GOOD AFTERNOON MAGNOLIAS

It is an overcast gloomy day here in the Heartland. Winter it is. We are supposed to get some "weather" the later part of the week. Will is at the cancer center doing his volunteer work this day and all is quiet with an occasional dog bark. It was so cute when I let Ragg Mopp out back he dropped his ball (he usually has a tennis ball in his mouth most of the time) and it bounced down the steps. Chica picked up the ball and ran a few steps back then dropped the ball and it bounced back to Ragg Mopp. They played that way for a few bounces.

JEAN Yep, looks like I stuttered. If I delete one of those posts will it delete both of them? Your weather statement sounds quite a lot like Edgar Allen Poes. CA must now be out of the long drought they have experienced. My people out there haven't mentioned any distress they have experienced during this storm though so all is well there for them. I imagine we will hear some good things form Brown if he stays the course he has spoken.

DONNA FAYE I sure hope you get some help when you see the doc this day. You probably nailed it when you said your meds contribute to your weight gain. Meds can play havoc with our systems. Sorry you have to go across town to get that package. I am sure you will like the books though.

SUSAN Dear Susan, I hope all is well with you this day.

I need to go get something to eat. Here it is almost 2 of the clock and I haven't been out to the kitchen yet. Type at y'all later.

Good evening, ladies! A cold, wet day. It's been raining since yesterday evening.

Another ho-hum day at my house.

Faye, my grandmother's didn't quilt but my great-grandmothers did and I slept under their quilts. I've always wanted to make a quilt but stuck with dressmaking. I made dresses, suits, even one for my husband, coats, you name it, I've made it. When we moved to Virginia, one of the first things I did was visit the library to get a card. While there I saw a poster about a quilting bee that met there with a number to call and that was the beginning of my quilting career. That was in June and then I saw an ad in the paper about a quilting class at the community center so I signed up for that. I made a quilt entirely by hand in that class. It was 10 weeks. The next class was machine quilting and the third was applique. I was off and running. I used to sew, do crewel and counted cross stitch, needlepoint, knit and crochet. They have all fallen by the wayside and quilting has taken over. It brings me great satisfaction, satisfies my creative urge, great joy to give quilts to others.

I hope the doctor gets you straightened out so you feel better again.

Jean, won't be long now and you'll be basking on the beach - hang in there with your nasty weather.

Maggie, the article on sitting was very interesting. I liked your story on how you got into glass making. What satisfaction to know you have windows all over!

Well, have a good evening. Time for TV, I think.

Good Morning, Flowers! It's another day of "more of the same" kind of weather. There will be some snow and ice in the mix Saturday night so I'm hoping we can still go to Sioux City. I'm looking for a couple of spring outfits but have my doubts after seeing all of the winter/Christmas stuff still in Penneys last weekend. Bob's Christmas party scheduled for Saturday night has been postponed to the weekend we will be in Maui. That's a bummer because it's the first time in years it has been held right here in Storm Lake.

I've been sorting through a pile of clothes. Bob thinks "I" lost a pair of his favorite slacks that he wears to the office. I have clothes I haven't worn for years and need to get rid of! I hate trying on clothes to see if they still fit when I haven't worn them in a long time. I need to just put them in a box and get rid of them.

Maggie -- Is RM still looking for the kittens? I'm glad he and Chica get along since they share the same yard space. It's good your CA people are safe. I couldn't remember what part of CA you were from; I don't know the state geography very well, and have to look up places they talk about on the news.

Susan -- I barely remember my grandma having a quilting frame (?) set up in her livingroom when I was a little girl. I don't ever remember seeing her actually quilting though. Their house had a small den so they only used the livingroom when company would visit, and she could leave the frame set up. We didn't have room for a frame so my mom never started quilting. She was an excellent seamstress and I think that is why I never showed much interest in sewing. I spent more time ripping out than anything. I hope your rain is gone and you are having a nice day. Any plans for the weekend?

Good morning, ladies. Still raining but already in the low 40s so warmer than yesterday.

I've been to the doctor already. I had her measure me and I have lost 1.5 inches! I used to be 5'6" and now I'm 5'4.25". I thought I was shrinking because I now have to hem pants when I buy them and they were always perfect before. Of course, that means my goal weight has to be lower. She is scheduling me for a bone scan. I have to double my calcium and divide the dosage so I'm taking it twice a day and she also put me back on 50,000 units of Vitamin D once a week.

Jean, nothing going on this weekend but housework. Since I was gone last weekend, it needs it. Of course, I'll get a little quilting time in as well. Men always say women lose their clothes...like we wear them when they aren't looking. I'm surprised the summer clothes aren't out in the stores. It always seem like the stores never match the season.

I'm going to make a big pot of vegetable soup today. Weigh in tomorrow will not be pretty because the last 2 days have been very bad. You can eat too much healthy food.
