why are you jealous of winter Elizabeth? you don't like heat? have to admit we have fairly mild winters. don't think it ever goes below freezing but i'm not a person that likes cold

ok LOVED Harry Potter 1 and now just itching to get back on the treadmill to start the second one! I had no idea how good these movies were lol I am a HUGE Lord of the Ring fan but have had the Harry Potters for over 2 months ( bought them for Jonathan; my 6 year old) and haven't watched them, now I am hooked!

I use movies I absolutely love to keep me on the treadmill or movies i haven't seen yet of course. Only allow myself to watch that movie ON the treadmill until I have watched it all the way beginning to end. The last one I watched was Coyote Ugly (LOOOOVE that movie). If I am way into the movie I just walk until my legs can't take anymore at a steady speed of 3-4mph going up and down whenever i want to I walked a whole movie once for a total of about 5 miles. I stopped reading on the treadmill after I got so into the story that I "forgot" to step hehe and flew off the treadmill into the weight bench. I get WAYYY too into books lol!

OK good eating day today, a snack was calling my name (no not the Devil) but a good snack none the less that is 300 calories and I checked and saw I had the cals to allow for it so I did it and felt fine about it

Having trouble with water intake today for some reason, the stuff just ain't wanting to "get in my belly" LOL...OK I watch wayyy too much TV (Austin Powers movie for those who are lost right now)

Ok I have babbled enough, I am just waiting for my babysitting charge's mom to get home so I can watch some of the Second Harry Potter. Already did 2.5 miles today Hehe another couple shouldn't hurt...I HOPE

Off to make dinner.. I have 920 calories today as of right now so I should be able to make something without stressing too bad over the cals going over my limit

and for those of you lacking treadmill motivation, get a portable DVD player with plug in power possibility, a set of headphones and any movie. install a small shelf at eye level (when standing on treadmill) and turn the treadmill toward that shelf and walk your way through a movie. I LOVEEEE it but then again I am a total movie freak

now that's something i would do. actually i have never mastered the dreadmill. i find it incredibly boring and i'd rather walk outside and go somewhere and see things. plus i find when i get off i feel a bit dizzy . and i have fallen off the back of a dreadmill not going fast enough or getting tired. horrid things. i'm ok with rowing machines but only short term

My TV is definitely on its last legs . It is hard to watch some days but I am still waiting for the LCD tvs to come down in price as the place I want to put the TV is narrow and won’t fit an ordinary tv. i have to go shopping, buy a new tv, get it all tuned and sort out the video and dvd and get back into my exercise videos. i have some taebo videos i have never used and i mean they are OLD. like 5 yrs or maybe more. i tried one of the videos and i was sore for like a week after so i never did it again. ditto my marie winsor pilates. i bought them. took a look and boxed them back up again unplayed

i do like my dancing tho and i have to get back into putting some music on and letting myself go. had a bad back for about 3 weeks so it was too painful. also i was practising for my exams. last weekend i sat my bronze medal latin and ballroom so i just did the same dances over and over and i confess i got bored there's that word again. i am easily bored. is a problem with food too. i'm on my own and if i buy food i rarely want to eat it 2 nights in a row. some stuff can be frozen but most is wasted or given to the pets

Just a short Hello!

I was binge free the last days! And today I am totally tired....but thatīs ok, because I NOW HAVE MY FIRST OFFICAL SEMESTER BREAK HOLIDAYS EVER

I am planning to watch a lot of silly dumb TV shows this afternoon/ evening and go to bed early (had to get up at 4.30 today).

The weather is killing me. More than 95 F here- could someone please turn the huge outside AC on? Thanks.

Hope everyone is having a nice day!

Hi Everybody!

I'm just returning from the confessional----AKA cyber purgers thread. I was binge-free for about a month prior to going a little "nuts", so I'm happy with that. Nah, I'm THRILLED with that!

It is one more reminder to myself. My binge-beast may be quiet and may hide. But he is still there! Still waiting for an opportunity to escape his cage and wreck havoc on my good intentions! Sure, he may escape. But I can and WILL capture and cage that monster again! WOOHOO!

Kate~Congrats on being binge-free!!!!! YAY you! I'm so glad that you FINALLY get a break! You really deserve it after all of your hard work! I hope you have a restful and fun break!

sweetpea~Winter sounds quite delightful when the heat index is about 110 degrees! I prefer winter because I can wear lots of clothes and feel somewhat comfy in cooler temps. When it gets hot, I can only take off so many clothes and still NOT be comfy.

I've gotta admit that I am insanely jealous of your gorgeous pets as well as your good temperature! My DH caught me looking at your adorable pictures and said, "oh NO, not more pet porn!" I'm sorry to hear your poochie was injured! It broke my heart, whenever my doggie was hurt.

I'm still waiting for the LCDs to come down in price also! I've got some OLD tvs! One of them has a big blob of pink in the upper corner. I don't even notice it, unless someone comes over and comments on it! I guess it's like gaining weight. Something so obvious to everyone else, that I can easily block out.

