New to the board, but have enjoyed reading the posts since I am in the same boat was 318 now 309. I have a question about body fat for any one that is measuring how are you doing it? I have a monitor at home but that number is drastically different from the number I get when I plug in my measurements into sites like the navy site that calculates body fat, any suggestions?

Nancy, don't mention the 'o' ring word, lol, I am addicted to them!!!!! BUT not had any for ages, not even this year as once I start I have too cook them all & eat them!!! Sorry about your guy, men can be so thoughtlesss at times, if I were in your situation I would be reaching for some of the 'o' word things & lots of other stuff too, after going through that sort of stress congratulate yourself on your control, you really are doing well.
Ammi, I will look for you on msn.
Brenda, good for you helping to raise all that money & treating yourself to the curves voucher, wish I could go but there's no one to look after our boys, go for it!!!
I treated myself to a 'fat cat' money box, for each pound lost since January I will put a pound coin in the 'kitty', I WILL NOT gain, I don't want to raid my 'kitty'. I hope it works. As we are off to my parents tomorrow I will not be able to post until Monday pm or even Tuesday, so I hope you all have a lovely week-end and stay healthy.

Good Afternoon All,

I have had a productive afternoon, I have done some cleaning, sorted out a cupboard and I have prepared the potatoes for the evening meal. Now I can sit here guilt free and type this. I don't know if it's the being back on track, or my new meds, but I am definitely spending less time in bed these last few days and it feels GOOD

I am not ashamed to say that I am one of the people who always wonder if they are fatter than the next fat person in a room and being glad if I'm not, although these days I always am that biggest person. When I do become the smaller person I won't be happy that the other person is fat, I will feel sad that they are in the same boat I was, but I will be glad for me, because I will have finally got myself to a smaller size. Actually one of the things that also crosses my mind when I see a person as big as me, and that is to wonder if she would like a weight loss buddy. But how do you approach somebody with the offer lol, especially if they don't see themselves as that big and you insult them. I would dearly love to be able to lose all the weight I need to, and then start a group to help others get to goal too a FREE one. First things first though, let me actually stick to a diet myself and lose the weight

Kayley - I hope your counseling session goes well. I should be seeing my counselor again soon, she's been ill, then away on holiday, but she is back this week, so I am guessing I will get an appt any day now. It's weird but I am supposed to be telling my counselor everything, yet I have never once cried in front of her. Yet talking to my doctor on Monday had me in tears. I think she should be the counselor. Anyway I digressed, good luck with your meeting.

Sounds like you really aren't keen on getting a job in the gas station. Hey but there should be one good thing, won't you get a staff discount on gas? I gather from MariaLucia that prices are going up, so to get a discount would come in really handy.

Nancy - that's good that you maintained your weight, that's better than a gain! It's also great that your body fat has gone lower. I haven't even bothered to work out what mine is. I just want to see those lbs come off.

That's a bit of a mystery about your BF. Do you think perhaps that he's just being spiteful, not phoning even though he knows you will worry. He might see it as you are losing weight when he doesn't want you to, so he's not going to phone you because he knows that's what you want him to do? Of course I could be totally wrong, but from what you say, it's not something he would usually do. I hope he pulls himself together whatever the problem is and show you some thought by ringing in future if he has to pull an all nighter.

Brenda - you know one of the best things about when you go off track on your diet? It's that when you finally get things back on track you are on such a high and determined to succeed. I am feeling like that too, perhaps not on the high, but definitely feeling like I am back with a vengence!

It sounds like you have a great plan, knowing what you want to lose and by when, and also you are prepared to reward yourself which sounds like a great idea. I bet you will be down that 50 lbs by September, you are going full steam ahead!

That's great that so much money was raised with the silent auction. Good too that you got those Curves vouchers. I like the sound of the exercise program, can't say I am too keen on wanting to try the diet though. Not that I can do either as we don't have Curves over here. Not yet anyway. I hope you will really enjoy it there though and I look forward to hearing all about it. Between Curves and swimming when you have lost that first 15 lbs I can just see the lbs dropping off you

Yorubaprincess1 - boy I can't wait to learn your real name so I can use it instead of your looooong nick name lol. Anyway to the board, happy to have you here. Sorry I can't help you with the body fat question, I have never worked mine out. I hope somebody will be able to answer you though.

Patti - I think it's human nature to compare ourselves to others, it could be hair, or attractiveness, or in our case more often than not, our size. I am sure they are doing the same thing, either wishing they weren't bigger than us, or in my case, they would be thinking they are glad they aren't as big as me. It doesn't offend me, because I do the same thing. It doesn't make us bad or mean people, at least I don't think so.

