  • I just got off work and I'm watching American Gangster with DB. I just wanted to pop in and say hi, since I got Mermaid's message about being lonely I have been unintentionally lurking  I'll try to post more often!

Ginger - I have Monday off. I'm so exhausted, I just want to stay in my pajamas and do NOTHING. Unfortunately, I have homework. I'm a little worried that being in the house all day might be a trigger for bad eating. I just want to RELAX!
I hope your school lets up a little for you soon. Good luck with the studying! Do you get spring break? If so, when will it be?

Kerry - Thank you for the prayers! That is very sweet of you

To the other ladies - Hi, and I hope everyone enjoyed their (long?) weekend!
  • Well, today was ok, but surely not what I would have liked. Had to go to NJ to take my dm's cat for her annual shots- plus got a bunch of errands done.
And did some minor repairs at dm's. Would have loved to stay home and just hang out with Dd, but had to do this. I really do not at all feel as though I had any additional time off. Oh well.

Penelope- we have a really insane spring break. Easter is a 4 day weekend and our spring break is the week of Passover. Interesting..........so I have a long time off until a long break (Passover is in April). Hope you got your studying done and some rest too!

Off to hit the books for me. Sorry for being so short- gonna be like that all week.
    Ginger
  • hey ya'll! running in to say hello! NO. I had to work today. My school system is the only one around that had to work! UNFAIR! Re: Spring break.... We also have a 3.5 day weekend for Easter with Spring Break being scheduled for the first week of April. (I'm heading to NYC with the HS Band the last week of March which is sandwiched between Easter and Spring Break!)

Gin, what are you studying for? Sorry you "used" your free day taking care of dm's cat etc... (Just think of me.... I didn't even get to take care of my mom's cat!) (((Hugs)))

Penelope, THERE you are! Glad to "hear" you back to your usual self! Hope you got your homework done without eating the kitchen! (((hugs))) to you as well!

Where is my favorite AvonLadyTeacher? Kerry, hope all is good out your way! (((hugs)))

Gotta run...... will check in tomorrow....
    take care,
    move that fanny!
    meeeee
  • Well SOMEONE here is a Jimmy Buffet fan! Thought I was the only one. I am amongst my group of friends.
  • Hi PhillyGirl! Fins to the right! )

Running out the door but will return!

Have a great day! Take care!

Thanks, Mermaid! First time I've smiled in weeks!
  • Well it is Tuesday, and our friend Kerry, is I hope, heading to her TOPS meeting and having a good WI. Positive Scale Fairy thoughts going your way, Kerry!! Miss you!

Mermaid- send me those dates for the trip. We have to try to work something out. (my spring break is like yours, short). I am studying for the written part of my 19A exam. Before Thanksgiving, I went to a course enabling me to become a Certified Examiner at work, which enables me to professionally evaluate my coworkers. (it is a long thing to explain, but we have to take an annual defensive driving test, a biennial written test and a biennial road test, all administered by a CE). My Dept mgr recommended me for becomming a CE (believe me I was not looking for it) and the first part of that process for me is Friday am, when I have to take the written test and the eye test. If I pass those, then it is on for another road test and a mock evaluation of another driver (to prove that I can critique another driver properly). This position will not make me popular.......nor is it easy. And this week I am up to my eyeballs studying all the manuals, laws, regs......etc.
I am a wreck over it- and have reached a dilemma with a coworker over it. Thought she was a friend, and well, it seems as though she would rather gossip than be my friend. Oh well........Sorry you had school yesterday. How has your week been? Get your fanny moving today????
I did- got 3 AP's in of walking.

Better go get my fanny back to the books.

    Hi to everyone........

  • Hey ya'll! Sitting here with my weekly slice of my dh's most wonderful pizza cooling beside me! I *DO* love weigh in day.....cause that means homemade pizza! Anyway.... just in case you all have smell-a-net internet...wanted to warn you about what you were smelling!

