LOL! I'm sorry for laughing, but as someone who's had bad experiences with being set up with gamers in the past I have to say that you made the right decision I consider myself as pretty geeky, but that's too much, even for me!

If I were you I'd send him an email though and be as direct as possible. I once refused to respond to a guy and he emailed me for over a year on and off, asking what had happened. I've found that most guys will keep asking until they get a response. Probably the best thing to do would be to tell him that you don't think you have the same interests, and that you don't think it would work out but you wish him luck. If he pushes again, just tell him bluntly that you're not into the gaming scene and that it would be a problem in a relationship for you. Be very direct, or you might have him confused and hurt and wondering what it was that he did, which usually means a ton of communication from him. Maybe he'll learn something from it.

Sorry you had such a bad experience, but there are nice guys out there. I found my DB 4 years ago from an online blind date setup and he's a normal, great guy.

I have a friend who has used several of them and have met some great guys, I am just too worried about doing something like that because there are so many weirdos out there! LOL!

Laurie:

My sister met her husband from an online match making service. You do have to be careful but it worked for her. And I know several others who found each other through these sites online. I'll ask her which one she used the next time I talk to her.

Yay!! I'm really glad you're giving it a shot

I actually met DB through AOL, just chatting. When I was a teen I met probably close to 20 people, all with friends, all in a group setting. A guy friend of mine and I would go online and chat with people, then when we found someone who seemed like they would be fun to hang out with we'd go and have coffee with them. A few of those meetups turned into strong friendships that are ongoing, even though I've moved across the country with DB. It was a great way to meet friends and like-minded people.

Meeting people online is really very similiar to meeting them IRL. Some people are dishonest and that can make for a bad meeting experience, but you also get to know about their interests and personality upfront, which is a really good thing (especially in this case, heh). Just make sure you email and give them at least one phone call before you meet up, and always do it in a highly public place or with friends. Trust your intuition and be very direct. It's not scary if you're smart.

I think match.com is a good choice, and I know people who have met their spouses there. It's a great site. I'm excited for you!