Were you meant to weigh in today, or do you just like a daily weigh? Either way I am sure that 1 lb up won't be long in coming back off. Do you eat the salted popcorn? You might find water retention because of it is why you had a gain.

Crock - I hope you enjoy your time with your nephew today. You won't need to do any work outs today, the whole visit with your nephew will be one lol.

Sharon - that fat cat money box sounds a great idea, I might do the same, although there will be nothing in it for a while I bet. No, that's bad, must be positive, so I might have a £ or two in there next week

I am going to turn on my messengers now and see who is around for a chat. Take care all and bye for now,

Hugs,

Ammi

Good morning all,

Julee: Hey girl, down is down! Congrats on being down at all.

Luan: Hi. Good for you almost getting to -15. Your almost there!

Sharon: LOL. Aren't parents funny about what bugs them. My grandma was so giving to me and would give me anything including money but man she was thrifty. I had a bowl of cereal at her house one day and the milk was sour. I went to dump the whole thing and she said that the cereal was still good and tried to drain the miilk. Granted she was in her 90's at the time but I told her no way I was eating those same cheerios. LOL. Have fun at your foks house.

Ammi: HI and good morning to you.

Kayley: I think that couseling will really help you. Hopefully it will be helping me too. No matter how good I do, It is never good enough for me. We will get through these issues. It takes time.

Nancy: Sorry you are having boyfriend troubles. I know how you feel. I would be so worried about my boyfriend or hubby in my case if he didn't call. Then when I knew he was ok, I would want to kill him. Hang in there. Maybe you guys need to sit down and talk. Congrats on your body fat % going down! That is wonderful.

Brenda: Congrats on a great buy. Have fun at Curves. I think that we can all relate to feeling happy at not being the biggest in the room or the family or whatever the case may be. I confess that I have felt that way then I feel ashamed at feeling that way. We of course should never be happy that someone else is unhealthy and probably not very happy to be bigger than we are. Don't worry, we all have been there.

Yorubaprincess: Welcome. Sorry I can't help you with your question. I don't have a clue how they work.

Crock: Have fun with your nephew!

Everyone else, have a great day and be blessed,
Dogpal

Don't get me wrong... -.6 is fine and dandy. The last 2 weeks have been about eating. Passover was crazy and then my mom came into town and we ate out twice a day some days. I have been working out and trying to stay good...no realllly bad indulgences, but everything counts. I'm not upset in the least. I feel very in control and am content today to make the progress that I am. Would I love to be down another 10 lbs by the engagement party in Florida in June? **** yeah...but what will be will be and that's all I know.

Off for another day. The sky is gray and it's cooling off again. Will it rain...maybe...maybe not. I don't like the schizo weather.

Julee – I have heard that Jekyll Island is amazing – I had a friend in Atlanta that used to vacation there all the time. Hope your back is feeling better. Do you ever go to a chiropractor? Congrats on hitting 90 pounds lost!

Maria Lucia – First off, congrats on the loss! The dance class sounds really cool. I would definitely check it out. You can always leave if you don’t like it.

You asked about strength exercises. For now, I mostly follow the exercises in a tape with Susan Powter called Building Strength. I really like it because she gears her tapes towards all sizes. My trainer has me do other stuff. A lot of times he will use bands and have me pull in different directions such as across my chest at elbow height, from the back straight in front or from the right to up and to the left. We also do some about of work on the stability ball, which is great. If you try and sit with your feel close together and then try other things like raising one leg – it is much more difficult than I would have imagined. I have some more detailed info that I will email to you when I get home tonight.

Oh – and you MUST check out this website: http://www.stumptuous.com/cms/index.php. Mistress Krista is the coolest!

Kayley – Sorry to hear about the job. I hope you find something soon. I hope your counselling session goes well. I have been seriously thinking about going back to someone I used to see many years ago. The only problem is that she isn't that close and only has day hours, so I would have to get off of work.

Sharon – The weird thing was that the “o” things weren’t anywhere as good as I had remembered them. They seemed too greasy. In some ways I think it is good to indulge in things off plan because now I won’t crave them half as much as I did before.

Ammi – on the strap thing, that is why I have a mini-backpack instead of a regular purse. I can put it on and not worry about it. I don’t like having uneven weight on my shoulders if possible. I think that is partly from my mild case of scoliosis. With regard to my boyfriend not calling, I don’t think it is anything other than forgetfulness – however, I really don’t want to be so easily forgotten. In a way I am glad because it will open the door to us having a little talk tonight – if he’s not too busy working, that is.

Brenda – Glad to hear you are feeling back on track. That is great news that you raised so much for charity.

