Just finished the monday workout. It's been raining here so the trail was pretty wet. At least it cooled things down a bit!

Jamie- as far as tri training goes, make sure you get in a bit of everything each week. Also, be sure to get in some practice transitioning between biking and running, because getting off the bike to go run is a big change for your legs and you'll feel pretty stiff at first. Also, since your legs are really only going forwards and backwards for any of the tri sports, it's a good idea to cross-train with stuff that makes them go side to side a bit (i.e. swimming some breaststroke, taking a kickboxing class, playing soccer). Oh, and build up your triceps!

How's everyone doing? Since today is cross-training, I'm going to check out a kickboxing class at the gym. Hope I can keep up!

Being a holiday weekend and being out of town and on the road all day every day... I didn't get home until bed time and was shot!! I didn't get to do a thing yesterday unfortunately... So today I will start with Tuesday's plan and continue from there... Not a good start, but intend to keep it up for the rest of the time!!

Because of a busy weekend and week, I haven't started my 5k training yet. I plan on starting Tuesday. (I'll be traveling this weekend and will get back late Monday.) So... I'll be a little behind everyone else, but I'm still going to do it!

What plan is everyone else doing? Walk, Walk/Run or Run?

Default log week 1...again

I just wanted to start a little log for myself so I can track my progress

*Sept. 8th- 4:1 @ 4mph/6.5mph, 30minutes, 2.15miles
I started over today, and being sick really takes it out of you. But it was a great workout regardless and I was glad to get back into the gym...wierd

*Sept. 9th- hiked the hills for an hour, 3x12 squats, 3x12 pushups
burrrr, it is getting cold I could see my breath this morning. But I got to it and huffed and puffed up the hills.

*Sept. 10th- 3:2@ 4mph/6.5mph, 30 minutes, 2.17 miles
It kinda feels good to run for myself. Running was always used as punishment in volleyball so I of course hated it but now I feel kinda powerful!

*Sept. 11th- have not made it out of the house yet, having an internal struggle today= not working out vs. =getting my butt to the pool. Pool doesn't close till later, will procrastinate a little longer damn

*Later Sept. 11th- Yeah, finally beat that and made it to the pool. Swam for 45 minutes/1250 yards, treaded water 3.5 minutes

*Sept. 12th- Supposed to take today off, but I did saturdays workout since I will be gone this weekend.... go me! 3:2 @4mph/6.5mph, 30 minutes, 2.21 miles

So I overslept this morning and didn't get out. I have been really good about it up til now and I figure I will just work out on one of the rest days instead. Also, a friend of mine wants to start doing the program too, so now I have someone to go jogging with!

Default week 2 log

So, I'm working on week 2 of the 5K training and liking it. I swam a little last week and hope to start training for that portion of the tri. soon.

Sept.15th- haven't made it to the gym yet, think I will be taking an evening run! Well, it's 6:02 pm and I just made it back from the gym. There are few things that feel as good as a great treadmill beating, and with the day I had, I took everything out on that poor thing 3:2 @4mph/6.5mph, 2.6 miles, 35 minutes

Sept. 16th- Not a damn thing to report, took the day off.

Sept. 17th- bike ride and walked 40 min. as suggested by training plan.

Sept. 18th- promised to do some sort of weights.... trying to get to the gym, will report back later. Didn't make it to the gym....ahhh what is wrong with me, I am self sabotaging.... Onederland is sooo close and I'm scared to death.

Sept. 19th- 3:2@4mph/6.5mph/6.7mph, 2.55 miles, 35 minutes
Eliptical, Interval, 15 minutes

Sept. 20th-

OK. So, I'm a complete slacker. I haven't started this yet. I've practically lost all my motivation in terms of eating healthy and exercise -- it's really not good. But, I promise to myself and to you guys that at some point I will do this training. It sounds great, and it would be something to keep me motivated once I get motivated... if that makes any sense! Hope you are all doing well with the training!!

Default week 3 log

So I just realized that I messed up last week at some point so I am gonna have to skip a day off this week to get back on track. I am supposed to be walking for 1 minute and running for 4 minutes this week- but I missed the 2:3 days so I am trying to squeeze them in.

Sept. 22nd- 2:3, 3.5mph/6.5mph, 2.62 miles, 35 minutes
This is starting to get kinda tough because I am trying to keep my speed up, but I am doing really well I think. I feels good to be back in the gym, gonna make up for lost time last week! I found a great weights program quick and its 3 times a week so I'll start Tues.

Sept. 23rd- Damn football team took over the gym.... all 80 of them, no room for a GIRL So I will strap on my skates and rollerblade for a while and then go back later when the lame buttheads are no longer showing off of each other.

Sept. 24th- Walked, my knees are starting to feel all of this running.

Sept. 25th- Took the day off since today was busy....friday much slower, and I like to get a friday-pre going out workout in just in case.

Sept. 26th- Walked 4 miles, back to running tomorrow.

Sept. 27th-

Hi there 5kers! I have been super busy with school lately so I haven't had much time for posting. I only got in one day of running last week (week 4), so I am doing it over again. I wound up walking the other two days because first I had a cold and then the second day there were several trees and alot of debris on the trail, thanks to Isabel, so running would have been a bit difficult! I have been pretty good about exercising in general though, and yesterday I noticed I seem to be getting some muscle definition in my legs! Whoo-hoo!
