So glad I read this! I was about to buy the cleanse! My coach really pushes it on us. She even has a reminder on our file to buy the cleanse after 30 days OP. I was scared to take it since Im just getting over a stomach flu. Maybe I can use that as an excuse onto why I cant take it....lol.

This is good info thanks for posting!

I started the Novi cleanse last Monday and I think this is why I lost more weight this week. (2.2 pounds) I normally loose between 1 pound to 1 1/2 pounds per week. My coach thought this would get things started, so we will see. I am only doing it for 15 days, this is what she recomended. I already feel cleaned out and I am going to only take 1 a day of the Novi-Lax.

When I was with my coach, she did not recommend them at all. She said basically the same as everyone else above, if there is a constant issue with "C" then yes, by all means use it, otherwise it was unnecessary.

if you look at what's in NoviLax, there's nothing magical about it - first ingredient is psyillium, which you can get much cheaper in bulk.

Thanks so much for this thread! I am still a couple of weeks from potentially encountering this moment, so I am glad to know that an RN and another who has done some research have shared their knowledge! Thanks ladies!

I'd be interested in an explanation of what this cleanse is...not being impertinent here, just trying to learn. Thanks!
I have often thought this myself and I'm a nurse also. I take stool softeners and haven't had a constipation problem.

I have never had constipation until I started this diet; but I do now. Is there any natural way I can use to allieve this problem without taking something that becomes habit forming?

I was just about to post a response and say SCAM, SCAM! But Suzanne covered it much better! Save your money, drink more water and eat your veggies!

Dr. David Katz MD (google the guy, he's impressive!) says they are not only unnecessary but regular use can lead to malnutrition, anemia, and heart failure. (they can increase your electrolyte levels which is dangerous)

Dr. Oz agrees and explains that our bodies naturally cleanse themselves. If you need to take anything at all, it should just be choosing the right foods so you get at least 25g of fiber daily along with 8 glasses of water. Mother Nature does the rest. You may recall all of the so-called Dr. Oz colon cleansers on the market a while back. Dr Oz took them to court over that because he never recommended them.

Dr. Picco with the Mayo Clinic (he's a gastrointerologist) also says unnecessary and potentially dangerous. He also says the only reason anyone needs to clean out their colon ins in prep for a colonoscopy. So unless you do that on a regular basis, forget the cleanse

Colon cleansers and detox products have been one of the largest health and diet scams of the last few years. The kidneys also don't need a detox. They ARE a detox That's their job! along with a few other organs. Someone designed our bodies very well. These products are simply overpriced laxatives and diuretics. They are hard on the system, and can remove the good bacteria that are needed to keep everything balanced. They do not cleanse anything and they do not detox anything except for your wallets. That said, they are a huge seller by unscrupulous marketers because it's so easy to put a 'natural' spin on products and sell them for whatever they want. IP is in the wrong for doing this, as are other 'clinics' that push unnecessary supplements. It's all about $$$.

First, make sure you are drinking all of your water (at least 64oz a day) and eating all of your veggies. We need every bit of fiber from them.

You can use a fiber supplement (like Metamucil or a generic equivalent) or psyllium husks without worrying about it being habit forming. If you go for the Metamucil-type products, just make sure you use the sugar-free version to avoid any unwanted carbs.

Smooth Moves senna tea is also safe to use.