Yorubaprincess1 – I love gadgets so I actually went out and bought one of these:
http://www.omronhealthcare.com/enTou...gory?catgId=35
You have to input your stats and then you hold it and it sends an electric current through your body to determine your % body fat. Besides immersion tests, which are very expensive unless you can find a university near you doing them, it is one of the more accurate measures. I got mine from Amazon for about 30 bucks.

Patti – Yeah, that salt can really get you. I try to avoid it but I eat too many packaged foods. I also have a thing for spicy ramen noodles – empty calories loaded with salt, but occasionally I have to have them.

My BF finally called me around noon and apologized. I told him I was not happy about the whole thing. He said he just got so caught up in work that he forgot. Actually I am glad in a way, because this will provide a window to talk about some of my other issues. I think he feels like everything is fine, while I am really starting to wonder. I found myself looking at apartments on Craig's list. Not that I am ready for that yet, but it is good to know what my options are.

Dogpal~ I would love your company on a good fishing adventure, I wll be fishin full steam ahead next Month, as May is spawning for Bass, so the catchen will be unreal, I use Kelley Worms for that, I find that Bass are the most fun to catch, they fight like it is a 10lber, but most of the time 3 is big,,LOL.. but I have fun,,, and My overactive imagination doesnt help much, untill I get to see what the **** it is I am realing in..

PrincessPuffyPants~ Girl you need to catch a minute and give me a story or two to read, I am missing your posts.. Good to see you are still thinking about us..

Ammi~ I am so HAPPY you are more active, and not sleeping, perhaps the meds are working, or the others really were not good for you, OR both,,, good going on you WW plan,, Stick to it girl! I want you to put me in a panic and boost me, when you start losing, and start catching up.. I will be paying CLOSE Attention... LOL

Nancy~ Well with the BF matter,, "I" would give him such a dose of his own medicine,, go out for an evening,,and dont tell him about it, and I would consistently do it untill he made a comment.. Reversed Psychology and Men are very fun,, I hope all works out well for this matter..

Brenda~ I can so see a different attitude with you and your change, You are gonna do well and succeed with this new life change.. I am here anytime..

As for me,,, Well Nephew is gone, and I do not take a nap during the day at all, but I feel that one is needed, TODAY, I have been with him for two days,, He wanted me to come with him, when Kim came to get him, I am sure I will be going to see him this evening,, he calls me NONNIE>. he is a ham, I tell ya.... I could spend everyday with him,, if I go 3 days I miss him... but I am the cool Aunt Nonnie, I play his game boy with him , I am in the floor wrestling with him ,, just what ever, I go to his level,, and he loves it. Well that is about it for today, so far, I normally dont do individuals. so. this will be few and far between , I try to keep up as it is posted,, I am OP today and doing fine, need to down some water though,, I had some Brown Beans,, gots a lot of sodium,,,,, Take Care All..

Luan - There is a really moving article in the NYTimes by Tom Hanks about his make-up artist. Thought you might enjoy it. Here is the link:
http://www.nytimes.com/2006/04/27/fa...es/27skin.html

Crock - The problem is, if I stay out all night, where will I go? I certainly don't want to stay at work all night!

Good Evening All,

I had a lovely meal tonight, low fat sausages, beans and mashed potato. Makes a nice change from vegetables.

Patti - I love popcorn and recently found small packets made by Snackajack. They are half a point (WW) and there's not too much in there. Just enough to please and not leave me wanting more.

Julee - I think you will lose those 10 lbs by June. Are all the holidays that involve eating gone now? That is bound to help!

Nancy - I really should get my mind out of the gutter lol, when you mentioned Mistress Krista I thought she was going to be some dominatrix or something lol. Though why I thought you would be giving MariaLucia a link for that I don't know, duh, Anyway of course I had to go look, terrible girl that I am lol. I definitely wasn't expecting a weight lifting site

As for the bags I am too worried to use a back pack type bag. First of all I find it awkward putting them on and off. But secondly I worry that if I am standing in a queue or something somebody might be able to get something out of my bag too easily. What I really really want is to not have big boobs so that I can wear a shoulder strap bag but have it crossing my body, NO chance of it falling off then.

I am glad your BF just forgot to call rather than doing it out of spite. It's good that he has apologised too. I hope that your 'talk' with him later isn't too bad and that it doesn't turn into an argument.

Crock - I don't think there is much chance of me catching up on you when it comes to the weight loss lol. Even when I was having no problem dieting I still only lost 1 lb a week. It is good to be back in the right direction though, am just looking forward to weighing on Monday to see if I have lost anything this week.

Glad you had such a lovely time with your nephew, I love how he calls you Nonnie

Annie - a big hello to you too

Got to go now, it's that time again, shower and then watch Bones. Can you tell I love my investigative crime shows

Hugs,

Ammi
