Its so funny to me how we all react differently to diets. I didn't do well on Weight watchers or Atkins but now Im calorie counting and being aware of my carbs (I try to keep them below 100) and I am losing.

Sunlover--just keep going and your weight is sure to shift in the right direction.

Thanks to you all for your advice and insight. I am just going to keep on keeping on and see where that gets me. If nothing else I already feel tons better than I did a few weeks ago, and that is what is important! =)

I am by no means a fitness expert or guru, and I definitly dont know it all.. but...
My brother in law is a doctor, who for a while worked with obesity and did several studies to see what works.

That being said, as someone else mentioned, sometimes it can be a matter of routine. For me, I worked out everyday. I did Zumba 4 out of 6 days, and the other two were either Yoga and a strength training class. I saw very little results.. what really helped for me..?

Amping it up! I started a bootcamp on Febrary 15th 2011, and since have gone down two pant sizes and even bought a size "small" shirt from Maurices. How exciting is that!!?? But there is a catch- I started 3 weeks ago going to bootcamp twice a day- once at 6am before work, and once 6pm after work! I have also counted calories since July 2010. However, one of my new trainers put me on a diet: Mon-Sat No startchy carbs and low good carbs- aiming for about 100g a day! I may reward myself with a serving of starchy carbs on Wednesday night if I have attended bootcamp twice daily on Mon-Tue-Wed (thats my own personal rule!) Sunday is a cheat day, where I may eat carbs if I chose, but the last two, I havent had an urge to eat them!! This has totally flipped the switch. I have lost 7 pounds, which isnt a lot, but I dont have too much more to lose. And I can see the fat melting away!

I highly encourage seeking out either a trainer that you trust, or even an MD to help you determine your situation and what is best for you! What works for one, may not work for another! And I had to learn that the hard way!

No Matter what happens, as long as you stay motivated and driven, you will succeed! No matter what obsticles stand in the way- remember- you made a choice to make a change, and whatever the result of that is, is the best you can do! Just keep pushing and giving 100%, what really worked for me was to think about the end result and that end goal. Sometimes the "right now" doesnt seem like it is enough and thats normal. Just remember that you are always a step ahead of the game because you have made that choice! I so totally believe in you- keep your head in the game girl- you got this!!!

The only tweak that I see is the sugar in your coffee. And does that matter? For me it did. I had been slowly experiencing pound creep and didn't understand why until I saw the sugar grams in my Dunkin' coffee. After I switched to cream only, I dropped 5 pounds, without really changing anything else.

Have you tried stevia or its different forms? Some people prefer one more than another. Many like Sun Crystals or Truvia. I carried stevia packets with me for a while, but have transitioned to being able to drink my coffee "cream only".

The sugar may be jumping your insulin levels up, and insulin is what causes our bodies to store fat (Taubes).

Hey Sunlover,

perhaps you are not eating as often? You mention breakfast, lunch and dinner, it does not sound like much I have tried and extremely low cal, low carb diet and learnt that it backfires! I changed to body trim and I think the biggest thing i learnt was to eat every 3 hours to keep your metabolism up.
i always remember what, when and how
what-always protein, it fills you up and takes 30% of you bodys energy to burn as opposed to carbs at 3-4% and thus speeds your metab
when-every 3 hours to boost your metab and so your body doesnt go into starvation mode and hold to anything and everything it can e.g 7.30breakfast, 10.30 snack, 1.30 lunch, 4.30 snack, 7.30 dinner, extra snack option
how-how much your portions are. I used to over eat and saw that only eating till i was full or i.e palm sized serving of protein, made a huge difference.

also your exercise-you could benefit a lot from walking. I walk everywhere this made a huge difference as to sweating it out at the gym. I used to be a gym junkie actually had body builder bfs etc and i learnt that you lose more weight walking and having incidental exercise as opposed to high intensity.
this is also why i like the body trim one. 70% of losing weight is what you eat, 20% is walking and incidental exercise and 10% is high intensity and weigh training. a lot of the time people think they can get away with 'one gummy bear" cause they did an hour long cardio class. when i went to the gym all the time i became fatter which maked no sense to me i thought i was going crazy.. i thought i could get away with a bite here and there.... i am also glad i don HAVE to go to the gym. I have choices i can walk my dog at the beach or go for a walk and picnic with my bf i like having options and enjoying life. On the body trim i lost a kg a week, it was great

That doesn't sound like much food to me, especially on a low carb plan, which is supposed to be high in fat. Maybe up the fat and calories for a bit?
