Jane, I was getting a little concerned, because 3000 is a LOT of food. It doesn't seem like you've been eating that much, I'm glad you figured out a math error! Whew!!

On that note, I don't count calories. I refuse to do it, there is too much counting going on. Every thing you pick up off the grocery shelf, you're looking at carbs, subtracting fiber, figuring out protein/fat/carb ratios, etc. etc. etc. I give up! I try to eat clean, I mean real foods not carb-free snacks, diet sodas, etc. I eat until I'm satisfied and then when I get hungry, I do it again. And it's working for me. When I get into a stall, I cut back a little on the carbs, and it gets moving again. I have no idea what my calories are for any given day. I say, do what's been working for you. When it quits working, change it up a little.

Wish I could eat 3000 calories...what a pigout!

Anyhow, I noticed in the first few weeks of low carbing my calories were higher than normal. I think it is the "excitement" of finally being allowed to eat full fat versions of food, and just experimenting. I was getting concerned, but noticed at about week 4 that calories seemed to "settle" down, especially once ketosis appetite suppression came into effect.

I don't "count" calories, but I do monitor them as I am using Fitday so on any given day I can see how I"m doing. I generally eat around 1500-1700 cals, except on days I eat out and calories generally are higher (1900-2000?). There was a website I found, where I could check on calories needs in accordance with body measurements, and I think I am supposed to eat no less than 1200 cals...and not more than 1600 so I try to stay within that range.
