I want to eat beans again! Do they count as a complex carb or a protein? I'm going to ask him but I bet he might not know. He's new at this too.

Birman, Do you eat beans and how do you count them in your daily nutrition? Thank you for sharing the banana information!! I knew that bananas are high in calories and carbs. That's why I haven't eaten one yet. But as I've only been eating 1100-1200 calories every day for the past 2 weeks, I might need them now. You always share the best information, thank you so much! Thanks for stepping and and correcting me as bananas have too many carbs for phase 3 breakfast. Unless you want to eat part of a banana and throw the rest in the shrubbery!
CinnamonSparkles, I'm still in Phase 1 mode so I don't eat beans yet. Too many carbs. Regarding Phase 3, since I'm so far away from that I haven't even really looked at into it yet. Sorry to be of no help.
  • Thanks Birman! That's good to know because it means what I thought was correct - beans have a lot of carbs! MuayThaiGoddess told me that beans count as 1 carb and 1/2 a protein. I'm going to figure out how to use them in my dinner. Realized that now that I'm on phase 4/maintenance, if I follow the IP sheet I don't get enough carbs. LOL! I'm going to do my own nutritional analysis to see what and how much of things I should be eating. The Phase 4 sheet seems like too much protein - yesterday I ate 118 grams of protein! And no IP packets, powders, and also no seafood either. My first day back to being fully vegetarian and I had way too much protein. Hahahaha! Chuckle. I'll go over to your other thread too and maybe I'll see what the Suzanne Summers diet has to offer. Other than that, I'm checking into raw foods because they are so good for the body. Eventually I will figure out what to eat. But for now, I'd like to say that I feel really healthy! The IP diet was a huge success because now I don't even want sugar at all. There were Panera bagels in the kitchen at work this morning and I really couldn't be bothered with them. I used to love the cinnamon bagel they make. Very weird, but in a good way! My body is my temple and I want to eat the right things to keep it running at its peak!
  • Quote: Good Morning! It's SNOWING here in northern eastern California!

Great news: I lost 5 pounds since Monday (5 days ago.)

I re-started strict Phase I IP and I am losing 1 pound per day, just like I did back in October when I did it the first time.

    Yay!!!!!

But I need help with keeping track of the 20-pound challenge group.
I need someone to create a simple chart and post it on their blog (Jordanna?) or start a new thread. Suggestions welcome. So far in the challenge we have: Lilita175, toomanycats, Evita (my sis), SylvieG, Jordanna and SandraB.

    We can do it!

Right now I have to get ready for work (12 hour shift) and will check in again in the morning.

    Have a great weekend, everyone!
Wow congrats on the loss Lilita, that's amazing!! I hope after I take my break from Phase 1 & 2 this summer I get awesome results like that come the fall when I get back into the beginning phases again! I miss those big losses

I would love to keep track of everyone's losses and post them on my blog. I love challenges, they're fun and so supportive!

I weigh in on Monday mornings so I'll post everyone's results weekly when I post mine! It might help if anyone in the challenge can PM me on their weigh in day as we all have different days to weigh in and it will be hard to keep track of it!

    Hi Jordanna,
just read your blog - great! Love the recipe for pita wedges - got to try that! Since I have a box of orange pancake mix I wonder if I could make a "sweet" cracker? I have three boxes of higher carb IP in the back of the pantry not to touch till phase 2. Will your link always be on your posts or should I bookmark it to check on the stats of the challengers?!? Thanks for doing that too

As far as weigh-in days....I restarted Friday (yesterday) but if it would be easier I could post monday weights.
  • Congrats!
Quote: Just checking in to see how everyone is doing. I'm doing phase 3 and other than a visit with family (and some really, really delicious food) have been eating sensibly. Haven't had an official weigh in but think I'm still o.k. I find phase 3 pretty straightforward - protein, carb, fat, fruit. Only challenge in the a.m. is the protein - eggs and meat aren't my thing every morning. I have bought some president's choice vanilla whey protein isolate and mix that into a smoothie or into my oatmeal and milk. works. Having fruit has been a real treat - who knew that taking a break from fruit would make me appreciate it so much more.

Went to the city clothes shopping - it was so much fun to try things on and actually have them fit - i might turn into a clothes horse!

    Happy Easter Chicks!!
Congratulations on making your goal weight!! How fun to shop and like it!!

150 is my goal too but after weighing Friday I will set 20 lbs as goal to get me into another phase. Then the other 10 slower.

    Happy Easter!!
  • Hey toomanycats - the link to my blog is always on the signature line so you should be okay to find it, I usually comment somewhere on the boards at least once a day!

You can post on Friday's and I'll try to keep track of everyone's days!! If I miss anyone I might PM you to find out how you did that week

Regarding the sweet pita wedges - I was thinking of trying a cinnamon sugar type one so I'm sure an orange flavored one would be great too Might be good with a bit of ground cloves if you like that sort of flavor
  • Quote: Way to go Chicks!! Love the challenge and hope you stay on this board so I can see how you're all doing without having to go to another spot to snoop in on you all - please don't start another thread
I hi there Mom22! So great to hear from you. Okay, we will keep track of the challenge on this thread.

I suggest that those of us in the challenge indicate it somewhere in their signature. (see my signature below)

And then just post your progress in your regular postings.
  • Confession: Oh, I had a hard and stressful shift in the ER last evening. And I gave in to a tiny piece of cheesecake (after eating an IP lunch) that someone brought. Then I had some chocolate Easter candy (after an IP dinner) that tasted AWFUL (waxy and chemically.) Lesson learned on that one.

The rest of my shift was IP friendly. I ate a lot of salad and had raw veggies with each meal. So I don't think the damage is gonna be too bad.

My official weigh-ins are Wednesdays so I have a few days to straighten myself out.

Happy Easter to those of you that celebrate it!

Hi Jordanna, can you add me to the challenge? I have 19 lbs to reach my goal by June 1st. I usually weigh with the coach at night and the numbers are never an accurate story of what is going on since I sit at a desk all day. Would it be okay with everyone if I use my home scale and weigh every Thursday morning as my weekly day since April 1st was a Thursday? My weight Thursday April 1st was 189 and my goal is 170. I hope this helps to motivate me to stick to the plan without the little indulgences along the way.

We can do this! We have all reached amazing weight loss already!

Sure harlee What day do you weigh in?? I'm trying to keep track so that I remember to come to the alternate board to check on weigh in days!
  • I've been reading people mentioning EAS shakes but I was wondering if anyone has substituted using MuscleMilk Lite. Also, I used to eat Pure Protein Bars for breakfast all the time and they have relatively same nutritional info and ingredients as the IP Bars. Has anyone used either of these products as an alternative?

I'm running out of IP Bars and they are the only restricted food I eat for breakfast everyday, and I don't want to pay a fortune to get more and the EAS bars seem to have a little too much carbs and calories. Any suggestions?
