That said, according to Dr. Chanh's online book (which is stitched with inconsistencies on allowable foods and amounts) he states the following:
All very low-glycemic index vegetables, or almost all vegetables, are allowed on the protein diet:
Vegetables to Enjoy:
asparagus, Swiss chard, celery, chicory, Chinese cabbage, cucumber, zucchini, watercress, endive, spinach, fennel, lettuce, mache (lamb’s lettuce), sorrel, bell peppers, radishes.
Other vegetables contain slightly more carbohydrates, but are still allowed (some nutritionists disallow them; however, if you don’t
overdo it, these vegetables will not keep you from losing weight).
Vegetables to Enjoy in Moderation:
eggplant, broccoli, fresh button mushrooms, cabbage, sauerkraut, cauliflower, red cabbage, green beans, turnips, dandelion, leeks, soy sprouts, tomatoes.

I just joined 3 weeks ago, so you would think I was given the most current info. I specifically asked my coach about cabbage, and he said the "greener, the better." When I saw your post, I pulled out my sheet and in small-small print in the bottom right hand corner, it says "05/24/11"!!! I am beginning to wonder if I am going to the right place!! The coach is nice and seemed well informed, but over the three weeks I have come to realize that things are "lacking" (can't think of a better term right now). After reading these boards, I see that things are too laid back at my location.I have never been measured, other than my initial consult/startup. The scale they use is just a weight scale. Nothing that shows percentage body fat, water, etc., etc. When I went in Tuesday for WI #3, there were 4 other people there waiting and things seemed very rushed and impersonal. I was helped by his assistant, who seemed over-worked and frustrated with the amount of people who had shown up at once (I am usually the only one there at the time I go). I brought in a list of what I wanted, and they were out of all of it so I had to shop in their cabinets. I guess I was taking longer than the assistant had planned, because she told me that "using the order sheets we give you really helps speed things up." UMMM, Hello?? I used the sheet, but you were out of everything I wanted.
As for as the cabbage, I am not sure what to do now. I have eaten it at least 2-3 times per week over the last 3 weeks, and I have lost 16 pounds. I hardly think it is slowing things down
On the weekends, I chop up a head of cabbage, put it in a big pot with 2 cups of water mixed with a packet of ham-flavored bullion (sp?). It's my favorite veggie to have.
