How was the surgery? was it painful? how was your recovery?

COngratulations to you, your new baby, your new life

My surgery was good. The pain wasn't as bad as I'd expected it to be. I had more pain after the surgery I had to repair my broken fibula (lower leg) & ankle in 2001 and even my c-section hurt more. My recovery was pretty standard. I was fatigued for the first 2 weeks and then got more and more energy. I was off of work for 4 weeks and that last week I was bouncing off the walls at home...I couldn't wait to go back to work.

Quote: Boy! You said it! You don't look like the same person.

How wonderful that you have a baby girl and that you did something wonderful for yourself before you got her. How much weight did you gain with her and was it hard to lose afterwards given your surgery?
I gained 30lbs with my pregnancy and so far I've been able to loose all but 7ish pounds. The first 16 lbs came off very quickly...within the first 9 days. But then it's been slow loosing since then. But I've not been exactly strict with my eating and was taking in more carbs than protein. And since I'm not only post op RNY but also have PCOS...protein is key to my diet and I was slacking. But I'm determined to loose those last 7 pounds by my 3 year surgiversary on 8/3.

Quote: Wow thanks so much for sharing..You are my height, and are exactly at my goal weight! You look fabulous, so that really inspires me. I was scared I was setting my goal weight too high, but it looks great on you!
Thank you! I wish you all the luck in the world to get to your goal weight. My actual goal weight is 130...but without the aid of plastic surgery (I have a lot of excess abdominal skin...that you can't tell because I wear a girdle) I don't think I'll reach it. But that's my dream goal...right now I just want to loose these last 7ish lbs and get back to my surgeons goal weight for me of 140. Never give up!

  • Kristy, I would swear I remember you either from soul cysters or FF. Did you post at either place? I have PCOS as well and now a beautiful 15 month old daughter. It is nice to see someone else with PCOS have success. Since I have never been thin in my adult life, I wonder if your PCOS symptoms have started to go away? The PCOS and weight problems seem to cause one another, you know? I hope to try for another child once I lose some more weight, hopefully this time without metformin and clomid.

You look beautiful, by the way. I am so happy things have worked out so well for you!

  • Thanks Karina...Yes...I've posted both on FF & SC. My PCOS symptoms got MUCH better when the weight went away, but I think they are coming back. I'm not sure about the cycle part of it since I have the Mirena IUD & cycles tend to go away with that, but I think my IR is coming back. I've had the hardest time loosing the rest of my baby weight & my elbows are starting to darken a little again. So yesterday I saw my doc & he wrote up a lab slip to check my fasting insulin levels. He agreed with me that with the number of calories I'm taking in (average 950-1100) that I should be loosing weight (at least slowly) but I'm not. So we'll see what my results are....

    Congrats on your daughter!
  • Congratulations on the birth of your baby daughter and secondly on the weight loss. You look fabulous.
  • You must be so happy; everything has fallen into place! Congratulations!
  • Amazing!!!
    Great Job!
  • Thanks! Well...my lab results were normal...now I guess I need to tweek my diet a little more than I thought.
  • You look so great. You have given me new inspiration.

  • Kristy, wow!!! God bless you and that beautiful baby!!!
  • Thanks! These kind of things really come in handy on a day like today when I'm having a total fat day...

    Kristy
  • Wow a BIG congrads!! You look amazing!!!! I hope to one day look that good
  • Thanks! I found what was keeping me from loosing my post partum weight...it was that I was actually taking in too few calories! So after adding some calories for a few days & then cutting back for a few I'm now at my lowest post partum weight of 144.7! WOOHOO

    xDas7x - Don't give up...you'll get there!!
