  • Another thing I like is that you can just drop in and do it on your time instead of checking to see when the meetings start and trying to get there for that.
  • I've been a lifetime member of WW since the 80's. Yes, I lost the weight and gained it back. I just couldn't bear to go to the weigh in in January. It always seemed to be the same people year after year.
So, I thought that this was crazy doing the same thing all the time but expecting different results so I joined MRC. I like MRC more because it's so much more restrictive. Give me choice, and I choose chocolate!
The cost is a negative factor in supplements and such but my food bill is so much less so it evens out.
My weight loss is so much better with MRC. Much better than with WW's.
I am worried about keeping the weight off. I'm 53 years old and I can't go through this yo-yo stuff again.
  • Quote: I am not going to be concerned with the cost. I am thinking about the final result. I am 27 and will be 28 in just a few weeks. I should not be 286 pounds. WW really has not worked for me cause the points really do allow me to cheat and eat fast food and I am hungry a lot. As far as the money is concerned for my health and my future I need to invest into me. This may mean a few less vacations a year but in the long run I will still take more cause I will live longer. I know next week I may drop a few hundred dollars but it will be worth it if I am a hundred pounds lighter in a year or so. Money well spent is money that is ok to be spent.
I love your response about the money! Good for you! I am here rooting for ya like all these other wonderful ladies. I love that you are really checking into it all , and really discovering what is best for you! Congratulations. I am excited to track your progress with MRC!

That's exactly how I felt about it - and, frankly, the money has been a source of motivation to me - I saw it as an investment and refuse to just walk away from that investment. That's my penny pinching side. I signed up for WW a couple years ago because I saw my sis-in-law have great results with it, but there wasn't the level of accountability and support that I've found with MRC. Plus, the menu makes sense to me - it's smart to eat this way. I've found myself very glad that there aren't prepacked frozen meals in the grocery store. I have to plan, and think, and cook, and shop and eat in a way that's healthy. I have not taken any supplements except the HNS and the fiber drink. I buy my multi-vitamin and flax oil from Wal-Mart. I wanted to see how my body would respond to the simplest version of it.

This is actually good for me to write because I've had a tough week and it's good to remember what the heck I'm doing and why I'm doing it!!!

No plan will work unless YOU decide to make it work and it sounds like you're ready for that! You'll do great! This is a great place for support if you need it.
  • With WW I couldn't stay on program because I would binge on carbs. If I wanted to use 6 points on carbs, it would easily turn into a binge. That plan is not so disciplined. I need something that my only option is sticking to it or I wouldn't lose.
  • I also did WW and lost a lot of weight... but couldn't keep it off. And you guys all had pretty much the same experience I did. I always used my points on unhealthy stuff and never learned to eat well. I needed something that forced more discipline. I'm new to MRC but so far I think it'll really help me.
  • Add me to the list of why WW failed. Choices. I know better, I took an entire semester of nursing school on nurtition. I need a "reboot". I lost weight on WW, but never a lot and never permenant. I know a lot of people who did great on WW, I wasn't one of them. Here's to hoping you can add me to the success stories of MRC.
