Losing weight is really, really hard work sometimes. If it was easy, everyone who wanted to be thin would just be thin.

The thing is, being fat is hard work too. I don't need to enumerate all the ways in which it's hard - you already know them.

So, which hard work do you want to do?

Things like passing up treats at parties - those things get easier. Just try to remember that most eating opportunities are not a once-in-a-lifetime chances. So you choose not to eat some cookies or pizza at a party - big deal! It's just cookies or pizza, you have had those things before and you will have other chances to eat them. You have the power to say "eh, not today" without melting down into a puddle of self-pity because you decided not to eat a slice of cake.

You just have to work on developing some perspective. Do you want to get trim and healthy? If so, you have to put those treats into perspective and not gauge how much fun you are having at a gathering based upon how many treats you stuff into your mouth there. If so, you have to believe that spending a little time at the gym is worth it because getting trim is more important to you than whatever other thing you might spend that time doing.

You don't HAVE to do this hard work. You don't HAVE to exercise, or say no to treats at parties. But the price of not doing those things is staying fat. Everything in life is a trade-off. You know what being trim is worth to you - if it's worth it, you can find a way to do the hard work.

Linjber, I am also counting calories, I stay at or under 1500 a day and eat low carb and low fat, high fiber and high protien. I am actually getting ready to go try out a gym just a couple of miles from me. I have been eating healthy for 3 weeks now and have lost 10 pounds so I am pleased but I have to force myself to exercise because I just have no energy but I know I will feel better as a result.
