I'm not in a great place at the moment but in the past I would wake up and run my hands over my hipbones and soak it up. Certain fitting room mirrors were great too in highlighting collar bones. Like fitness4life, I pinch my hip fat every morning to see how I'm doing.

fivestone, I'm looking at your picture and I see someone who is definitely "thin." Not "medium" or "average" or "curvy," but "thin." This coming from someone who has lived in Japan, the underweight capital of the developed world, for three years.

Well you certainly look thin and awesome! You are one of my many inspirations on this site . I saw some photos of you after your initial weight loss. You should post some more so we can truly see how far you've come.

Krampus: (Maaa, I still think your name is so cute. ) I definitely can relate to the hipbone thing. I think I might have a full-on panic attack if they ever disappeared.

Thanks. Sometimes I feel self-conscious, especially if a particular article of clothing isn't fitting as well as I'd hoped. I think I'm supposed to be able to wear /anything/ and have it look right, but logically I know that everybody's not built the same way.

MiniFluffy: Thanks!
I had been doing a sort of semi-maintenance thing a few pounds up from here, but between the stress of my husband falling suddenly ill/having surgery/being in the hospital, and getting antsy at that weight, I sort of started losing again. But the maintenance wasn't for any super long period of time, maybe a couple of weeks in the same spot.

I can't imagine maintaining for several months at this point, but that's probably just me being stubborn. I honestly think you might be on to something. I'm going to mull it over, and see about either maintaining for here (or aiming for goal and then stopping there and maintaining). Because, seriously, if my perception doesn't change, I'm probably not going to be satisfied at any weight, I guess. :/

It's awesome that you've been able to develop the recognition of the changes you had made. Hope things are going well with you!

skinnyelle: Thank you SO much for your kind words! I had no idea! YOU are the one who looks awesome. Seriously, I really like your avatar pic; you look so pretty.

Maybe I will post some more. I felt really self-conscious the last time I posted some, but maybe I can get up the confidence to post a few more.

Yes. I just had an aha moment yesterday where I saw myself naked in the shower and just thought: my stomach looks smaller. Today I got the measure tape out and I've lost 5 cm around my waist since the last time I measured.

It's a really strange experience.

I've only lost a couple of pounds, but when you don't have much to lose you can see the difference pretty quickly. After my second week of lifting weights I discovered something I never knew about my body...I have Venus dimples right above my butt! I used to be extremely athletic when I was younger, but never noticed them, and must have forgotten about them once I stopped working out and my spare tire started to thicken up. I was amazed! Now if I could only shave off these saddle-bags~

In my mind I know that I've lost weight, people are always commenting and I can fit in my size 8 skinny jeans. But I can't really see it. When I was at my biggest I looked at those size 8 jeans(they are from when I was much younger) and thought that there is NO WAY that I will ever fit into them, and if I would I would definitely be happy with my body. I can fit comfortably in them but I still think I look fat.
But I think it's partly because I see myself in the mirror many times a day and because I was in denial about how big I had actually gotten. Mostly the latter probably.
Congratulations on everyones weight loss!

I have been feeling thin lately, after losing 18 pounds in the past year. My clothes fit much better, and I am happy with pictures and reflections. I am also getting the "I hate you because you are skinny" comments that go missing around 125 lbs. Feeling pretty comfy in my skin these days, except soon I am going to balloon up since I am pregnant.

I was trying on clothes the other day and caught a glimpse of my reflection in my bra and underwear as I reaching for the other outfit. I was like, "damn, I really did lose 18 lbs." LOL. And we all know how horrible the lighting is in those stupid dressing rooms. Then I was going downstairs later that evening dressed in my running shorts and sports bra to do my kettlebells, saw my reflection in the hallway mirror and I was thinking, "when did I get so toned?"

You're not alone. I think a lot of the times that our minds take a little longer to comprehend the new 'us' - our bodies adapt right away but the brain takes it's sweet time.

BTW, skinnyelle39 you look amazing even if you didn't lose another ounce.

I have seen my weight loss since day 7.
But other people don't. Or if they do notice, they choose not to comment.
I have just 3 people so far comment about the over 35 pounds I have lost.

I've had to throw out a lot of baggy clothes, and my wardrobe has done a complete change.
Still very few comments.

Maybe the reason people aren't commenting is b/c they are jealous of your weight loss. Years ago, Oprah said something on her show which resonated so deeply with me, I never forgot it. She said (I'm paraphrasing here) that once you exceed people's expectations of where THEY think YOU should be in life, that's when they start getting jealous. This could apply to weight loss, career, how much money you make, etc. That always stuck with me. Don't let the lack of commments get you down. You know what you've been through and that's all that counts. Congrats on the 35 lost so far!! Awesome.
