    you will get plenty of support in here.
    i have just started this myself and am doing the calorie counting. i keep track of all calories eaten in a day and stick to 1200 calories a day, give or take a few.
    i have started jillian michaels 30 day shred, just did day 2, it looks easy but is tough. not too much $, got it at walmart, can probably get is cheaper off of the internet.
    i have 2 kids, a full time job, and not much $$, so i can't go to the gym or take off on a nice walk, run with out my kids, so i have to find stuff to do at home, i got dvd's and that is what i have to go on, billy blanks tae bo is also good, i used to do those a few years ago, i gained some weight since then so i have to work back to up to doing those so i can do the whole workout.
    if you need an email buddy we could do that, just let me know your email.
    we can email each day what we did or did not do and push each other.
    again welcome and it doesn't matter where you start just start.....

  • Thanks girls, I did walking today, it's darn hot today! UGHHH I never like diet coke and I never like dr. pepper. lol I have tried Coke Zero, oh man I threw up. lol So I was thinking that I can just drink one coke a day, water, flavor water, and milk. That should help me. I wish I can drink orange juice but I can't, I have stopped about 4 or 5 years ago. I had bad reflux in my cheat from Citrus so I can't drink OJ. I have eat wheat bagel with cream cheese, snack nuts (honey roasted), a sandwich (wheat, turkey, jack cheese, mustard, lettuce). And as for dinner grilled chicken with diced tomatoes, green beans and wheat rices. Sound good? lol Good thing I am not big fond of fried chickens or french fries. Too much grease for me! Again, your words doest meant to me to keep going!
  • Thanks, momof2kz. I wouldn't mind to email each other and keep this going. I am still learning how this caloires works from the previous post so I am still reading the website she mentioned and get habit to count the calories. I too have been so impsired by their weight loss pictures and I like it this forum so much, more tips unlike other website. And best of all, it's all REAL people. That will get me going that I will be able to lose weight! I want to prove my family wrong that I can lose weight and that I am not fat (yes they have called me fat or names). So you can see why I wanted to have some support that I don't have very much, just my best friend but she is going through stuff on her own and I don't want to bug her. She don't want to lose me for being overweight and encourage me to lose weight for her kids which I love the most. I hope you all reach your goal as well!
  • when you get further in you'll probably get to the point where you HATE drinking away your calories, i know thats how i changed. when you only have a limited number you start to really hate the idea of wasting so many on beverages. it'll probably just work itself out. no worries.
  • Hi Kelly, its never too late to start improving your health. I've been down the same road - thought I could never change my bad habits but I did and I've lost 34 Lbs. in 6 months and I'm very near my goal of 135 now. I also went from a 42-inch waist to a 31-inch waist.

    You too can reach your goals! As others here have said, start by walking a bit each day, 30 minutes or so. Progress to walking a bit faster when you feel that you are able. I usually just grab my mp3 player and go for it.

    There are also many exercises which you can do at home, all free. You can do ab crunches, lunges, mountain climbers, jump rope, jumping jacks, squats, planks, and others. These are the same exercises which are offered in many fitness classes and you can do them at home too. Videos help but you can do it pretty good with just good music.

    Next, I recommend that you get or get access to an accurate scale. You need a way to track your progress.

    As to cutting out soda etc., I'm convinced that if I did it, then anyone can. I was a big, big rootbeer/pepsi fan. And in those days I was known for never, ever passing up a rootbeer float. Oh yeah, and my favorite food in the world was the hamburger. Worse than Wimpy on Popeye I was .

    My wife never said anything when I shot up to 175 Lbs. on my 5' 2" frame but I could tell that she was worried about me. I was too.

    So one day, I finally had had enough and I just made the changes right then and there - no more rootbeer, floats, burgers, and other such nastiness. I switched to drinking nothing but black coffee & water. I still do. I totally cut red meat from my diet and now eat chicken, fish, and fresh fruits & vegetables.

    As a special treat, I will eat something sweet on occasion such as ice cream but that is rare enough so as not to affect my overall diet.

    So you see, you can do what is necessary to lose weight and become healthier. I also know that there is a tendency to go back to familiar bad habits during times of stress but don't do it - learn to completely control the cravings & urges. You can do this.

    Good luck on your journey and please keep us posted here on your progress. BTW, I am also a photographer from way back, and although I don't make my living from it anymore, I still do paid jobs every now & then. My cameras of choice are an Olympus 420 w/50mm 1:1.4 prime lens for quality work and a Canon S3 for everything else.....
