I have not gained weight on medication before but i do have a question, what did your doctors say, that it was normal? I agree with your doctor flipsyde that your therapist should have taken you off of that immediately. Good luck ladies, its hard enough dealing with weight without meds adding to the struggle

weight gain is common on many AD. it's also a common symptom of depression... most doctors tend to think that being mentally healthy is more important than weight and that once your mood stabilises that you will be able to cope well enough to lose the weight

i have to say 90% of docs are totally lacking empathy on the weight side of things. that's just my experience but they say stupid things like weight gain is a common side effect so make sure you don't eat too much. i mean really! if it ws that simple we'd all be slim

sleep is a major problem for me. non refreshing sleep. and i either sleep forever or i sleep an hour or 2 at a time. last night the most horrific nightmares. altho i am wondering if the klonopin is responsible for that. first time i have taken it in a few weeks
I take klonopin on order to have any sleep. I've been on it, along with a cocktail of other anti-depressants or pain blockers for about 5 years. Right now, I'm only taking klonopin and it isn't having any effect on my weight, and no nightmares. The only time I had nighmares- which were really more hallucinations- was while taking ambien, and also when trying to "naturally medicated" with melatonin. The nightmares I had after taking that for about 6 weeks were unbelievable.

I have fibromyalgia and don't sleep. Supposedly, the AD's helped my sleep, but the only one on which I was able to lose weight was serzone. It was taken off the market last year

Best of luck

Mel

lessthansign3: Take B12 and Iron vitamins...someone I know is into homeopathy and suggested I do this instead of drinking caffeine because it is a known diet-wrecker. About a week after I started taking it I was noticably more alert and didn't get sluggish around 3pm like I normally do...I hope this works for you

i find klonopin a big help for sleep or at least it has been in the past. i think the effexor withdrawal may have been interfering??? i was so scared by the nightmare that i couldn't even speak. my throat was totally constricted and painful and i turned the lights on

hopefully a one off event. i do have a tendency to nightmares tho and even when i don't have nightmares i dream frequently

i know what all of your are saying. i have been on AD since the birth of my daughter 4 years ago. i weigh more now than when she was born. i started off on effexor, moved to lexapro, then to wellibutrin and cymbalta mix. still no weight loss. i broke a leg about a year ago and that didn't help anything. i am afraid for my health....didn't know where else to go to find other women like me...i am glad you guys are here. i am ready for something...............
