I staved off most of the symptoms of my last head cold with Mucinex. It gets rid of the stuffiness. I still had a little ache and fever my did not run through Kleenex and wear my nose and throat raw. It's worth a try.

Do you feel "mothered" with all this cold care advice?

I am really wondering if I don't just have the flu or something more than a head cold. My body aches and I am so tired feeling, my throat is raw, head hurts, eyes hurt, nasal congestion and some cough. I do not have a taste for anything and in fact I am forcing myself to eat a bowl of grits right now. I am childless tonight so I am going to get plenty of rest and do nothing at all.
