I have an old analogy I learned years ago that seems to apply to me and maybe to you.

Have you ever watched a drunk woman walk down the stairs at a party in a long dress, high heels and carrying two drinks? Imagine it. Drunk and wobbly standing at the top of the stairs. She concentrates really hard to take that first step down, without tripping on her dress, falling on her heels, dropping the drink or holding on to anything..... take one step down, then bring the other foot down to that step, wobble, wobble to regain her balance then stabilize before going down the next step.

This is how weight loss happens for me. I will work hard to lose weight but the scale won't move, then suddenly one morning I weight up 3lbs lighter, but over the next day or so if fluctuates up/down a little bit and finally settles down where I get stuck for a week or so before the next step down happens.

I see a direct correlation with my workouts too. When I work out hard, my body retains more water. The muscles hold onto the water. its not the same as bloating, as I won't feel the retention in my fingers, ankles or wasteband like I do with bloating (like PMS or too salty foods). But the weight is still there. If I take a couple days of lighter cardio and not work out so hard, then the water releases and I'll lose the weight.

Its that step, step, wobble, stablize.

Make sure you are drinking a lot of water btw- too little water makes you retain.
