I weigh daily right now. I was only weighing in weekly but decided to join the daily weigh in thread. For me it's more about seeing what good days and bad days do to my weight. Daily weigh-ins are a big part of how I confirmed my suspicion that my body can no longer handle white carbs and deep fried foods. The bloated feeling and bathroom issues were big clues but the variation in my weight kinda sealed.

Hey Mary - sorry to hijack your thread (for the recond, I weigh once a week, on Sundays. While I was losing, I tracked my weight loss in an Excel spread sheet and tried to stay focus on weight loss over time, rather than individual weigh-ins).

cfmama - I thought I had been keeping up with you, but didn't realize you were in the throes of a 4 month plateau. IIRC, you've been doing so great for nearly 2 years, my recommendation (which is only that, colored through my own experience) would be to bump up to true maintenance calories for a few months and let your body...rest and be completely satisfied. Good harvest! Plenty to eat! Worry about famine, gone!

You are so awesome at this, you will know what's best for you, but my experience was my body just seemd to get tired and angsty at dealing with low calories for too long. I increased calories (slowly over time) to around recommended maintenance for my height/weight and after about 3-4 months, my weight loss started back up again.

I am almost hesitant to give say this, there's been a lot of board flurry about "starvation mode" and the right number of calories and I dont want to create any controversey! It definitely seemed like after a year of eating 1400 calories a day, my body just said "whoa nelly, I am not losing any more weight, there appears to not be enough food available and I just can't risk it!"

I record my official weight once a week but I weigh myself daily. I wish I didn't. I do obsess over it and I find that the scale kind of dictates my mood. I'm slowly trying to transition myself to actually only weighing myself once a keel. However, I do like that weighing daily helps keeps me on track.

I weigh every day but only record it once a week. I have to make sure i am sticking to plan. That's how i regained 15 pounds, started slacking off the weighing every day and pretty soon my pants were getting tight again, so since may 1st i officially weigh every day and have no plans of stopping.

I weigh in each morning. My digital scale shows my weight to the .2 of a pound (150.2, for example). I record my weight in a mini-calendar daily, but I use Monday's number as my official weight. Weighing in on Monday keeps me from cheating on the weekend.

Weighing daily helps me to see if I am trending downward or not. I really like being able to go back as far as Jan.1st and see my progress (or lack of it sometimes!).

I'm a daily weigher, I just blogged about this very topic and included my chart . I find it very helpful, personally!

Hmmmm.....now I am intrigued by recording it daily just to see the trends. I could then go check Fitday to see what was eaten the day(s) before the weight flucuation and track the TOM times too. I think I might do that!

I weigh at the meetings on Friday nights, but on occasion during the week I jump on the scale in the morning. I try not to, because then I become very obsessive and sabotage myself. For now, I try to make myself wait until Friday, because I look forward to it and the success.

Well, I weighed myself this morning and I am 236.4 - up .4 from yesterday. But this was after my coffeee so who knows. Also, the thread about the digital scales and how they can be wonky freaked me out. So, I weighed naked after peeing and was still 236.4. Then I decided to clean my scale off with clorox wipes without lifting it up - got on and 2 times in a row it said 237.4 and then the 3rd and 4th time it went down to 236.0. 5th time back to 236.4 so I am just going with 236.4 to put on the new log I just made. LOL- I am already irritated, but I am going to try the daily logging and tracking for at least a couple of weeks. If it makes me crazy and messes with my emotions I will go back to once a week on Wednesdays.

For many years I weighed only once a week. (about 30 years!) A while back a doctor told me that part of my food issues were around that number on the scale - that it had become a part of my disordered eating. Recently, however, I am trying to weigh more often than once a week because I would love to become more in tune with the daily fluctuations of weight. It's a process always.

Weighing is a little like politics...everyone has an opinion. LOL

You should do what feels right and keeps you the most sane about it.
