  • Hi---I know your original question was about fruit, but when you posted your entire 'typical day', I wonder if part of your problem with weight loss is eating a lot of processed foods instead of whole foods. Your dinner seems like its generally not processed, but your snacks (aside from fruit) and breakfast and lunch are all processed. Could you find more ways to get whole foods into your diet (unrefined carbs, zero points vegetables, more unsweetened dairy?). That might help
  • I agree that I should eat veggies and I was trying to get across that I do eat them. I was saying that since my roommate doesn't really like them I usually make broccoli with cheese sauce, creamed spinach, green bean cassarole, squash cooked with balsamic, etc. But once I add saucesto the veggies, I end up counting the veggies as points. My concern was that eating too many 0 point things was the issue.

I really like sfree13's suggestion and I think I will count the fruit as points if u eat more then 2 or 3 servings. It's just that 46 points seems like a lot and I usually feel like an apple is better then popcorn or chips even if I have the points.
  • Maybe it is the processed foods thing but I'm not that convinced. I haven't changed much of my food choices since I switched from the old point program and I was seeing success with that eating the same kinds of foods. It is a thought that and I will consider, mixing it up with less processed foods when I start my next week on saturday.
  • Have you changed anything other than the fruit when moving from the old plan to the new plan? If not, it may be the fruit.
  • No, I really haven't changed anything. Just the fruit and I started eating lean beef again since the points are the same for ground turkey and ground beef. Previously I had been eating mainly turkey and chicken meats only. Not to be too personal but since I started eating the beef, I have been less regular. I started taking psyillium husk powder last night hoping to move things along. I'm really hoping this is my main problem. Since I started this thread, I cut down to 2-3 servings of fruit. Keeping my fingers crossed for tomorrow's weigh in. I really appreciate all the comments though.
  • It is rarely the fruit that makes a person gain weight. I have on an average 6-8 1 cup servings of fruit a day. I did not gain weight because I ate a lot of fruit, if that had been the case I would not be sending this email. Eat the fruit, it fills the body and has wonderful vitamins and minerals.

This could EASILY be your 2 lb gain. I wouldn't start worrying about fruit until you have trouble losing weight for a few weeks. Your body is probably just getting used to the different meat. Good luck with your weigh-in!!
  • I was reading some other posts and realized I think I was eating too many bananas in particular. I love bananas and hardly ever ate them since they were two points on the old system. Now that they are zero I was eating one every day, sometimes two a day. On a different post somewhere on the site I saw that bananas can block some people up. I stopped eating them yesterday and drank some smooth move tea last night. I'm still not feeling competely back to normal, but better and my weigh in the morning put me back to my previous loss, the two pounds I gained last week came back off. I an going to take more smooth move tea tonight and hope I will be back to normal tomorrow. I think I will also start taking a fiber supplement and limit myself to 1-2 bananas a week. I really appreciate all the comments and support though. This has really helped me to reevaluate what I have been eating and although I don't think mt fruit intake was causing a gain, I have decided to cut back to three servings a day.
