  • Great idea!! I'll consider in my menu
  • How many calories does it have and how much do you eat?

I'm not on the IPD, but I use tuna in water, it's 77 calories per 100grams, and I eat a can with 125grams(3.4oz) with salad, its D-E-Licious, tastes like I am indulging in something I shouldn't be!!!
  • The Costco can says 70 cal and 1g fat. I use the whole can at a meal. I used to only eat 1/2 but I was also loading it with 3/4 cup of mayo and 2 hard boiled eggs. That sounds kind of gross now.
  • Wow, what great ideas! Thanks!

  • Yummy
Thanks for the recipe...I made this tonight over a bed of spinach! DELISH!!!

Quote: Canned Tuna is a lifesaver when you are stressed for time.

    1. make sure it is packed in water, not oil
    2. The recipe above this post is great...I use a variation of it all the time. (Tuna, Mustard, Dill Pickle, chopped raw onions, a squirt of lemon juice, sea salt, crushed black pepper. I also often add horseradish which gives it a fantastic kick without being too spicy).
Some ways I eat it are:
    a) Scoop some onto a lettuce leaf and roll it up.
    b) Make a salad and then add the tuna with a homemade dressing (I love using the Cilantro Lime Mustard dressing)
    c) But in a container to take to work (refrigerate!). I will often bring 1 container of the tuna, and another container with either a sliced, salted and peppered (and tabasco-ed) tomato or a bed of lettuce.
    d) Cut a tomato in half. Scoop out some of the wet insides. Drizzle 1 tsp olive oil on both halves and sprinkle with herbs (basil, thyme, oregano), sea salt, and pepper. Scoop in tuna in both halves. Bake at 200C for 5-15 minutes depending on how baked you want it. (I bake for about 7 minutes).
Warm...inviting... and can be put together and on the table in less than 15 minutes including baking time... less if its pre-made in the fridge.

Or if you want to get fancy, you can make Succulent Tuna Patties (click here) which are really elegant and able to be served to the whole family.

and fresh grilled tuna with just lemon/lime juice, sea salt, and heaps of black pepper... BLISS!

    Long Live Tuna the Wonderfish!
  • Steven you look fantastic!!!
  • Hello all,

Sorry about this, I'm a newbie. 2 things, I thought we weren't allowed to have tomatoes? And, can I do tuna at lunch, instead of protein drink and still have meat at dinner?

We can have tomatoes once or twice a week its a restricted veggie. If you have the tuna a lunch you have to subtract it from your protein that night. You will still have to have that lunch packet sometimes during the day
  • OMG, hubby will love that. He and my son are doing this with me. Hubby is a butcher (meat cutter), so he needs more substance during the day and not as much during the night meal. I actually like this better, cause dinners tend to run late at our house.

  • Tomorrow is my first day at work since I started back and I'll probably be working 2pm-8:30 which means I need to eat during that time. Last time I did IP, I wasn't working so I didn't have to deal with meals to go. Tuna is sounding like a winner for me---though 8oz is a lot of any meat, so we'll see.
