Oh I forgot to tell you that I got my haircut on my lunch. It is a few inches shorter and lots of inverted layers. I am not sure what that is but apparently it is good for my curly locks. I would scan a pic but lets face it I don't have a scanner and I haven't yet found a way to show you all my wedding pics so I won't make promises!

Congrats Becky on your loss..

Ohhh, Lynnie, was this your hubby or little boy with the hearing defecit? Either way, that couldn't be easy to hear.

Becky, I think we may be sporting the same haircut (except me with freakish waves here and there and no curls) from the way you describe it. Aren't we cute? I can really relate to what you say about using all your patience up at work and not having any left for your life. Occupational hazard, I guess. Hang in there...patience is like a muscle, the more we use it, the more we get.

Angie, I too need to work on gossiping. I don't really do it per say, but I have a lot of friends who do and just listening to it is just as bad as passing it on. I also tend to look at people in a different light after I hear the gossip...not a good thing to do. I'm impressed that you can still manage to be down .5 with having your treats...you must be doing things right!

Faith, I don't think we ever outgrow our childhood traumas (at least I never did). But you will learn to rise above it, I am confident of that. It sure seemed like you did everything possible to make that meeting yesterday in spite of it all -- I think the WI gods will smile down on you because of it.

Ok, better get moving to the doc's office.

Hey all... I've been busy today. We are getting a lot of rain, which is nice since we have been very dry for 2 months. Everything here is dead and we have drought conditions... I just hope my plants aren't all too dead and will still come back next year!!! So even tho I got drenched at lunch, I am not going to complain!

My husband is a fashion disaster... but then again, I am no queen bee. But I make due based on my location and money. Hubby lets me buy him things and he never complains, mostly because he knows he needs help.

OK, this message took me almost an hour to finish.... more later maybe.

Lynnie - sorry to hear about your husband. That's rough to deal with hearing problems. BUT way to go on the 2 lbs!!!! You've worked hard for it!

Jayne - I know what you mean about looking at people in a different light after hearing something about them. I prefer to make up my own opinions once you hear something about someone, it's automatically in the front of your mind.... it's definitely something to work on!

Jen - we're getting rain today too, it was gorgeous all week and now the rain... makes me want to stay inside and sleep all day long!

Becky - sooner or later we've got to see those pics! Don't you love getting your haircut, for the first few days, I always feel like the hottest thing around At least until I can't do it like the stylist does ... sigh...

Quick question (if anyone is still around) --
What does everyone use for motivation? I've had a red dress hanging outside my closet for a couple months that I was going to wear to a party. Well the party was last weekend and it fit perfectly but the motivation is gone now that the party's over! I need some more ideas or I'm going to end up shopping again.

Jayne-try this: www.busky.net
Good luck at the Dr's!

Star-I use clothes as motivation, I also have 'fat' and 'skinny' pictures of myself on the fridge...

Hi everyone! It looks like I missed all the fun today! I was at a conference on Virginia's Freedom of Information Act most of the day and it was booorrrring. I didn't learn anything I don't already know, and it irritated me because it was geared toward gov't officials and how careful they need to be because of the big bad media. I was like ... helloo ... the media is sitting right here ... I mean, I agree some records shouldn't be public, like juvenile records, some legal dealings, some criminal investigations, etc., but this country is based on open government and the public has a right to know what its leaders are doing!

Anyway, off my soapbox now, although I do want to apologize to everyone for yesterday ... about my comments about 9/11. I still think the media goes a little overboard, but I think I was a little too callous. I swore I wasn't going to watch at 9/11 specials last night, but I ended up stopped at one that was on HBO and I found myself sobbing. There was some footage of the planes I had never seen before and I felt like I had been punched in the gut.

So, anyway ... I'm sorry.

On some lighter news, I lost 2.4 lbs last night, for a total of 10.4! I'm below 190 ... yippee! Now if I can just lose another 10 before my friend's wedding Oct. 25. That'll put me at my own wedding weight ... just 10 months ago! But of course, if I pregnant in the next month, I won't be complaining.

Non-diet thing I'd want to change. I'd like to be a little more sure of myself in public situtions. Journalists (at least newspaper types) can sometimes tend to be introverts ... those of us who like looking at the world and writing about what we see, rather than inserting ourselves into the world. I'm assertive at home and with my family, but when I'm in a group of new people, especially, I don't stick myself out there as much. I force myself do to public speaking things for my job, but I'm always nervous beforehand.

Anyway, I'm sure everyone's already gone home for the day, and I'm heading out now, too. Have a wonderful weekend everyone!!

hello everyone. I have enjoyed reading the posts, especially the commercials. I have two. I don't know if the are national commercials or not, but one is a woman working at dairy queen and it is about getting a free sundae for triplets and it is a set of twin girls and a big older man trying to dress like them. The dairy queen worker is hilarious. The second one is for sonic (I think) or rallys and there are two cops in a cop car eating their cheeseburgers and the woman finishes hers and the man says, "You've already finished your cheesburger" and she says something like, "Yeah, maybe you can put yours in your purse and save it for later". I love it.