PillyGirl, welcome! So you are a ParrotHead? Our friend who initially set up the threads for us is a HUGE JB fan! My boys were lulled to sleep by JB when they were babies! Even had their own Parakeet shirts! Nothing like a toddler singing certain songs at the top of his lungs while in the car seat to get a "mother of the year" nomination! (You can imagine!) My guys are now 16 and nearly 13 and appreciate THE music.... but tend to ignore THE parents, THE blender and the rest of the goings on! We haven't been to a meeting of "the church of Buffett" since the Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays tour. The kids are bigger...and don't want to be left behind. They want to go. JUST how do we *DO* that?! BTW, the gals here in this CoconutT2 thread are THE greatest support I've ever had.... but truthfully, I'm afraid that what I've just typed is the MOST that anyone has ever typed regarding being Parrotheads! PLEASE don't think that you're not welcome tho! Just grab a stick of JuicyFruit and meet my girls! (I'll talk about JB ANYTIME! I miss seeing his shows and doing the hula with the Parrotheads so very much! Gonna have to go check out his summer schedule now!) So. Tell me about your life as a Phead! AND of course, so that we don't ignore the reason we are all here.... Welcome to 3fc AND congrats on your loss that is noted in your ticker! Whooohooo! WAY to go! Welcome and please stick around! (I've been to Philly once.....and can't wait to tell you all about it! LOL I'm kidding!)

Gin, I remember now! Hope that your studying is going well....and SSSOOOO sorry to hear that your colleague is a butthead! Being in a position of authority with your peers is difficult..... AND it has even caused me to RESIGN as leader of my BiggestLoser Team! (as if I was "really" some sort of authority!) Anyway.... Hang in there! ....I KNOW that you will do very well on your exams! (((hugs))) ...and yes, I moved my fanny! In fact, I think I PULLED my fanny muscle bowling...OUCH!

Kerry, girl, where are you?! Hope you are doing well! Hope you are getting in your "sweat sessions"! I've got to tell you that I've been messing with the scale that I announced that I hate cause I couldn't operate it correctly and viola.... I'm getting the hang of it AND sort of liking it... as much as anyone can LIKE a scale! So. Let us hear from you!

Penelope, How is it going? Hanging in there? Keeping yourself busy with homework and school and work and keeping those binges at bay, I hope! Was thinking of you the other day in the grocery as I was fretting over money! ...just so you know, as if this helps.... You're not alone with the money worries and troubles! I hear you.... and feel your pain! How's the weather where you are? Hope it isn't too yucky and that it is beginning to look / feel more like spring!

Summmmmerrrrr, totally miss you and your "spunk"! Know that you are very busy.... you know I understand...and I even fall into "that hole" from time to time....but just in case you ever come by or check in...just wanted to make sure that you knew that we've not forgotten you and are always hopeful that you will find a moment to come back! Hope that you and your family are doing well!

Hello to everyone else.... My father just pulled into the driveway, so I've gotta run! Updated my ticker thingamabob to show that I've subtracted 1.5 pounds this week! I'm getting closer to my first goal! I'm so excited and motivated and strong and....he is banging on the door....gotta run!

    take care,
    meeeeeee
  • A short good evening!
Mermaid, I gotta say that I so enjoy a vintage rant from you. Thanks for all the nice stuff you said about us here. We love having you here too!!!
How did your visit with Dd go? Gee you like a scale????? Ya losin' it?hehehehe
    Congrats on the loss.

Its gonna snow Friday....probably a snow day for us, but I still get to take my darned test and have an hour drive in the miserable snow to get there!
But I will be in a district vehicle, which is built like a tank and has 4WD.
    Still stressful..........gotta go study..........nite all!
(Summerrrr I miss you too!) Hi Kerry, Penelope and Philly

  • Busy with Kid1 last night. Mandatory Safety Meeting as part of Driver's Ed. Poor kid! Only made my arguments stronger as NOW I have statistics to quote! Let him drive home in the snow. He did well. I only have 3 dozen new white hairs! The snow was sort of interesting as we had 70degree weather on Monday! I've already RUN to the window like a child to see how DEEP the snow is and turned on the news to hear that school is canceled or at the very least delayed. Sigh. Um. Nuuuu thin doing! So. I've gotta run!

    Study Gin!
    move it!
    take care,

  • Glad that you have mandatory new drivers safety stuff in Va. The statistics really show that all that training helps.......let me know if he needs additional inforcement in that area, as I am, for better or for worse, capable of talking about safe driving/defensive driving for hours. Sorry you did not have a snow day, Ms Mermaid. Wonder if that is the same system that will hopefully give us a snow day tomorrow.! Did you get a workout in?

Got about 3 miles of walking in today.....driving and meetings most of the day though (we had our mandatory 3hr safety refresher today).
Gotta go study- and if we do have a snow day, a coworker will drive me to the test (an hour away) so at least I do not have to freak out about driving in 6" of snow and sleet (which is what we are supposed to get!).

