Agree completely.
My best snacks are a sliced apple with an ounce of sliced cheese, or a boiled egg and an orange.
The advantages of these snacks for me include: They give me the feeling that I ate something, which soft-mushy snacks like yogurt and cottage cheese do not do for me. They (except for the cheese) are self-limiting little portion-controlled packages, unlike cereal or nuts, for example. And they include the big three macronutrients - fat, protein, and fiber - that I need in my snacks to avoid feeling hungry.
