  • I think working out is all about where I will be the most comfortable and the most motivated....i.e. the place I'm most likely to stick with it. For me, I'm more motivated at the gym. Especially in a class setting. I'm more likely to push a little bit harder if other people are watching. But, everyone finds their own place where they're the most comfortable and the most motivated - and that's the key!
  • ^I'm with you. I have to renew my membership, but my "gym" is very large and is always packed. This serves as motivation to me. If I feel like, "Oh, I'm just gonna do 30 min instead of an hour" then I look at a girl with a body that I admire. I'm then pushed to do the original hour plus 15 min more. Cute guys are a major motivation for me too.

And the "regulars" who notice my improvement always come up to me to say encouraging things. I value their social support.
  • I my women's gym...but if I don't get there by 4...it's hecka crowded.

But I think calahan said it best. It's ALL about making a habit of exercising. Where ever you can make that happen.

Oh and the plop factor....that's fantastic!
  • I just wanted to add people may be staring because they are admiring you, cheering you on in their own head. Also I've gotten hit on at the gym a few times, the oddest place. I'm all sweaty and what not. It's nice though.
