company's web site. Doesn't anyone remember the customer's always right? In this case we were right. I've dealt with people and you don't argue with customers (or parent--I was a teacher, lol). A nice "I'm so sorry you didn't receive that call," would have gone a long way this morning. We didn't get that call.

Oh, BTW, Hello everyone. Just had to get that one off my chest. If that's the worst thing that happens this summer I'm doing quite fine.

Rie, as you might remember I volunteer at my church and the local Goodwill and I can tell you larger plus sizes are often hard to find. No wonder the ladies were tickled to get your cast-offs.

Cajun, I've been following your DS's saga with the oil refinery. So glad he's kept safe. We'll be mother hen's til the day we die. I used to think parenthood was a 20 year commitment until my boys got past 20. It's a lifetime.

Donna, thank you for that very nice welcome back after my summer hiatus.

I officially have 2 zucchini growing off my 2 plants. I know that sounds funny as zucchini are profuse but not mine. I guess I won't have an abundance of zucchini bread in the freezer this winter but we'll get at least one dish of sauteed zucchini, tomatoes and onions. I love that with a little cheese and herbs sprinkled on top. I haven't grown anything in years but saw these 2 plants at a hardware store almost the middle of July. I took them home and stuck them in the end of a flower garden and then took off for weeks on end. The problem is the timing of the blooming of the male and female flowers when there are only 2 plants. I think I'll give it another go next summer and put in 4 plants.

Must get a few things done around the house so it looks as if I'm actually doing housework. Catch you all later.

Bobbi - Hoping for good news about your car and home offers. I wanted an upright freezer back when I was going to bake cookies for sale. Nixed that idea after I did it once. My back couldn't take all the standing to bake.

Rie - $80 is better than nothing for things you didn't want anyway, but I know what you mean, there's a lot of prep work for those rummage sales.

Donna2 - I'm so sorry to hear that your friend passed away from West Nile. It's terrible what a little ole mosquito can do. DH gets bit a lot so I worry about him. I don't spend much time outdoors, so I rarely get bit.

That's a shame that your son was suspended. I guess his only other choice was to accept the bullying, and that's awful that the school doesn't do something about it, especially knowing of your son's special needs. I hope he's ok. Poor little kid!

Hi everyone.. big bummer Bobbie,maybe you will hear tomorrow. sry ive been mia. i had another bout of the wonderful side affects they dont talk about after bariatric surg. spent most of yesterday in the bthrm,i think im an original super shooter feeling better today. Rei glad u got rid of your clothes. i really like finding bigger sizes at g sales. not much else going on. spent the day catching up and on the puter. bought some more sock yarn and ive yet to make one pair. i think im a hoarder of craft supplys lol. have anice evening everyone. rosey

The kids left today. I'm tired but glad they came. We had a lovely day Sunday, our anniversary at our dd's house. Only one missing was our oldest dd who was here the previous week and couldn't come back. We did some site-seeing as his wife had never been in this area before and they went to church with us Sun. We got to meet our youngest grandchildren, one for the first time and the other for the first time since he was a couple mo only...he is now 20 mo. They are so precious and we loved taking care of them. Lots of tears were shed when they all left.

I actually lost weight while they were here which just brought me back down to my sig weight but I was happy about it. Sun was weigh-in day and I lost 1#, and today I lost another 6# but who knows whether it will stay gone. I haven't been tracking but just trying to be careful not to eat too much. My bs have been a little high but not terrible.
