How do you determine your goal weight?

  • I've been considering readjusting my goal weight. I picked 130 because it would put me at a healthy BMI and when I weighed 155, losing 25 pounds seemed reasonable.

I think I'm going to shoot for somewhere between 120 and 125 instead...but I'm waiting to get to 130 (and hold there a while) before making that decision. Now that I'm heading back to the gym, I'm trying not to get too hung up on numbers...

Kara, you ask the best questions!
  • Quote: Well, anyone with PCOS will understand my frustration but I'll just be happy to get to 165. Once I got down to 170 while DH was deployed but I was also on Glucophage and I really want to avoid taking it again.

    Thanks for that, FL mom!
I've had PCOS since 1983. I'm now 50 years old.
You helped me realize that my goal of 130 is totally unrealistic.
I'm changing my goal to 150.
If I can be healthier and feel good and look good, who the **** cares about a number?
  • I am glad I could help someone out. I KNOW I will never get down to the 130's, I haven't been that light since I was a (young) teen. I was 150 when I got married and if I ever reach that weight again, I would probably faint. I haven't started SB yet (waiting for a grocery trip) but I lost 2lbs this week! I am so excited to be doing this without having to be on medication.
  • I talked to my doctor and because I have a broad frame and a dense bone structure she advised that it would not be healthy for my to weight less that 165-155. That is a big range but I figure I'll reach my goal, see how I fdeel, talk to my doc again and figure out what the next step is.