Lealee~YAY you! You are my dreadmill HERO
I'm very impressed with the miles you're doing! Are you keeping track of the miles you do?
I don't have a portable DVD player but may look into getting one because it sounds like a great way to make the miles pass! I love movies also! Congrats on being in control with your eating!
You CAN do this! WOOHOO!

Hello and to lurkers! I hope you will join us here and post your successes!

my motivation is returning as i have some ideas about promoting myself and my books etc etc

having said that i ate almost an entire packet of XX and a big bag of XX yday. tsk tsk

beautiful sunny day here so i am off outside to have breakfast and read a book and think about my plans for global domination

elizabeth a whole month BF wow wow wow. you're right 1 day of bingeing is just a temporary blip. those beautiful animals you admired rolled in something disgusting this morning. i am just filling a trough and then i'm throwing them in to wallow in the water and get clean. darn animals.

i also have a tame hedgehog that comes by at about 4pm each day on its rounds. i give it a bit of food from time to time.

ooooh kate i like tv too. love all the comedies. do you get the david e kelly shows there? like boston legal. that's hilarious

my tv is 15 yrs old. maybe more. took it with me when i divorced all those years ago so i've had good use out of it. however i want LCD and i want a BIG one lol. i've set my sights on having a huge one as i like my tv. but they are very expensive and i suspect a LOT more expensive here than in the states. the 32" start at $3000 for a decent brand. some of them aren't very good in which case you may as well buy an ordinary tv for a fraction of the price.

tv prices are definitely coming down. i think they will come down 20% in the next couple of mths. i've borrowed a tiny tv to use in the meantime but i hanker after a nice big tv

Hi everybody!

Juchu, first holiday day today....I am bored! I realized yesterday that I am just able to watch a certain amount of stupid TV....Now I am looking for a new challenge.
Unfortunately itīs to hot to sit outside. I waited so many weeks to sit in the sun and read, and when I have free time, itīs the hottest day of the year!

Oh, I was binge free yesterday!

And I am thinking about that world moving questions: Does your body store more water when the weather is so incredible hot? And why do I look so puffy?

Anyway.....

Hope everybody is having a great and binge free day!

Kate

Kate
I find this to be true, although I don't have anything scientific to back me up. I get really puffy when I stay out in the heat too long. It makes sense, but I'm not sure if it's actually a valid phenomenon.

I LOVE that Georgia O'Keefe quote ~ I can totally relate. I love her paintings too.

OK still binge free here but slipped a bit yesterday. I made some southern veggies with dinner (the kind you gotta fry) and I could resist them NO longer! I had to have my own home cooked food this time and NOT think about what was going into my body just this once. I did good though. I ate enough but didn't get stuffed. Then went somewhere and ordered a SMALL dessert instead of the normal Large I would have gotten and THEN I shared it with both my kids.

Did 3 and a half miles on the treadmill so day 5 down with walking 3-5 miles a day that makes me happy

OK question now for you all. I keep my calories at about 1300 average. Since I upped my workouts I am CONSTANTLY hungry. Not munchie but stomach growling, food craving hungry. Should I add a couple hundred to my average since I am burning so much now? I don't want my body into starvation mode.

I don't know if it will throw you into the dreaded "starvation mode," but I know when I intensely work out, I get that stomach growling hunger too, and I have to eat. The few extra hundred calories have no affect on my loss either. If I have a vigorous workout and I eat a lot, I usually always post a loss the next day. And I know this: when I eat too little on a day where I exercise a lot, I will not lose a darn thing.

leelee its possible your body needs more food. if you're having enough water then you need those extra calories

harpo/kate - i don't get bloated in the heat. makes no sense at all as you would be sweating all the fluids out of your system!

diet going really crap here. i find the afternoons and evenings the worse. i seem to crack anytime between 4-10pm

well still eating merrily. and drinking

Jasmine 1 : slippers 0

Wretched animal! Those slippers were only 10 days old and I splashed out for ugg boot style slippers that had sheepskin lining. Grrrrrrrr. The other slipper is of course useless.

I took the dogs for a short walk today. it wasn’t enjoyable. Jasmine sounded like she was being strangled – which probably isn’t too far from the truth. She pulled so hard all you could hear was her rasping deep breathing. Anyway they seemed to enjoy it and it’s exercise for me and a chance to breathe in lovely petrol fumes. Nothing quite like it

back to the food and drink

Hi everybody!

We have a real, real hot summer here in Germany. Itīs so hot here, even I ran around in a top and shorts (bought some yesterday )

But I am binge free- could be because I am not so hungry because of the heat. Or maybe my binge beast is on vacation. You know, a binge beast is for me per se a furry creature. Poor honey, must be awful in that heat

Harpo: Ok, I did some Google research about magic weight gain and heat...There are hundreds (or thousand) of results. A lot of people expierence that. I havenīt found a real scientific reason for it, but i keep looking. I read somewhere that it depends on the things you drink- if they have a lot of sodium or not.
And itīs not only the heat, I calculated that there are just a week to go until TOM. Juchu.

Hope everyone is having a nice day!

Kate
