Ugh! Gave In :(

Maybe plan ahead next time? Find some healthful recipes you can make at home as an alternative. I like to stir fry ground turkey with a bag of broccoli slaw and some soy sauce and fish sauce. It's still got a lot of sodium but at least it's without all the calories of the real thing. Tastes like an egg roll without the fried roll part .
I like idea of finding a healthy recipe of the same food. I have definitely seen healthy crab rangoon recipes floating around...I've been meaning to try it for a while! I'm just not much of a chef lol

but I also agree with the other posters. nothing wrong with treating yourself once in a while within reason. it gets the craving out of your system...and sometimes I think a spike in calories can help keep your weight loss moving as long as you don't do it too often.
  • Oh, getting nauseous from grease happens to me too! I used to love McDonalds, recently I went in with a friend because she wanted to grab a coffee and the smell literally made me sick. I started thinking "How did I ever eat this and enjoy it?"
You shouldn't be too hard on yourself for giving in, I think it's natural to do that from time to time. Treat this as an opportunity to learn something about yourself. How were you feeling that day, who were you with, what else had you eaten? Answering these questions will help you know more about your eating habits.
  • As others have said, it's not necessarily bad to treat yourself to something "illegal" every now and then. You showed control by not eating too much, well done!!!. And anyway, I wouldn't want to live in a world where I could NEVER have some of the foods I like (sweets in my case!).
  • Quote: I cannot let baked goods or pizza into the house because I will eat it until it is gone lol
Yep. It's why I bring things like Reese's peanut butter cups and Herschey's chocolate home for my kids as a treat, because - ehhh - I can take 'em or leave 'em. Don't bring cookies 'n cream ice cream in, though.....
  • Quote: So I gave in to a craving for chinese oh well can't turn back time...

Bad news: went over on my cals for the day by approx 850

Good News: It couldve been waaaaay worse. The fried rice and crabmeat rangoons I was craving tasted AMAZING as always, but the General Tso's chicken I always get just tasted gross and chemically so i threw it away after about 1/3rd... took me that long to determine it wouldn't suddenly taste good just cause I wanted it to lol

To top it off I am now nauseous from all the grease that my body is NOT used to anymore.
I love Chinese takeout, but I always order the plain steamed chicken with broccoli. It has been my favorite since I was a kid. There is an entire diet menu at every single Chinese takeout I've seen. It's plain steamed vegetables with a protein and comes with sauce on the side. You can drizzle a teeny bit of the sauce on your food or just make a quick sauce at home.

If I really, really want that fried flavor, I tend to go to Trader Joe's and get their frozen mandarin chicken for 210 calories a cup, and I also came across the baked crab rangoon recipe which I plan to make one day.
