I usually drink diet soda when I go out to eat. I stopped drinking it here at home because I would drink at least 3 a day and I found out it is bad for the bones and I have osteoporosis already. Drinking it just once or twice a week makes me feel I can still enjoy it and yet not get too much of it. Personally I never felt drinking it had any influence on how much I craved sweets or ate.

Before I started my journey, I drank a 12 pack of diet coke every day for years. Now I have 1 or 2 20oz diet cokes a week and I am fine with it Good luck

Oh my goodness Onederchick! Think of all the money you are saving!

I used to do 2 or 3 cans a night on my overnight shifts and then the occasional 20oz bottle during the day on my days off however my mind links "soda" with "chips" and a bag (a large bag) of chips (or a whole container of pringles) sure isn't okay even if the diet soda is. Plus it triggers my sweet tooth too, so a double whammy. So I'm on the no soda at all bus here....

I drink between 20 and 60 ounces of Coke Zero every day...maybe sometimes more, I'm not sure. I acknowledge that there might be good reasons for stopping, but I'm really, really dependent on it right now. If I stall out and stop losing, I'll consider making a change, but I don't see that happening for a while.

I drink Diet sodas with my lunch and dinner. I drink water or crystal light all day long and kinda need a suprise for my throat..lol I love the diet sunkist. It has caffine which I need a little during the day to add some pep to my step.

We stopped buying soda about a year ago and I haven't missed it a bit. I usually drink plain water, Crystal Light or herbal teas throughout the day. I do occassionally have a diet soda at picnics or other family gatherings; however, I try to stick with Diet Rite because it is the salt in soda that really gets me. My body is prone to tons of water retention and drinking soda with a lot of sodium in it keeps the scale from moving for me.

I am amazed at how much money we save each week when we cut soda out of our grocery budget.

I don't miss the caffeine because I've yet to have the courage to give up my 1-2 cups of morning coffee.

What I love though about not having soda in the house is that my 3 and 5 year olds will ask for water when they are at a friend's house or at a restaurant. They never consider asking for anything but milk or water and would rather eat fruit than ask for fruit juice (which I also do not keep in the house).

I was never a big soda person, but every once in a while I get a craving. I don't see a problem with the occasional diet soda- something is just so good about the carbonation, haha. I haven't had one in over two months and have had no cravings- in fact, the only thing I have had to drink has been water, tea, or coffee.

I'm not the type to deprive myself of anything, though. If I want something, I either have a small amount or find a way to make it healthier. Deprivation, for some at least, can lead to binging- at least that is how it has always been for me.

So drink up!

I'll have a Diet Coke a few times per week. I try and drink all my water first, so it's usually for supper I have my Diet Coke. About once a month I'll drive through Sonic at happy hour and get a big ol' Diet Coke. That's a super treat!

I have a good friend who has lost 50+lbs, and I almost always see her with a diet coke in hand, haha. At first I wanted to preach to her about why diet soda is a no no, but who am I to tell people to change what is working for them??

I like soda, but I've really never been much of an addict. I can take it or leave it. And fortunately, diet coke was always my drink of choice, regular coke makes my teeth feel like carpet. That said, a few times a month I'll probably have a diet coke, and it has never changed my weight loss. Doesn't make me crave sweets anymore than I already do, haha.

This is one of those personal things, I think. There are so many opinions out there about the effect of such and such food on weight loss, that if we followed every bit of advice, who knows what we'd eat!? If you're so inclined, wean yourself off of diet soda (it might be easier knowing that this doesn't have to be a permanant change) for a few weeks. If it makes any difference to how you feel or how you lose, then consider if it's worth it to you to avoid it altogether. If you see no change, other than missing diet soda, I don't see any reason to keep drinking it guilt free.

Yup... I was listening to a podcast (Australian - Dr Karl on JJJ, available on iTunes) just yesterday and he mentioned that there are studies that indicate that young women that drink large quantities of diet soft drinks have worse bone density than women much older who don't drink soft drinks. (clumsily worded but you get my drift)

There is more to our health than just being a certain weight.

I love diet coke. You can take chips and candy and chocolate and pizza away from me but not my diet coke.
