The price tag is scary indeed (at least you can claim it on your taxes!!) but what a phenomenal difference.
A few more questions, if I may.
How long between being 'done' losing weight and your surgery?
How has the recovery been?
Did you find that the scale dropped again post surgery? Or more directly, how much weight was that excess skin responsible for?

I was roughly 9-10 months at the same weight... I would go up a few pounds and then lose them... typical maintenance life. IDEALLY, I would love to be 140 -145 lbs but my surgeon made it very clear that I needed to be at a weight I could maintain easily. It jeopardizes the outcome of the results if you gain a bunch of weight after the surgery because you were at a weight that was too hard to maintain. On the flip side, he said that if I lost 10 - 15 lbs after surgery, he had not yet seen cases in his 25+ years where it worsened the results.
My recovery has been excellent. Not one complication thus far. (knock on wood) My surgery was 7 hours long and when I woke up, it was hard to believe it was over. I spent the first night at the surgical center and then my cousin picked me up the following morning to take me to her house where I stayed for 11 days. I flew home to my family at 12 days post-op. The first few days were rough but definitely doable... the hardest part was getting out of bed to use the bathroom. Ultimately, the months of waiting for my surgery date and the fear of the unknown were the worst of it all!
I am only 3 pounds lighter currently then what I was the morning of surgery. The skin was not weighed however, my doctor did guess it weighed between 8-10 lbs. I am still swollen though, so maybe the scale will go down some more in the weeks to come when it subsides. I have to figure my breast implant weight into the equation too... they are just over 2 lbs.

1. Did you see more than one plastic surgeon before making your decision?
2. How did you select him/her?
3. Did you consider a breast lift v. augmentation? If I decide to have PS, I'm trying to figure out which procedure would give the best results.

No, I only saw one surgeon. Beings that I live 1000 miles away from the big city where my surgery took place, I didn't have the luxury of being able to have numerous face to face consultations. I did do a TON of research and spoke to MANY clinics and patients. Ultimately, I chose my surgeon for his excellent reputation, his 25 + years of experience and the patient coordinators were awesome to deal with and were very quick to answer any of my questions (unlike a lot of the other clinics).
When my doctor viewed the photos I sent to him, he told me that he didn't think I needed a lift and that an implant would give me the results that I was looking for. At the end of July, I flew down to meet him and have my first consultation and he again said the same thing. They took all kinds of measurements and I only had slight breast pstosis (sagging). In his opinion, he didn't think a breast lift was necessary at this time and of course he was an advocate for the less scarring the better. That being said, I will one day have a lift done but in many, many years when I have to replace my current implants.

Dear Mom3, I want you to know how very much you have inspired me. You may remember seeing me on 3FC a while back... I had good success but didn't get anywhere near my goal. Anyway, after a long summer of flip flopping and soul searching I am back to the program and more inspired than ever. People like you and Wuv who share so openly with everyone here are very special. (My apologies if I have overlooked any of the others who have been so helpful) My plan now is to get my weight off, keep it off and go for the surgery. Thanks for sharing.