Take care........Hi to everyone I missed......think good thoughts for me and this test tomorrow.
    Ginger

VIRGINIA! got SNOW! I am REALLY getting peeved now! Philly hasn't had more than traces all winter! We were in Chincoteague for a week last summer, and drove down to the Virginia Beach area checking out lighthouses. Crossed the Chesapeake Bay Bridge, of course, what an experience! Too flat down there for me though. I want mountains.

Thanks for the welcome. Don't envy people with teenagers learning to drive. My kid is 37 now and I vividly remember her learning to drive. (I don't drive myself, hubby taught her, I was spared that hair-raising chore.) We bought her a Camaro to go off to college in, and she totalled it three months later! No injuries, thank God, but I will still NEVER recover from that! Evidently, accident wasn't her fault, supposedly hit a box in the highway, but I wasn't there.... You know how it goes with 19 years olds!

Yes, I'm a Parrothead! Have most all of JB's vinyl and tapes, haven't upgraded to CDs yet. Tells you how old I am!
  • Hey Philly girl, you get some snow out of this system??? Bet you did, how much?

We have snow, still coming down as freezing rain. I postponed my test for 2 weeks, (over the protest of my Dept Mgr, but the roads were horrible!).
Had a snow day, and I had a 9:30 appt, 40 miles from here and had to take windey, mountain roads to get there. Don't think so, not with all this darned snow! I did try out my new workout DVD, Kathy Voight burn and firm. I will be sore tomorrow......but it was pretty good. Just a bit over in intensity from the Leslie DVDs- but I kind of liked it. Of course I looked quite the "spas" trying to get it done, you know the spastic way you look the first time thru a new workout. But it was pretty good, and she varies the workout nicely.
My eating has been so so....gotta get myself back in mode for next weeks WI.
But TOM is due soon..so that will cause me some troubles with self control.

Oh well, gotta go. Have a great weekend!
    Ginger
  • Hey hey hey! Glad you were safe Gin! Sorry to hear that you needed to cancel that test though! Glad to hear you got in your workout! My blood pressure is the only thing that got a workout today. Dealing with parents of my students. Then the new student teacher showed up to meet me. Great first impressions! ARGGGH! and to add insult to injury....The winter weather missed us with the exception of barely drizzling rain all day LONGGGGG. Temperatures hovering right around 35 not going over 40 with a nice cooooool breeze to boot! ARGGH! This week has been SO very rough at school. I'm so glad that it is over! I'm going to work hard while I've got a load of laundry in and get my homework done so that I don't have to face it later!

Philly, if you were looking for lighthouses, then I have a lighthouse for you! My favorite one is the Hatteras Light in NC. Been there? BTW, the Chesapeake Bay lighthouses are NOT very impressive.... lived around here all my life! Thomas Point is my fav; however, I'm sorta thinking that it is Maryland now that I'm thinking of it! You should pick up a cd of JB's! You will be amazed at how wonderful it sounds without the popping of the vinyl!

heading off to do my school work........yipeeeeee!
    take care,
    meeeee
  • Mermaid: I do want to see Hatteras someday, but since I don't fly, and hubby doesn't really like to drive as much as he used to, we haven't gotten that far yet. Last summer we did four in one trip: the Assateague LH, Old Point Comfort (and oh, geez, how I'd like to live on Fort Monroe in one of those old houses!), and Old and New Cape Henry. Almost got my husband arrested when I sent him out of the truck to take a picture of the gate at the Cape Henry Fort! I had snapped a pic of the guardhouse as we left on the sly, and he was so freaked when the soldier told him he couldn't take a pic of the gate, that he was convinced they were following us down the road and made me delete the pic of the guardhouse! A lot of the Chesapeake LHs are out in the water, too far to see, some are small and some are those skeleton ones. I did check the Lighthouse site and found out what they looked like first, and that's why we picked the ones we did. We stayed in Chincoteague and loved it there. May go back this year. Thomas Point is also on my list, it IS in Maryland, outside of Annapolis. And, hey, I'm old -- I LIKE the popping of the vinyl.

Ginger: We got about 2-3 inches in my part of the city, which is within viewing distance of the suburban border, and we generally get a little more than the rest of the city. It's still here, but everyday it melts a little and then freezes up at night. I love snow, this wasn't near enough for me, but it's better than nothing. When we had the 3-foot '96 blizzard, I went out in my bare feet with no coat on and THREW myself into it! I waited my whole life for that blizzard!

    Well, greetings to all.
